Winking at a Backdoor Kyoto
by

I have a piece in the Daily Caller addressing the piece in yesterday’s Washington Post quoting administration ‘climate’ officials expressing an openness to ‘skinning the cat’ of Kyoto another way, through the backdoor.

This renewed effort telegraphed a few weeks ago is equal parts standard operating proceudre for this crew, particularly on this issue — ‘the legislature had better cooperate, or the bureaucrats will do worse!’ — and serious wish-list item.

Every Member of Congress and particularly the Senate up for re-election in 2012 should be asked if they agree with this clever approach, which is the same sort of maneuvering that got us the 1995 Berlin Mandate, and soon thereafter the signed-but-not-ratified Kyoto (and the fallout over that executive over-commitment). And, if not, why they aren’t using their position to address it.
