This NBC poll is interesting not so much for the ranking or lead (which is virtually unchanged from a few weeks ago) but because of two other numbers: 1) the percentage of GOP primary voters who think the next President should take a similar approach to Bush has gone from 50 to 38%(48% now favor a different approach) and 2) Rudy leads by an enormous 47-16% margin over his next challenger in the “best chance of beating Hillary” category. This suggests that Romney’s “change” message may have a receptive audience while Hillary’s ascendency may be the biggest factor in Rudy’s favor. (Oh, and Ron Paul is at 2% while Huckabee is at 4%.)
