Today the House, with significant Democratic support, passed an amendment blocking a carbon tax, sponsored by Republican Study Committee Chair Steve Scalise of Louisiana. It may or may not survive the Senate — although various positions against carbon taxes have received as many as 58 votes in the Senate, including some Democrats, in recent tallies, meaning the amendment might at least have a chance there — but either way, this is a significant step forward. It shows more cracks in the liberal edifice.
