The Spectacle Blog

"Eek!" That's a quote from a chagrined journalist who has just discovered that his blog post quoting a Republican supporter of Saul Anuzis has been misrepresented as The American Spectator endorsing Anuzis.

The wild-and-woolly fight for the RNC chairmanship is no place that a mild-mannered reporter should intrude himself as a combatant. It's dangerous enough to be a spectator (American or otherwise) at ringside. I'm an opinionated person by nature, but I don't have a dog in this fight, and the only opinions that really matter in the chairmanship contest are those of the 168 members of the RNC, whose opinions are hard to gauge.

Who knows, Stacy, but you might end up being the unintentional kingmaker!

Those propping S.A. better draw a long breath and take a real close look at *success* in MI and ask themselves if that is what the dying elephant needs at this juncture. Results matter, everything else just meaningless words like "infrastructure", "organization"; yadda yadda yadda

Its one thing to schmooze the big-wigs and get into power, it's quite another to fix things once you are there...What's S.A. actually done for Michigan Republicans, or National Republican candidates? When a state sliding down the crapper as long as MI has been can't manage to get Republican opposition into power that is not a good sign of effectiveness.

Anuzis' strength is that he is from a Northern state that is actually in play and prepared to do battle with the Democrats. The Southern states two of the contenders hail from are part of what is making the GOP a regional party. It is not an achievement for Republicans to win in South Carolina or Tennessee because the Southern Strategy has guaranteed that result for years. Blackwell's loss by 23 points in a state that is in play shows he is no winner either. These three should not even be considered because they will only worsen the problems of the GOP as leaders of the NRC.

Robert Stacy McCain would be a Blackwell supporter if he were not a neo-Confederate.

"Kingmaker McCain" -- I like the sound of that, Doug.

Interloper, are you calling Ken Blackwell a neo-Confederate?

Blackwell lost because of Taft.
