A commenter on my column today actually accused me of being a GOP flack. My answer contained too many links for the site to accept it as a comment, so I take the liberty to insert it here in the form of a blog. GOP flack? Oh, really? Try this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this (and I could go on and on). I’ve been fighting the GOP Washington establishment for much of the past 30+ years. For me to say, therefore, that Boehner has come up with a good proposal to force serious cuts in return for action on the debt limit can hardly be said to be flacking for the GOP. Maybe it’s just 30+ years of experience helping me recognize a good tactic when I see one.
