Up But Still Down

President Barack Obama is doing better in the approval rating game, but he's still behind.  According to Rasmussen Reports:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 34% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-eight percent (38%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -4. That's the President's best Approval Index rating in over a month (see trends).

It doesn't bode well for him if his well-delivered speech didn't move him into positive territory.  He's almost certainly irretrievably lost the fiscal issue, and budget arguments will reassert themselves after the glow fades from his talk.  On both health care and cap and trade, he loses as soon as the discussion goes from general (reform) to specific (tax and regulate).

The rasmussen poll is total garbage-it is a new system designed especially to discredit Obama. Rasmussen is republican operated propaganda machine. NO OTHER POLLS HAVE SHOWED OBAMA'S UNFAVORABLES HIGHER THAN HIS FAVORABLES----OPEN YOUR EYES WINGNUT!

Poooooor Frank , Its hard when your Marxist has been outed for the radical that wants to had over the greatest healthcare system in the World to the SEIU Goons and Americans are fighting back . Its just awful when the Obama State media doesn't cook up the phony Poll figures on a daily basis for your consumption. I think the only nut is you buddy so go back and drink some more Obama kool aid and turn on CNN or MSDNC and get a little more Obama state media indoctrination. it will help take the sting out of the real world.

Obama needs no help discrediting himself. His fraudulent promises more than suffice.

Poor Obumbler. The fake has finally been found out.

How is hope and change working for you dolts who fell for this smooth talking jerk?

Johnno| 9.13.09 @ 5:02PM

frank's a liar. Zogby (no repub there!) has had Obummer's favorables lower than Rasmussen's.

Rasmussen's 2008 polling results were the most accurate of all. Stop whining, franky. Libtard.

Bandow could be correct here. Obama may have "lost" these debates.

But to whom?

What is the intellectual counter-point?

The "conservative" critique of Obama was very well encapsulated by Wilson's outburst.

But that isn't governance.

And where was this political force to which Obama lost during the last 10 years, most of which were years when Republicans controlled Washington?

Between 1999 and 2009 there was a net gain of jobs in this country of ZERO.

Think about that. In ten years, when no appreciable increases in taxes were enacted, when, in fact, the largest tax cuts in decades were rammed through Congress, we had NO real gain in employment.

Who -- in the end -- are the Republicans, and what do they want?

What is their philosophy?

Where is their Bill Buckley?

And when I ask this, I'm asking where are the conservative intellectuals who, like Buckley, liberals HAVE to take seriously, whether they want to or not?

They're just not there. You give us Glenn Beck, weeping on television and blubbering about his anus.

Conservatives are letting down this country through their mediocrity and through their cynicism and through their incredible intellectual weakness.

And here ... here you talk of polls! You should know better. These things go up and down every day and mean almost nothing.

Do you think Reagan sat around looking at polls? No, he went and he FOUND Bill Buckley and many of the other THINKERS who built the conservative movement and he learned from them.

What the hell is becoming of you people? You sound almost nihilistic.
