So Todd Purdum's Vanity Fair
hit piece on Sarah Palin has led to more shooting by that
circular firing squad known as the McCain campaign team. Jonathan
Martin has a story
in the Politico; Mark Hemingway sheds
more light over at The Corner.
Once again we're treated to Steve Schmidt versus Randy
Scheunemann versus God only knows who else, with a cameo
appearance by
Bill Kristol. Somebody else can sort out who leaked what to
whom. To me, the only takeaway is this: As godawful as Barack
Obama has been and will continue to be, it is very difficult to
feel it is some great loss that these people didn't get a chance
to help run the country.
The only good thing about all this is the hope that none of these
bozos will ever get a job working on a Republican campaign again.

What if:
What if Palin had been allowed to be Palin in late September and
Early October - Instead of looking like a confused stuffed puppet
in lipstick and designer glasses?
What if Johnny Mac had called George Bush at the outset of the
financial crisis in late September and said "George, just keep
the banks from failing, I'll keep on the campaign trail and beat
this guy... then I'll come back after the election and we can
clean up the mess before you leave. Coming there now would make
me look like a handle on a baseball..."
What If: The "Establishment Pundit Class" had actually backed
McCain instead of backing "The One"? And blaming it on Palin
instead of on their anger at their pet Romney not being picked?
What would have happened if McCain would have actually pulled off
a win in 2008 because he did the right things listed above?
One term McCain and the next in line as an acting incompetent?
Not a rich, pampered, Liberal Northeastern Establishment former
governor for 2012.. that's for sure. And just maybe that was the
rub...
McCain/Palin wins in 2008 = Palin/someone else conservative in
2012 and 2016... With no Romney in sight.
Hummmm? Just speculatin... not accusin... that's all... but
hummmm....

What if Republicans nominated the one man running that knows
about economics? McCain basically admitted in the debates he knew
nothing about the economy. Romney also knows nothing based on his
record in MA.

Absolutely, amazing! Bush, with the help of both the Democratic
and Republican Parties left us deeply in debt, added two more
countries to our inventory of nation building projects,
contributed to the housing bust through his compassionate
conservative “Ownership Society,” added $billions with his
prescription drugs bill to the nearly bankrupt Medicare program,
substantially increased funding for Bill Clinton’s scam program,
Americorps and left us, the taxpayer, holding the bag on TARP.
Now we have a new president who has, in the course of 5 months,
tripled and possibly quadrupled the national debt far and away
from what Bush left us with, taken controling interest in several
major banks, taken controlling interest in AIG, ditto with two
car manufacturers, given us a parallel government (Czars)
answerable only to his highness, is trying to nationalize our
healthcare system and is currently trying to ramrod through a tax
scheme (Cap and Trade) that may very well be the final nail in
our coffin.
The sky really is falling and all the nattering pseudo elitists
in the STUPID PARTY can find to talk and write about is
unsubstantiated rumors and nonsense coming from anonymous failed
and inept campaign managers about Sarah Palin seven months after
the election ended.
In the meantime, Sarah actually has done something that will help
us achieve energy independence.
Of all four, Palin seemed to have a better handle on what to do:
get government out of the way of business and drill for oil. The
complexity of our economy cannot and will not be solved by a few
people in Washington, especially using Chicago tactics.
Because Palin's clear thinking of government's role in economics
and energy production, I would have to believe her instincts
regarding protecting America would have been sound as well.
I do not think her personal intelligence is on a level with
George Will, but the other character traits she possesses that
Will doesn't puts her in a better position to lead.
Of all 4 candidates last year, she was ahead on the idea of
global warming, way ahead of her running mate. I think time will
prove out the rush to manipulate climate, will have been a rush
to manipulate money and people. Like Dan Quayle, her integrity
for speaking out on some of these issues contrary and in a
sometimes clumsy way to intellectual's sensibilities will be
acknowledged someday.

The financial system, was systematically
undermined through the sub prime players (Fannie & Freddie,
Countrywide, AIG, ) all who generously financed Obama, Biden
& Co, which
had blocked any reform of the system proposed
by McCain and the Bush Administration. I don't think that TARP
was the answer, but I didnt see
a "Mellon style" mass liquidation of assets were
going to solve the problem. The one time where
Palin, did seem disingenous, was when she supported the TARP,
because it ran counter to all her instincts. She warned about
everything we would be facing, and the likes of George Will
dismissed it all; his instincts and all his experience failed him
significantly
