A new Rasmussen poll shows Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) only leading possible Republican challenger Carly Fiorina by four points, 45 percent to 41 percent. In addition to the closeness of the race this early out, Boxer is below 50 percent, which is dangerous for an incumbent.

That said, Boxer has looked vulnerable before and cruised to reelection. (Though often the Republicans have failed to get top-tier challengers for her.) An earlier Rasmussen poll that showed her leading by nine roughly coincided with a Field poll that her crushing Fiorina by 30 points. So we'll have to see more.

She has looked vulnerable before, but was blessed with incompetent opponents. That's how many seemingly vulnerable politicians hang on.

California is an absolute economic disaster. Fiorina may be the single best type of candidate to run as a republican right now out there. Of course, we don't know what kind of candidate she will be. But I think she has the right resume.

Has anyone tried to recruit a car dealer whose business was destroyed by Obama. Nothing motivates a candidate as revenge.

Anyone is better than Barbie Boxer. UGH!

Carly is definitely a step up.

In October of 2008 I, and many, many other Californians, e-mailed, faxed and called Boxer telling her to vote "NO" on the first TARP (bank bailout.) Calls were something like 300 to 1 against the bailout and the voters made their position very clear. Did Boxer listen to the overwhelming will of her constituents? No. She voted for that piece of junk that allowed the bankers unlimited control over the US economy and huge bonuses instead of the destruction they deserved. Our economy, our middle class, and our children’s future all destroyed to protect the massive wealth of the very people who created this mess.

I will not vote for anyone who can so blatantly ignore the will of the people she was supposedly elected to represent. This has nothing to do with party – if you think there is a real difference between the Republicans and the Democrats you are not paying attention. Both are owned by corporate interests and both will sell your freedom if it will make them richer. It’s time to throw them all out and start over. Not throw out all of them except your guy because “he’s different.” Get rid of anyone who is not doing their job and listening to the majority voice. Start with Boxer and hopefully every other Congress critter up for election this year. This is still our country. They do not have a right to get rid of all decent jobs, give corporations more rights than individuals, give our taxes to stupid, corrupt corporations, and make us thank them as they destroy this great country!
