You can’t make this stuff up.

Over at The Huffington Post, Nick Wing thinks he has found a gotcha Tea Party racist moment.

The gotcha?

Wing quotes one Ken Crow (accompanied by – gasp! – a photo of Crow with Sarah Palin!!!! Oh noooooooooooooooooooo!) who spoke at a Washington Tea Party rally that opposed the immigration bill. What is it that Crow said that was racist? This:

From those incredible blood lines of Thomas Jefferson and George Washington and John Smith. And all these great Americans, Martin Luther King. These great Americans who built this country. You came from them. And the unique thing about being from that part of the world, when you learn about breeding, you learn that you cannot breed Secretariat to a donkey and expect to win the Kentucky Derby. You guys have incredible DNA and don’t forget it.

Not only is there no mention of race, Crow also includes by name Martin Luther King and John Smith. King, of course, is the famous civil rights leader (note to Mr. Wing: MLK was black) and Smith was the famously devoted friend of the Native American Pocohantas, whom Smith repeatedly credited with saving his life (another note to Mr. Wing: Pocohantas was red).

For the record, Ken Crow is a self-described lifetime “cowboy” – which is to say he lives in the world inhabited by a familiarity with horses and breeding.

Crow may not be the most articulate man in America: Harvard and Yale he isn’t. But quite clearly in talking about “breeding,” as he did above, he was referring to the American “blood line.” America, of course (unless you are a liberal), isn’t about race. It’s about an idea. Putting together the heroics of Jefferson, Washington, King, and Smith – three white men, one of whom was famous for his devotion to a Native American woman, and a black man – Ken Crow was in fact lauding what Jesse Jackson might call an American “Rainbow Coalition”.

Yet Mr. Wing sees this as racist.

Which tells you, in the midst of all this brouhaha over Hispanic George Zimmerman (sorry, make that “white Hispanic”) – everything you need to know about liberals.

They are obsessed with race. Obsessed with judging others by the color of their skin. And they love to make a buck while doing it.

One would like to think the white Mr. Wing and his HuffPo employer would be ashamed.

But you would be wrong. Without racism, liberalism is a goner.

And we can’t have that, can we?
