I can’t say I’m surprised by New Jersey Governor’s endorsement of Donald Trump.
After all, the two are loud, brash men from opposite sides of the Hudson River. Despite similar personalities, Christie largely eschewed criticizing Trump during his time in the GOP race. The only time I recall Christie taking Trump to task was when Trump claimed he saw thousands of Muslims cheering on the streets after the 9/11 attacks and even then Christie was relatively mild in his criticism.
There was no way Christie was going to endorse Rubio especially after taking him down in the New Hampshire debate before his subsequent exit from the campaign. As for Cruz, the two have little in common. Christie has neither Cruz’s libertarian nor evangelical streak. And what would Christie have to gain by endorsing Kasich? Christie and Trump are a natural fit. Christie is the consligiere to Trump’s crime boss.
In light of Christie’s endorsement, I wonder if the Trumpkins will now forgive him for embracing President Obama during Hurricane Sandy.
