Months after people like me raised the alarm about the Bush and Obama administrations' incipient Fascist corporatism, it seems America is catching on.

As RealClearPolitics noted, Fox Business News reporter Cody Willard spoke the unpalatable truth today:

"You got to love this one right here," he said, pointing to a sign held by a young girl. "'I'm only eleven and deep in debt.' She had to pay for the $160 billion Republican stimulus package that came out in 2007. Now she is paying for the $800 billion Republican Democrat fascist stimulus package that is coming out this time. Guys, when are we going to wake up and start fighting the fascism that seems to be permeating this country?"

If you want to watch for the rise of fascism, look for the following:

1. Militarism and a cultural valorization of action for action's sake. Closely related is anti-intellectualism, and a belief that education turns people into socialists.

2. Fostering of crony capitalism and encouragement of war profiteering. (OK, I'll give you that one.)

3. Scape-goating of minority groups.

4. Use of propaganda that a) foments anger against external enemies real or imagined; and b) constantly warns that there are hidden elements within that will "stab in the back" attempts to defend the country. (Sound familiar?)

5. Rampant intimidation or elimination of people or parties who challenge or criticize the state. (No, nothing like that has happened in this country in a long time.)

6. What the writer Walter Benjamin referred to as "the aestheticization of politics;" politics as a death cult.

7. The cultural valorization of irrationality; angry nativism (blood and soil movements); tribalistic fealty to the state.

8. Talk of "secret" or shadow enemies within and without -- nameless, faceless, stateless predators who are waiting to pounce and destroy the country.

Three or more, and you have incipient, inchoate, oncoming fascism. Four or more, God help you.

Jeremiah et al --

You make powerful arguments. You wield flawless logic. How could I have hoped to prevail against such philosophers?

Yes! You caught me. I'm a fascist! I'm a fascist! And I thought I could get away with it! How foolish of me, with such watchful patriots as you patrolling the walls of America!

Obama Drules| 4.15.09 @ 10:43PM

Not only are you a fascist, you are a Nazi. Coercion is your thing. We see right through you, loser.

Wow, the video was amazing. I'm sure leftist-liberals are all upset because they aren't used to hearing the politically incorrect truth. Way to go!

Hmmm.....

"1. Militarism and a cultural valorization of action for action's sake. Closely related is anti-intellectualism, and a belief that education turns people into socialists."

Kinda like the need to "do something" WRT the economy? Phrases like "hopenchange" or "too big to fail?" As far as the second point, read a public school social studies textbook lately?

"3. Scape-goating of minority groups."

"4. Use of propaganda that a) foments anger against external enemies real or imagined; and b) constantly warns that there are hidden elements within that will "stab in the back" attempts to defend the country. (Sound familiar?)"

Sounds VERY familiar. Sounds like a DHA memo I read recently.

"5. Rampant intimidation or elimination of people or parties who challenge or criticize the state."

Rush, Glenn Beck, etc etc.

"6. What the writer Walter Benjamin referred to as "the aestheticization of politics;" politics as a death cult."

The American Left is a death cult.

"7. The cultural valorization of irrationality; angry nativism (blood and soil movements); tribalistic fealty to the state."

Obamabots anyone?

"8. Talk of "secret" or shadow enemies within and without -- nameless, faceless, stateless predators who are waiting to pounce and destroy the country."

See DHS memo.

Like: gun owners, pro-lifers, people who listen to Rush, people who attended "tea parties," etc.

Great fisking of the wacko, Crusader. Funny how they don't see what they do, and even if they do, somehow coming from them it's all right and just. Talk about brainwashing.
