I don’t think Pachauri is unaware. He is un-honest. He previously expressed surprise about the very same issue and vowed to investigate, at least according to that right-wing rag The Guardian:

Rajendra Pachauri, the head of the U.N. Panel that shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, said he would look into the apparent temperature plateau so far this century.

I took his vow to look into it as saying he’d make sure it didn’t happen again. Since you can do that with temperatures, as we have seen. Speaking of which, last night we received some filings from NASA in our FOIA litigation in which they admit to years of violating its own rules and, more critically, federal ethics requirements. More on which later.
