Let’s Suppose The Russians Take Trump Up on His Suggestion

Donald Trump may have backed Hillary Clinton into a corner when they overreacted to his suggestion that the Russians hack Hillary’s e-mails, but Trump may have backed himself into a corner as well.

Trump’s remarks might have been off-hand, but an off-hand remark by John Kerry led to the Russian organizing a chemical weapons inspections regime in Syria. With this in mind, let’s suppose the Russians take Trump up on his suggestion. If they do and produce the e-mails and Trump is elected then Trump will be beholden to Russia. Do you think Putin does favors for free? Given that Trump is generally sympathetic to Russia’s foreign policy when Putin says jump, Trump will say how high and will do with the enthusiasm of Chris Christie going to McDonald’s to buy Trump’s Big Macs.

If Trump puts Putin ahead of The Constitution then how can he possibly put America first? Trump should be careful for what he wishes because we’ll get more of it than we would ever want.
