The First Church of Leftism, like all churches, has its sacraments, the first among them being unrestricted abortion, up to and even after birth. This sacrament is ahead even of single payer health care (government medicine in plain English), identity politics, bike paths, and light rail.
Commenting on a bill in the Virginia legislature that would allow a woman to elect to have her child destroyed after it is born, Virginia Governor Ralph Northam, a pediatrician for heaven’s sake, signaled his support for infanticide by parroting the leftist line that a woman, in consultation with her physician, should be able to determine if her child, even if this child is now in the world, should live or die.
If there is a moral difference between a woman consulting with her doctor to determine if her child should live or die, or a woman consulting with a hit man to determine if her husband should live or die, I don’t know what it is.
The late, great Florence King called euphemisms “verbal stool softeners.” This is exactly what “pro-choice” has always been. If the other side in this debate is termed pro-life, then in the name of clarity and truth the leftist side should be called what it plainly is, pro-death. Husbands and boy-friends beware. You may be next.
