Sandoval to Obama: Don’t Pick Me for Supreme Court
by

Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval has formally stated he does not wish to be considered to replace Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court.

Honestly, I don’t think Obama was ever serious about tabbing him. As I offered yesterday, the only reason Harry Reid would put forward Sandoval’s name would be so his son Rory could get another crack at running for Governor. Sandoval defeated the younger Reid in the 2010 Nevada gubernatorial election.

The other reason I doubt Obama would have picked Sandoval is because Hillary Clinton said she wants “a true progressive”. The fact that Sandoval, despite supporting both gay marriage and abortion, isn’t progressive enough for Hillary indicates she wants someone who will follow the party line rather than follow the law.

Under these circumstances, Sandoval is wise to stay out of this mess.
