At CFIF, I discuss two very large controversies regarding education policy that are occurring in Alabama. With the GOP in charge of state government, lawmakers now have enacted a huge new school-choice regime. That’s good. But they still are balking at withdrawing from formal affiliation with the Common Core national educational standards. That’s not so good. The founders of Common Core had good intentions, but formal adoption of the standards as a whole is fraught with risk. I explain it all at CFIF.
