Why Obama May Lose in 2012

A very wise friend suggested to me that Obama's second term is an inevitability.  I have to take issue with him because it seems all too clear to me that the president has abandoned the ironclad strategy for victory.  What he should have done was to dedicate himself to fixing the banking/financial system, to restore its foundations, to bring about better rules, and to restore public confidence in the lifeblood of the system.  Had he done that, eight years would have been a foregone conclusion.

Instead, he has made the financial system an interesting sideline to go along with his attempts to bring about the eschaton through salvific, wishing-makes-it-so public policy.  His current path stands a decent chance of returning the nation to stagflation.  And no politician can wear that millstone and make it look good.

He would have to lose by a very large margin, otherwise his army of "community organizers" will fix things for sure. If it is at all close, then an army of lawyers will step in like in MN. This is all assuming he doesn't find a way to install himself permanently like his Central American buddies in the next 3 years.

Utter nonsense! Without any thought behind it!

J.C.EATON| 7.6.09 @ 11:18AM

Mr. Baker: please clue me in why Obama is likely a lock for re-election. If it is because better than half the country's voters go through life with their hand out looking menacingly at the others of us who produce, and Obama has convinced them that he will fill it, ok. But that's old news. If there's more, like I say;clue me in. I mean, for sh--sakes, in a matter of months he's left the country's finances, auto industry, and history in a steaming dung-heap. What about that makes his re-election inevitable?

Tim| 7.6.09 @ 12:06PM

People, myself included like to compare this guy to Carter, but really Obama makes Jimmy Carter look quaint and old fashioned.
"By their fruits you shall know them". I'd say that politically Obama's first fruits aren't due until November 2010. If his radicalism is as potent as we fear, for conservatives Christmas may come early that year.

L. Ross| 7.6.09 @ 12:46PM

Tim:

I absolutely agree with you, BHO is Jimmy C reborn with a better tan and halting speech patterns. I would say he is a shoe in for defeat in 2012, except I can't for the life of me come up with a credible opponent. Thank God John McCain is too old to run again. The stupidity of the Republican party does get distressing. Didn't we try running an over the hill senator war hero against Bill Clinton in 96? The swing voters don't give a damn for that kind of thing.

Oldefarte| 7.6.09 @ 1:15PM

Hunter, great and true thoughts! Voters thought they were electing a semi-moderate, FIRST BLACK, president; and instead, got a raving liberal lunatic dictator. If the Republicans can put forth decent candidates beginning in 2010, there is a very good chance of Obama becoming the next Jimmy Carter!!!!!!!!!!!

tonypal| 7.6.09 @ 1:22PM

JC EATON:

Did you even read the article? It was only a few paragraphs. Having said that, if we continue on the current path, Republicans by default will recapture the House next year. Then, it's on to 2012, when a competent, well spoken conservative will be in a position to win.

Everly Waverly| 7.6.09 @ 1:26PM

Comparing Obama to Carter is appropriately apt, although with Carter I never felt so helplessly doomed....

Tim| 7.6.09 @ 1:39PM

One thing that the GOP does not lack is 70-something Senators who fancy themselves presidential material.

Tim| 7.6.09 @ 1:41PM

McCain '12 He's tan, rested and rehydrated!

He knows the brake from the gas pedal.

Prunes for a brighter tomorrow!

JP| 7.6.09 @ 2:04PM

If one looks closely at what President Obama has done since January, and look at what he intends to do in the near future, he is close to making the exact same mistakes that President Herbert Hoover made in 1929. Couple that with the moves that Bernecke and Paulson/Giethner trioka have made since 2008 and things look eeirly similar not just to 1929 but 1928. Substitute Benjeman Strong for Bernecke and you can't help but be reminded of Karl Marx's overused dictum of "History repeats itself twice; the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce."

No, Obama is no Jimmy Carter -he is the Second Coming of Hubert Hoover. And since around May, I wonder if he will go down in history as such. Technologies such as IM, the internet, and the 24 Hour News cycle have painted a picture of our nation that is not quite true. Watch the both the Senate and House Dems. They are looking over the horizon at Nov 2010 and for once their self-assured confindence shows signs of cracking. Congressional Democrats have in recent memory gone to the mat for thier President, and they got burned.

President Obama is a disaster in the making; not just for his party, but for the nation at large. The Dems in the Senate face 2 options: destroying the President's agenda (and thus saving what's left of our economy); or going down with thier President in 2012. Can anyone remember the Senate Majority Leader from 1932?

JC.Eaton| 7.6.09 @ 5:30PM

Tony.... did YOU even read my question? Someone this writer thinks is wise[and he's not alone] keeps saying Obama is a certain reelection. I don't believe it...you want to talk to me;answer the right question.

