Speaking today when he released details of his budget, a haughty
President Obama declared:
We can no longer afford to spend as if deficits do not matter
and waste is not our problem. We can no longer afford to leave
the hard choices for the next budget, the next administration –
or the next generation.
What followed was a speech announcing $17 billion in proposed
budget cuts to a $3.4 trillion budget. Yet as even the
Washington Post
notes, last year, the Bush administration -- which
candidate Obama called "the most fiscally irresponsible
administration in history" -- proposed $34 billion in cuts in its
final budget.
Do not, as some ungracious pastors do,
Show me the steep and thorny way to heaven;
Whiles, like a puff'd and reckless libertine,
Himself the primrose path of dalliance treads,
And recks not his own rede.
--Hamlet, I, iii, 51-55
Putting these numbers in perspective, one trillion is 100
billion, so a 17/3,400 ratio in budget cuts is like a flea on an
elephant.
Size does matter.

Hey, guys, give the man a break. After all, he inherited this
mess from Booooosh! He doesn't take pleasure in meddling in
private business. Do you think he's actually enjoying this? He's
got plenty of stuff to do right now besides worrying about a few
budget cuts. Two wars, a failing economy, making nice with the
world after years of American tyrannical rule, just to name a
few. Cut a brotha some slack, man.
Oh, I forgot to mention destroying our nation. That is a full
time job in itself!
