For once I am in agreement with Donald Trump.
That Pope Francis would say Trump isn’t a Christian because he supports building a wall along the border with Mexico is precious when his home in The Vatican is surrounded by a wall. By the Pope’s own standards, he isn’t a Christian.
If Trump is unChristian for proposing a wall to be built then what of the people of Northern Ireland?
Should the Pope accept the Belfast City Council’s invitation when he is scheduled to visit Dublin in 2018 he will see the walls separating Catholic from Protestant have been up longer than the Berlin Wall. Does Francis consider those Catholics and Protestants not be Christian?
Trump has said a lot of loopy things in this campaign most recently blaming President Bush for 9/11 and claiming he lied about WMDs in Iraq.
But in this instance the Pope is throwing rocks from a glass house nestled securely behind a wall.