Mike Jones| 7.6.09 @ 6:29PM

The reason Obama will win in 2012 is due to how the new voters will be brought into the Dem tent, via immigration reform, giveaways to the unions, and manipulation of the census. All he has to do is find 5 or 6 million new bodies to vote Dem, and he can win, even with the policy path he is on.

Former marine '69 '72| 7.6.09 @ 7:54PM

Mike Jones says:The reason Obama will win in 2012 is

You can not be serious! Obama has done NOTHING that will bring back the economy. People don't care about healthcare, they care about jobs and if we continue losing them like we are for the next 8 months his own party will turn on him. He better live the high life while he can!

DENISE| 7.6.09 @ 7:55PM

Lord help us if he gets re-elected, he is a liberal, anti american if I didn't know better I think he wants america to fail. what other reason could he possibly have to distroy the work force, bring taxes so high no body can pay them and try to distroy our wonderful health care, it may not be perfect but its a lot better then anyone elses in the world.

jake| 3.1.10 @ 1:54PM

i hope you didn't just imply that America has the best healthcare in the world you are 37th in the world ranking behind countries such as Saudi Arabia and Colombia i don't see how you can have a go at obama for wanting to do something about this

Joe Jablonski| 7.6.09 @ 9:47PM

I find this a backwards argument. A second term would be an aberration. The famous dictum that Americans are by and large conservative... if there's any truth to it, Obama is now being exposed as the doctrinaire leftie he always was.

When the question is asked, "Are you better off now after four years of moi?", it will be unmistakable.

If it's not unmistakable, then conservatives are wrong. Of course, people still say Jimmy Carter was a great man. Some people will never get it.

But the damage Obama is doing will become evident well before 2012. In fact, I'm sure we can expect some backlash in 2010.

Liberal Reader| 7.6.09 @ 10:03PM

Obama's not going to win in 2012?

Well. Maybe not.

Remember, though. Obama passed through the ultimate political trial-by-fire: he beat the Clintons, who at the time were probably the most powerful political force in the country. He evaded their opposition research and even some of the sleazy old-style dog-whistle racism they tried down south.

Obama, however, has to produce. If the economy comes across with a jobless recovery, Obama will probably lose -- and obviously he'll lose if there's no recovery at all. But if Obama's right, and his policies really are providing for more stable long term growth, and signs of that growth -- including high paying jobs -- are in evidence, he'll win.

Much of this depends too on the Republican candidate. Obama would defeat Romney easily. I think Republicans know this. But there may be some Republican governor out there who is not compromised or deranged, and that person may be able to beat Obama -- but as I say, only if the recovery is jobless.

Mona| 7.6.09 @ 10:11PM

Lord, help our great nation from those who seek to destroy it...Obama is deliberately trying to destroy the USA because in his raving mad mind, he wants to turn our country into the biggest welfare nation, he and his henchmen do not care for our country and we as conservatives must take it back by voting all the radical Dems out of office in the 2010 election, we must band together and beat Obama and Acorn. He is a bumbling idiot who should have never been given the highest, most honorable position in our country and he is NOT my president and never will be...my president serves his country not the other way around, I refuse to worship him as a rockstar that the main stream media is trying to portray him and his wife..not impressed one bit..if he expects to gain our respect, than start respecting the country and what it stands for and one more thing...he should spend time studying our constitution instead of trying to be on TV, more rockstar antics, enough already....

club| 7.6.09 @ 10:17PM

B O will lose and lose big. Even the blind and dumb, who would support him for almost anything, will not put up with someone who destroys the economy for generations. First the House in 2010, then the House, Senate and Presidency in 2012. Twenty years to recover.

patriots post| 7.6.09 @ 10:29PM

Where does one begin to sort through the obscene constitutional violations of this foreign usurper to the highest office in this land. So many eligibility lawsuits ongoing, so many reruns of tried and failed marxist policies, such a failure of common sense. America- stop this travesty now. We must have credible response to this criminal takeover of America. I think all those who have aided and abetted the fraud perpetrated on the American public should be looking over their shoulder. American's are outraged, and we're coming for you.

Phil Blumer| 7.6.09 @ 11:04PM

He is doing basically what he said he would do. Who would have ever thought that greater that 50% of our population would be dumb enough to vote for someone who espoused policies that have always failed in the past and seemed destined to ruin the country.

crankyvoter| 7.6.09 @ 11:05PM

I was a full fledged member of the ABC club. Does anyone remember the ABC club? Anybody But Carter! I say we start a new 'retro' club called the ABO club. Anybody But Obama!

gardner1| 7.6.09 @ 11:18PM

the banks, the insurance companies, wall street, immigration, health care, cap and trade....how many czars? acorn and the census...of course he'll get re-elected-like the guy in central america or cuba. remember my friends, ONE near disaster (like riots or bombs or sarah palin getting top billing) and he can go marshal law. no one controls the czars-what? you think congress still has much power-except when allowed???think about it and get ready for a heck of a ride...

