It is being reported that an American, taking pictures with his cell phone of protests in Egypt, was stabbed to death.
From the report linked above: “Security sources told Ahram Online’s correspondent that the victim’s name is Victor Andrew. He was a 28-year-old photojournalist.”
Nancy Youssef, the Middle East bureau chief for McClatchy Newspapers, apparently tried to contact a US Embassy official in Cairo, and has posted an unbelievable tweet:
“You are a really inapproproate to be calling me about this at 10 p.m.” U.S. No 2 in #Egypt Mark Sievers, about possible dead citizen.
If true, Mr. Seivers needs the Foreign Service equivalent of a reprimand and demotion, at the very least.
