I Hope Israel Spied on The Iran Nuclear Talks

by

Yesterday, The Wall Street Journal came out with a report which alleges that Israel was spying on the P5 +1 nuclear talks with Iran.

Naturally, the Obama Administration is furious. But take a look at this quote from an unnamed senior Obama Administration official:

It is one thing for the U.S. and Israel to spy on each other. It is another thing for Israel to steal U.S. secrets and play them back to U.S. legislators to undermine U.S. diplomacy.

So this senior Obama Administration official readily acknowledges that it spies on Israel. It takes a certain amount of audacity to say. “It’s OK for us to spy on you, but you don’t you dare spy on us and use it against us.” But then again this is the Obama Administration and they specialize in audacity.

Of course, Israel denies it is or was spying on the nuclear talks with Iran. But I really hope they were. Nothing good can come of any agreement with Iran. Better to know what the hell is going on behind closed doors especially since the Obama Administration, in the weeks leading up to Benjamin Netanyahu’s address before Congress, publicly made a point of keeping Israel out of the loop on the “progress” of the talks.

Of course, even if the Obama Administration had been briefing them on the talks it would have been prudent for Israel to keep monitoring them. Israel can no more believe what the Obama Administration tells it about its talks with Iran than when the Obama Administration tells us that if we like our health insurance, we can keep it.
