Yes, the Green New Deal Could Happen
Movie Clip: Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Remember when the notion of Obamacare passing was laughable, unthinkable? And here we are, years later, in a system with runaway costs and increased taxes in the form of inflated insurance payments.

The Green New Deal gets lots of laughs on the Right, but this big idea bologna makes me nervous. This is how I analogize it: Democrats are like conniving teenagers asking for a 3 a.m. curfew knowing their parents will squawk and say no, but negotiate down to 1 a.m. when that’s what the kid was going for in the beginning.

Likewise, the GND is so absurd, so fantastical, so inane, that socialist policy (Carbon Exchange! High Speed Rail!) seems downright sensible. It’s still redistributive in that it will require huge tax increases and more central planning, something all socialists and commies love. It’s just less overt than the large scale performance art that is the Green New Deal. It is resetting the boundaries.

The reverse happens with speech codes. So the Left wants to constrain what can be whispered in polite company. There can be no thoughtful discussion of the consequences of gay marriage, transgenderism and discrimination against women, whether it’s a good idea to destroy historical monuments, and on and on. The only thing that is okay to talk about is what they deem correct and only in a way positive to their point of view.

By doing these two things: proposing huge, absurd, monstrous ideas that expand the scope of socialist ideology and then constraining language that might be critical of it, they control the game.

And right now, they control they game.

Consider. Every Dem presidential candidate has endorsed the Green New Deal. The media has covered what should be laughable notions like no automobiles, regulating diet and eliminating cows, with all the gravitas of innovations in heart surgery. They cover it like it’s a real thing and more, they paint anyone critical of the ideas as bigoted, closed minded, old-fashioned climate deniers and anti-science crazies. Yes, that’s an inversion of the truth, but that’s how it’s covered.

Unlike the Republicans who fight with each other when they’re in power, the Democrats suffer no such dilemmas. They band together and willingly sacrifice their political lives (look at how many Democrats committed seppuku to get Obamacare passed, knowing full-well they’d never get reelected). Will these true believers band together again for tenets of the Green New Deal? You bet their cow-farts they will.

So please, please do not dismiss the inane ideas of the Left. They take them very seriously and their media autobots never question them and march along with them.

Before you know it, the Republicans, like the stupid parents who unintentionally gave their kid exactly what he wanted, will hand Democrats more wins and then try to frame it as a bipartisan compromise. It’s sensible!

Fear the Green New Deal.
