Re: Storming the Capitol

A bunch of sites are highlighting the arrests from the health care protest today:

Roll Call.

Talking Points Memo.

This was not the 1968 Democratic Convention. Phil's photo basically indicated the makeup of the crowd -- a lot of middle class families.

The size estimates have also varied widely. NBC put the number at 3,000-5,000, while Talking Points Memo reported 8,000. I would put the number at around 20,000, or in the tens of thousands -- 99.9 percent of which went home without any incident with police officers.

It would seem wise for organizers of large demonstrations to hire aerial documentation of crowd sizes. Photos throughout the day, heads can be counted. It is insane to let MSNBC estimate the crowd.

As usual, the only ones arrested were the LIBERAL morons occupying Joe Lieberman's office.

My daughter just called from Reagan Airport...she said the crowd was about 5,000 in her estimate. She mentioned about the democrats scurrying away from the people and one idiot who told them to leave. The congressman from Vt did meet with her but she had a time tracking him down. Of course, all she got from him was a lot of BS.

MillionMan| 11.5.09 @ 6:50PM

So you, who weren't there, would put the crowd number in the tens of thousands, similar to the tens of millions who made asses out of themselves during the grand tea bagging kickoff event earlier this year.

A bunch is willfully ignorant white people stand outside Congress demanding that Congress not give them a policy that will help them immeasurably. Yup, sounds like Palin supporters to me.

Pete2| 11.5.09 @ 7:35PM

MM...you are one ignorant person, aren't you? Tell me,loser, just what is your purpose for being on this earth, other than to take up space. Your comments speak of someone who isn't dealing in reality.

NavyBrat| 11.5.09 @ 9:21PM

MillionMoron.

"similar to the tens of millions who made asses out of themselves during the grand tea bagging kickoff event earlier this year."

Or similar to the "million moron march" headed by Jew/Amercian hating Black Supremacists? Ok for the, but not for "we?" Typical facist.

The only people who are "willfully ignorant" are government slaves like you who have not the fortitude or the wherewithal to gain anything in your miserable life without expecting to have it handed to you. Take your victimhood & stick it where the sun don't shine. Your sorry arguments on behalf of that tired refrain have lost their bite. Go beg for more subsistence from your masters.

Socks| 11.6.09 @ 5:35AM

NavyBrat,
Right on and Bravo. Couldn't agree more.

Kitty| 11.6.09 @ 7:28AM

MM is ignorant; he hasn't a clue how his life will change for the worse under O's thumb.
...

Adam Smith| 11.6.09 @ 12:05AM

Estimate from one Dr. who was there was 50,000.

That's a lot of bused in ACORN thugs isn't it you racist moron?

All you clowns could get was a dozen sad sack, paid useful idiots to storm Leiberman's office?

Sounds like more racism to me. Joe being Jewish & all.

I wonder how Sen. Robert Bryd, sitting Democrat Senator and former KKK klavan founder would take your comments?

The left are a bunch of facist, Brown Shirt pigs who are straight out of Animal Farm.

No doubt you were hired with stimulus money to help shore up Bertha Lewis's criminal fraud machine. You media "image shapers" are a crackup and completely predictable.

Hang on to your hate bro, you need something to fill that hole in your soul created by your own inadequacies.

Rev. Wright and Obama are sure great mentors...

ggoblue| 11.6.09 @ 7:17AM

if it would help them immesurably it would be slated to take effect immediately, that way you commies could run on its benefits. the fact that it doesn't take effect until after obammies reelection proves the point. even its architects know it will be a disaster.

JimE| 11.5.09 @ 7:19PM

"A bunch is willfully ignorant white people stand outside Congress demanding that Congress not give them a policy that will help them immeasurably."
As compared to a group of lazy negroes demanding special rights and benefits to make up for their lack of ambition and ability.

Patty Anne| 11.5.09 @ 7:28PM

Leave it to the "TOLERANT" liberals to inject race into every issue. Tedious morons.

Sometimes it feels good to throw their racism back in their faces.

Ken (Old Texican)| 11.5.09 @ 7:26PM

Brian
We will piece the story together tomorrow, but you can bet your petunies...

YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHIN' YET!
We will be heard! ie: "You guys are fired".

Wait untill two hundred thousand independent truckers park their rigs.
Wait until fifty thousand oil and gas pipeline workers "forget" to turn on the valves this winter.
Wait until the grain silo operators have a "malfunction".
...watch the feds try to nationalize the national guard to transport food...and States "can't comply".

Watch the lines at gasoline stations, because of "difficulties" with logistics.

SoCon| 11.5.09 @ 7:31PM

You go, Ken! Patriots like you are precious, indeed.

I'm sorry about the senseless tragedy at Ft. Hood today. Pray for their souls.

Pete2| 11.5.09 @ 7:37PM

Now, there is a thought...

Richard Baker| 11.5.09 @ 7:42PM

Grew up in Northern Virginia. During the anti-war hijinks in the '60s, the violence and tear gas in Washington were rampant. I felt sorry for the DC Police. Having to deal with a bunch of immature brats must have been a real strain. Remember, when the draft disappeared, so did most of the anti-war movement. The protesters today were peaceful except for a miniscule minority. Of course, how dare anyone disagree with the Messiah. I forgot.

Pete2| 11.5.09 @ 8:05PM

Interesting to note that those arrested were left wingers protesting Lieberman's siding with the GOP over the healthcare debate. They were not a part of the other demonstration. The left gets arrested for a disruption while the right gathers to talk peacefully to their elected representatives.
