April 17th is Syrian Independence Day. The “Enough Silence” campaign is organizing protests around the world “to remind the Syrian authorities that the independence is still incomplete because the Syrian [people] are not free!” The announcement notes that “the prisoners of opinion in Adra Prison have expressed their gratitude to all the participants and that they will organize a hunger strike from inside their prison the same day.”
The Washington, DC demonstration is scheduled for 12 to 2 PM tomorrow in front of the Syrian Embassy at 2215 Wyoming Avenue NW. The organizers suggest that participants wear black t-shirts.
