My friend and co-worker, Don Carrington, was at the federal courthouse in Raleigh, North Carolina this morning when Rielle Hunter, John Edwards' former mistress, pulled up in a black SUV. She was escorted into the building by federal agents, baby in tow.

A grand jury meeting this morning in the courthouse is believed to be considering alleged campaign finance malfeasance by Edwards. The AP has some preliminary details here.

Don managed to snap this shot as Hunter walked in.

For those of you wondering why you would bring a baby to the grand jury it is not because the little tyke is going to testify. She is a "sentencing baby" and Ms. Hunter is wisely acclimating the youngster to the court environment. Then later when Ms. Hunter is convicted and is about to be sentenced the child will be in her arms while the judge considers how long she will serve. Who knows, John Edwards may borrow the baby for the same purpose.

Interesting, Edwards pretty much destroyed Hillary's primary numbers-so why isn't Obama showing more gratitude?

Another fine, upstanding democrat politician bites the dust.
