Filibusters, Voting Rights, Mexican Border — Car 54 Where Are You?
by

There’s a hold-up in the Bronx.
Brooklyn’s broken out in fights.
No more bail thanks to Woke wonks.
A million green cards with voting rights.
Biden’s border cages are short a child.
Non-binary pronouns have gone wild.
Car 54 where are you?

I will tell you where Car 54 is. It was defunded. Oo-Oo!

Under recently exited Mayor Bill de Blasio and similar inner-city blue Democrat mayors with Soros-funded district attorneys, the hubcaps have been coming off for years, stolen, never to be recovered. Now the wheels are coming off. In Biden–Pelosi Year Two, while a few Democrat leaders desperately try to divert public attention from the utter dystopian breakdown everywhere, the collapse is inescapable. The Democrats’ three-card-monte gambit to get the public to look away from the deck shuffle and sleight-of-hand, and to focus solely on the mendacity of a January 6 “insurrection” that never happened, is fooling almost no one outside Washington, D.C. The polls document that Pelosi’s January 6 Insurrection Hoax is failing miserably:

At this writing, the Real Clear Politics average has Biden at minus 10.6. He was running between +7 and +11 six months ago, when his media front-line defense finally collapsed and no longer could block for him after the Afghanistan evacuation disaster. Six months before that, he was in the plus-20s. He has been getting sacked ever since. As for the Harris poll, Kamala now is at minus 14. Those are the kinds of numbers expected for only the very worst vice presidents in American history: Spiro Agnew, Aaron Burr, Elbridge Gerry, Richard M. Johnson, and Thomas Marshall. Polls likewise have dragged Nancy Pelosi down to minus 24.7. The last time Washington hit minus 25 was in the Blizzard of 1899 — and even then most official counts of the deep freeze were no worse than -15.

Between March and August of last year, the Biden administration released 104,171 undocumented people arrested at the Mexico border on charges of entering illegally. In a textbook demonstration of “Catch and Release,” 47,705 failed to report to ICE within the 60 days they were given. OK, that’s the border.

Murder rates are through the roof, with Black Americans in inner cities like Baltimore, Detroit, St. Louis, Chicago, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York, and Philadelphia sustaining the brunt of the homicide epidemic. Black lives matter? With all due respect, they voted for the leaders and public policies killing them in the thousands. In great measure, Democrats and woke corporations have attained their goals by adhering to the Black Lives Matter agenda. So police budgets have been slashed, as have crime victims’ bodies. Hiring of patrol officers has been reduced drastically. Under incessantly merciless vitriolic attack, police in such cities have become utterly demoralized and have begun taking early retirement and pension. Those still on the beat avoid engaging criminals in situations where they fear an escalation may result in their suspension and even their incarceration merely for doing their job to protect and save lives. Like all professionals — people who engage in a field of endeavor for money — criminals know their business, and these are sweet times for crime: do the crime while it’s sublime. Jump the turnstiles. Smash and grab. Even if apprehended briefly, they will not be prosecuted for most property crimes, and they will not be charged with felonies. Their misdemeanor “hand slaps” will be pleaded down to street violations. It’s less unlawful to steal from a Walmarts than to hire a gig driver. OK, that’s crime.

The cynicism behind so much public policy maneuvering is particularly shameful and egregious.

The public schools are encouraging innocent children to use non-binary pronouns and to consider that they may be appropriate patients for sex-change surgery. If you are a boy, why do you like strawberry milkshakes — they are pink? If you are a girl, why do you like to play with toy cars? Can I prove you are transgendered? Can you prove you’re not? Some parents who resist their public school children’s nonsensical expressions of transgenderism suddenly get visited by government agents from Child Protective Services and are threatened that the state will take away their children. Meanwhile, White children are told to apologize for their skin color and privilege. Woke math. Critical race theory. American history as 1619 Project. Dr. Seuss banned. No more cursive writing. OK, that’s public education.

Afghanistan. Evacuation. ’Nuff said. OK, that’s foreign policy.

