The senate needs people like Rand Paul. Too many of the Republicans are big government types and career politicians.
Eric Dondero| 8.21.09 @ 8:24PM
Latest rumor making its way around libertarian circles: libertarian Republican Mass. State Sen. Bob Hedlund may seek the open Kennedy seat for the special election.
Imagine in 2011, Senators:
Rand Paul of Kentucky
Irwin Schiff of Connecticut
Bob Hedlund of Massachusetts
An unbeatable libertarian trifecta.

A "Libertarian trifecta" would be if they got 1%, 2% and 3% of the vote, respectively.
Meanwhile...the democrats continue to rule unopposed!
Great plan!

Peter Schiff, not his father Irwin, is the candidate in Connecticut. All of these candidates are longshots, because they aren't plugged into the power structure, but all of them would be an improvement on what we have now, with the possible exception of Hedlund, who might be anything at all, so pliable and useless is Dondero's definition of libertarianism.