Dare| 7.6.09 @ 11:19PM

The Mainstream media gave him and continues to give him a free ride but the fact is He is a screw up, and they will one day turn on him like a pack of wolves, hopefully it will not be too late to repair this great nation of his utter distruction.
Anyone that can vote yes three times on a bill that allows doctors to place live babies on a shelf to die as he did will not have the guidance from the Lord this Nation needs.

The best thing that could happen for this country would be for Obama to be impeached and jailed for impersonating a U.S. citizen--- he is a pathological liar----big time!!

Jaws| 7.7.09 @ 4:01AM

ABO? I'm all for it, where do I sign up. There are so many people that are sick of the outrageous amount of spending that is going on in Washington that the Dems will be lucky if there is not a total reversal of power in by 2012 giving GOP the super-majority in both Houses and the Presidency. BO, his initials suit him well because his policies stink. The good news is that his popularity is finally droping and with it will go his ability to enact these crazy policies such as cap and trade and universal healthcare, which btw have both failed in Europe.
In 2012 I will be voting for ANYONE that runs against Obama, however I hope we get someone that is conservitive enough to undo whatever damage BO manages to inflict on our country in the next 4 years, and a congress that will help him or her with the job.

Pamela Miller| 7.7.09 @ 9:14AM

Might lose in 2012? As far as I'm concerned, and most of those I have spoken to, he is already out. Can we start over please? Any EXPERIENCED people out there?

pistolpetestoys| 7.7.09 @ 9:17AM

I think one of his thugs, probably Rahmbo, knew that the naive white voters who helped this guy ascend his throne will have seen the light by 2012.Ergo,he needs to confer voting rights on the tens of millions of illegal aliens who are or will flock here to climb aboard the federal gravy train. His vote fraud division is also armed with billions in newly-minted dollars to fix the census so as to ensure liberal domination for decades.

PatriotMom| 7.7.09 @ 9:22AM

This man is an American nightmare...and he know's it.
If anyone should be televised standing in front of a banner with the words
"MISSION ACCOMPLISHED", it should be B.O.
Just make sure the backdrop is appropriately peppered with shuttered businesses, foreclosed homes, tearful familys, sneering allies and laughing enemies.
God, help us who knew better but were powerless against the raving mad media, lazy misfits and Godless Hollywood cult who pushed him upon us.
Free your people LORD. Amen.

Patriotmom| 7.7.09 @ 9:35AM

If enough citizens got together to be represented, by say, someone like Mark Styne, could we bring
a law suit against Congress, the Senate and "Destroyer-in Chief" for passing the stimulus without reading it?
They do with everything they pass in the dead of night.
This is killing the American people and can't be considered responsible, can it?

joanna purkeypile| 7.7.09 @ 9:58AM

I think president "owebama" is only one of a few of our "peacock" presidents who serve one term but go on to make millions on the speech circuit. He doesn't care about our country. Illegals have more rights than citizens, the empowered and entitled movement is pushing the rest of us to the background, as those of us who have worked hard to better ourselves and make a good living are told we HAVE to give it to those who have spent their lives with their hands outstretched while doing nothing to help themselves.I can't wait for the next election when we will show this arrogant,self-serving dictator that the real Americans have had enough of his cockiness and ignorance..

Ronald L. White, JD| 8.23.10 @ 11:48AM

I will defeat Barack Obama in 2012. He is a absolute disaster for the world. He supports the New World Order, and is doing everything in his power to advance that agenda. His handlers have thrown him under the train. He is completely in bed with the Wall Street Gang, and the international bankers, but then, they put him in office, with their money.
I will expose him, and destroy him. We have 22.5% unemployment, if you count the people who are no longer looking, because there are no jobs out there. We need to nationalize the Federal Reserve Banking System, nationalize the banks, as they are in India and China, and enjoy 8-10% annual growth in GDP, like India and China. There is no unemployment crisis in India and China. India is projected to be the largest economy in the world in 2060. We should not go down, without a fight. I am bringing that fight to the forefront in 2012. I am running as an independent, but will form a third party, The Millenial Party, for the next millenium of peace and prosperity, but we will reign through superior military might. Please contact me at ronaldleewht661@gmail; P. O. Box 722, Eufaula, AL; P. O. Box 161979, Atlanta, GA 30321-1979. Help us to get this new party established in your state in sufficent time to appear on the ballot in 2012. We intend to field candidates in all 435 House Seats and for the Senate seats, available in 2012. Help us save America, your family, and our future.
