Thus far, the coordinated effort by Democrats to portray
Obamacare critics as
un-American angry
Astroturfmobsters who are
tools of the insurance industry engaging in
political terrorism, has not reaped dividends. While it's
still early, the polling evidence we have thus far suggests that
demonizing the opposition has not boosted support for Obama or
Democratic health care proposals. When the White House and
Democrats launched their attacks on protesters early last week,
Obama's approval rating stood at 55 percent in the
Gallup daily tracking poll, with 38 percent disapproval. In
today's poll, his approval is back down to 53 percent, while his
disapproval is at 40 percent -- even though the intervening
period brought a better than expected unemployment report. More
specifically, Gallup found his approval rating on health care has
barely budged from three weeks ago, with 43 percent now
approving and 49 percent disapproving (compared with 44 percent
and 50 percent, respectively, three weeks ago). Meanwhile,
Rasmussen found that support for health care legislation
proposed by Obama and Democrats has dropped 6 points in the past
two weeks, to 42 percent, while a 53 percent majority now oppose.
Keep in mind that with legislation behind schedule in Congress,
August was supposed to be a month for Obama and Democrats to
regain the momentum and build public support for what they're
trying to do going into fall. We still have a long way to go, but
based on what we have to go on thus far, it doesn't seem that
attacking their opponents has helped win over any skeptics.
A majority of Americans are against ObamaCare and many of them
are sympathetic to the protesters. Most Americans don't take
kindly to being called Nazis and mobsters.
I believe the vicious, incendiary language coming from democrat
leaders is going to backfire on them. Big time.

States. They don't call fellow americans morons.

Amerigo- Give it a rest. Missy was talking about Congressmen in
her other post. If an American acts in a moronic manner, then he
or she is a moron. If a Swazilander, Latvian, Ecuadorian,
Spaniard, or a New Zealander acts in a moronic manner, then he or
she is a moron. Nationality doesn't trump foolishness.
I agree, though, when you say most Americans don't disrespect the
President, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Give it time, give
it time...

What.... if you don't agree with Obama, or you don't shutup like
Nancy Pelosi would like, then you are being disrespectful.
Give em hell Misty!
Missy| 8.12.09 @ 6:35PM
Really, Amerigo? You mean most Americans don't disrespect the
President of the U.S. like you fascist liberals did by calling
George W "BUSHITLER" for 7 1/2 years? Stop whining, please--your
hypocrisy is nauseating.
Thanks for the lesson in courtesy and civility; too bad you
liberals didn't use some with George W.
. Obama care doesn't have popular support?
well then I see usa`people hear the gov' saying:
"( medicare is too costly; and, to reduce costs
the gov' will expand services to non-elders?
featuring preventive measures?
) ?!
. elders are now getting whatever they can talk their doctor
into;
but with Obama care,
they are going to have their soda's taxed,
and be told they need to go on a Zone diet .
. if only usa`people could see
that the biggest cost-cutter of Obama care is going to be
manditory health insur' purchasing:
why are they even worried about the gov's health plan?
all the other private plans will be affordable too!
. however,
the gov' plan may be even cheaper
and be the only plan reachable by the unemployed;
so, many do indeed feel trapped into Obama care .
. the real venom is coming from
the same place it always has:
the life-vs-choice debate is obvious,
as most of usa's health costs are incurred
during the last year of life;
so, you must know,
the gov' will be sneaking into life-snuffing rationing
of elder and vegatative life supports
as the primary way to ensure costs stay down .
. apparently the other health insur'co's are silently
agreeing
there's no profit in bumping into pro-lifer's;
so if the gov' thinks it can do that,
there will be no fair competition;
except of course,
that there will still be the upper class and religious
who will be willing to pay higher premiums
in order to receive special and pro-lifer services .
. also, the gov' will be paying doctors more for
keeping people well rather than per service;
whereas,
the wealthy would rather have more control over their
doctors,
using them more for sports and performance than wellness .
. finally, I wonder how much of the opposition
might be thinking they already get free health care
any time they care to sit in the emergency room?
. to them, the Obama care is just another fat tax needle .

Folks, the debate is over. Words are totally useless at this
point.
Most people who fancy themselves "thinking people" don't buy the
newspaper because of the comics page or pay attention to childish
cartoons with talking animals doing goofy things. They have a
blind spot that's a mile wide. "The Grand Canyon" is pretty in
pictures but to stand at its edge is to be consumed by awe.
The comics reflect our archetypes and define their image.
Remember Boris and Natasha from Rocky and Bullwinkle? Boris is
the sneaky evil villain. He has an oily mustache and slinks
around. He is the visual depiction of the cartoon bad guy. The
villains in our movies and cartoons all look like him. Looks
frame the character before a word is spoken.
Most people think in archetypes. It is the way they get through
life without having to analyze and parse everything. Life's way
too short to live it inside your head. Once a figure assumes the
iconic image of a villain they ain't buying The Brooklyn Bridge
from him - no matter how good the sales pitch.
That's how people are seeing Obama and his gaggle of sycophants.
They were swindled. They were sold sweetness and light and the
calming of angry waters. Bipartisan harmony, transparency, lower
taxes, cut government spending, shepherd the sick and the lame.
Bait and switch.
The analyst, the pollster, the politician are like the guy who
pores over meteorological charts to find out if it's raining.
Look out the window dummy.
