Here is part of what President Obama had to say yesterday following his visit in Orlando with the loved ones of those murdered in the ISIS attack last weekend:
Today, once again, as has been true too many times before, I held and hugged grieving family members and parents, and they asked, why does this keep happening? And they pleaded that we do more to stop the carnage. They don’t care about the politics. Neither do I. Neither does Joe. And neither should any parent out there who’s thinking about their kids being not in the wrong place, but in places where kids are supposed to be.
And now let me remind you what President Obama said last October, a mere 8½ months ago, following the shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon:
And, of course, what’s also routine is that somebody, somewhere will comment and say, Obama politicized this issue. Well, this is something we should politicize.
The families of those who died in both Orlando and Roseburg might not care about the politics, but President Obama most certainly does. It is utterly dishonest of him to suggest otherwise.
In fact, President Obama desperately cares about the politics. He has to make Orlando about gun control. Because if he doesn’t it exposes how feckless and futile his Administration has been in combatting ISIS, an organization he infamously dismissed as a “jayvee squad” not so very long ago.
Not only does ISIS control vast amounts of territory in Iraq, Syria and, for that matter, Libya, but in the space of six months is responsible for the murder of American civilians in two of the most populous states situated on opposite sides of the country. Of course, Obama minimizes this by saying they were lone wolves. But lone wolves seem to travel in packs.
ISIS is a part of global phenomenon that is radical Islam whose mission it is to make America and the rest of Western civilization submit to its caliphate. One needn’t travel to Iraq, Syria and Libya to join their fight. ISIS is perfectly happy for its followers who pledge allegiance to it to murder civilians at Christmas parties, a gay nightclub or otherwise wantonly kill Americans wherever and whenever possible. Let’s not forget that after the Paris attacks in November, ISIS issued a statement which read, “The American blood is best, and we will taste it soon.” Well, ISIS has tasted American blood in San Bernardino and Orlando and no gun control measure proposed by President Obama will satiate this appetite.
