Biden at Morehouse: No Apology for Democrat Support of Slavery

With all the attention focused on President Joe Biden’s recent speech at Morehouse College, an historically black college and university (HBCU), it is amazing that Biden completely ignored the need for Morehouse in the first place.

Morehouse was founded in 1867. Why is that date significant? The opening of the college comes after barely two years since the passage by Congress and ratification by the states of the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution — which abolished slavery. A mere 23 percent of Democrats in Congress voted to abolish slavery, with 0 percent voting for the 14th Amendment, which gave citizenship to the freed slaves, and another 0 percent of Democrats supporting the 15th Amendment, which gave blacks the right to vote. All three amendments passed because of strong GOP support.

There was not a peep about any of this from Biden, of course. Slavery, of course, was what provided the need for Morehouse in the first place. Nor was there a word from Biden about just which political party had staunchly supported slavery in the first place.

As noted long ago in this space, Biden’s Democrat Party is six times on the record in its platforms supporting slavery. Republicans were formed in opposition to slavery.

And on and on goes the dismal record of Joe Biden’s Democrat Party — which he now leads — in, among many similar racial appeals, such as supporting the Ku Klux Klan and using it, per historians, as the “military force serving the interests of the Democratic Party” and the “terrorist arm of the Democratic Party.” When called upon to condemn the Klan at a party national convention, the party rejected the idea.

Biden’s party set up the “Jim Crow” segregation laws of the 19th and 20th centuries. Now it has moved from support for segregation to supporting what can easily be called today’s “son of segregation” — identity politics.

The long and short is that Joe Biden — President Joe Biden — leads America’s Party of Race.

And presented by Morehouse College with the opportunity to issue an apology for all of this outright racism from his party, party leader and President Joe Biden fell silent.

Shocking.

Not.
