The Washington Post's Chris Cillizza
highlights another poll showing Senate Majority Leader Harry
Reid to be no shoo-in for re-election in 2010:
Just 38 percent of voters had a favorable opinion of Reid as
compared to 50 percent who had an unfavorable opinion in a
Mason-Dixon poll conducted for the Las Vegas Review
Journal.
Asked whether they were planning to vote to reelect Reid next
fall or would vote to replace him, 35 percent said they would
cast a vote for Reid while 45 percent said they planned to
replace him. Another 17 percent said they would consider
replacing Reid.
Of course, for these numbers to mean anything the Republicans
first must recruit a credible challenger capable of beating Reid.
Rep. Dean Heller is a possibility, but he is not well known
statewide. Reid was nearly defeated in 1998 by John Ensign, the
Republican who now holds Nevada's other Senate seat, and
Republicans sore about the strong 2008 Democratic challenge to
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell wouldn't mind having Reid
join the ranks of Tom Daschle.
Unfortunately for the GOP, their party is on life-support right
now, the RNC president might as well be a cardboard cut-out and
doesn't really stand for anything signficant, the NRSC supports
Democrat-lite candidates (ie moderates) and/or party defectors,
and the overall party is rudderless and devoid of any leadership.
A signficant vacuum.
Reid has been vulnerable for some time now, and the GOP has yet
to put up a decent candidate out there, you know, one without an
indictment or criminal background. Time is of the essence, and
the GOP is blowing it out the door.

So John G, are you saying that only you democrats are holy? I beg
to differ. Democrats have a few skeletons in their closets too.
Just to name one; do you think that a two month, suspended
sentence was sufficient for Ted Kennedy, for the wrongful death
of Mary Jo Kopechne? He left the scene of a fatality in which he
was driving. It was called an accident, but if he was taking her
where he said he was, why were they even on that bridge? It
wasn’t on the way to their supposed destination. Did he even
attempt to save her? If he wasn’t man enough to save her himself,
why didn’t he seek help immediately? It’s possible that Mary Jo
might have found an air pocket inside the car and could have
survived until someone was able to rescue her. He just left her
to die! That sounds like a real democrat hero to me!
Which is worse; for the RNC president to not stand for anything
significant, (in your views) or for the president of the United
States to be pushing as hard as he is for so many anti-American,
anti-life and anti-decency programs? I couldn’t stomach Bill
Clinton, but Obama is making him look like a real solid citizen!
You might like to get your own “mafia meisters” in line before
you pick on the republicans.

. Ought to be more careful with his lies about Palin. His
mischaracterization of her as a "religious fanatic", for example,
is dishonest because not only is she understated in her personal
religious expression, but because she is outspoken in her
tolerance and support for the faiths of others. Bob knows this,