Record inflation spiking: at 7 percent in December over a year ago, Year 2021 inflation was the highest in 40 years. Supply lines in disarray. Huge shortages of truck drivers. Transition in less than one year from a nation that was a powerfully imposing net exporter of energy and fossil fuels to reliance again on dictatorial Arab Muslim oil sheikhdoms for dirty oil, none subject to clean-energy regulations like ours, tyrants as crude as the oil supplied. Suddenly, we are tapping our emergency strategic petroleum reserve. ’Nuff said. OK, that’s the economy and energy.

It is a mess. Some things cannot be helped: hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, the New York Jets. But the cynicism behind so much public policy maneuvering is particularly shameful and egregious. Biden lied and told voters that Trump mishandled COVID and therefore even was responsible for deaths. If any political leader can be saddled with responsibility for any outlier numbers of COVID deaths, the Democrats’ once-vaunted Andrew Cuomo may have caused as many as 10,000 seniors to die prematurely. Yet it was Trump who implemented Operation Warp Speed. Whatever one’s politics as to Trump, whatever one’s views on vaccines and government mandates — give the man his due: there is no prior example on record of such a success story in developing rapid medical approaches to vaccination at the height of a yet-burgeoning international pandemic. Ultimately, Biden was handed the baton, and yet more have died from COVID on his watch in less than one year than died from it when Trump was in office and no one even began to have a clue. OK, that’s COVID.

And now filibusters and voting rights.

It always plays out the same with the Left. There are agreed-upon rules. In America, one side wins, and the other is the “Loyal Opposition.” But the Democrats launched the “Resistance” to try preventing Trump from governing. The Russia Hoax. Hillary’s campaign cash to Perkins Coie to Fusion GPS to Steele dossier to Mueller. They used the filibuster to block a series of outstanding Trump initiatives because, even when he had a House and Senate majority during his first two years, he could not muster 60 in the upper chamber. Mitch McConnell would not kill the filibuster because the rules are the rules. Yet no sooner than Democrats briefly emerge holding the White House and — barely — the House, and they immediately trample all their lofty speeches of the past half century that had elevated the filibuster to a veritable religious sacrament. They are shameless in their two-faced flip-flopping. Of the 48 Senate Democrats who now would dismantle the filibuster, more than half signed a letter to Mitch McConnell as recently as 2017 demanding he not dare. They are without principle on the filibuster just as they were outspoken opponents of illegal immigration until they saw its electoral value. Just as they attack Trump for challenging election results, while Hillary still maintains she won in 2016. So now they have at most 50 votes plus Harris as tie-breaker. (If she becomes president under the 25th Amendment, they lose that tie-breaker and lack a majority to fill that void with a new tie-breaker.) They cannot reach 60 to vote cloture, so they now want to dismantle the filibuster. Harry Reid changed such rules to get Obama’s federal judicial nominations through the Senate, and that opened a gateway for Trump to get 234 federal judges approved, including three Supreme Court justices, 54 judges for the United States courts of appeals, 174 judges for the United States district courts, and three judges for the United States Court of International Trade. Now the Democrats trample on decades of Senate procedure.

And voting rights. These are just some Democrat proposals to change the established foundation of honest elections:

  1. Vote harvesting: third parties can stand over you as you fill out a ballot at home, hand it to them, and they either submit it — or not.
  2. Felons’ rights to vote.
  3. Efforts to lower the voting age further.
  4. Bans on showing the same basic ID when voting that everyone shows when starting a job, buying beer or cigarettes, traveling by air, going to a movie, and cashing a check.
  5. At least 15 consecutive days of early voting. What lies behind extending voting so long?
  6. Voting by mail: (i) with no need to justify voting absentee; (ii) and even to mandate that states mail ballots to all eligible voters. By contrast, the few countries that allow any voting by mail typically set tight limits that restrict mail voting to people who are disabled, infirm, can prove they will be out of the country on election day or that they have good reason to fear for their safety. A 2020 report on OECD countries found that 78% of them either do not allow mail-in ballots for people living in the country or require a photo ID to get a mail-in ballot.
  7. Online same-day voter registration.
  8. Allowing non-citizens to vote as in New York City where 800,000 such people will cast ballots.

This Democrat Voting Christmas Tree wish list is not aimed at ensuring more honest outcomes but altering the field to obtain corrupted  results. And Car 54 is defunded.
