A three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco is hearing oral arguments today on California’s voter-approved state constitutional amendment defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman. A lower court had previously found that this state constitutional amendment was unconstitutional, decreeing that the U.S. Constitution not only permits but actually requires same-sex marriage.
Given the composition of this panel, I’d expect the decision to be upheld and for the case to move forward. You can watch the proceedings on C-SPAN.
