Late in the second quarter of Sunday night’s 42-17 thrashing of the San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Demaryius Thomas for his 509th TD pass of his career, breaking the NFL’s record of 508 set by Bret Favre. Dan Marino is in a distant third place with 420 TD passes, with Tom Brady and Drew Brees (both still active, but unlikely ever to get anywhere near Manning’s record) tied for fourth with 372 TDs each.
In his post-game interview, Manning gave credit to his past and present teammates and coaches, and said he was humbled to be in the same category of the great QBs who played before him (and some who are playing today.)
Congrats to Peyton Manning, a tremendous athlete and class act.
