Tim Pawlenty dropped out of the Republican nomination race too soon, Jonah Goldberg argues in his L.A. Times column. Goldberg thinks that Pawlenty, as everyone’s second choice, could have eventually become their first choice as other candidates burned out. 

Meanwhile, Michael Brendan Dougherty has been waging a one-man campaign to legitimize Jon Huntsman in the perceptions of GOP primary voters. It’s a tough task, given the way Hunstman has chosen to run his campaign, but Dougherty makes a reasonably strong case
