Miracle on the Hudson

God bless all the New York City rescue workers, who were reportedly able to safely evacuate all passengers onboard the flight that crashed into the Hudson River after it's engines were taken out by a flock of geese. And kudos to the pilot, who by all accounts did an incredible job gliding the plane to a stop on the water.

"God exists", Richard Dawkins told the NYT this afternoon.

see, there is a God, but He is so tired of the chittering classes he only listens to us in an emergency, sometimes.

Give that pilot a raise!

give him a new plane to fly too. the insurance company will be busy with this one for awhile.

when the weight of the paperwork matches the weight of the plane...

It is an irony, that the inspirations of planes are also the biggest threat.
Due to the obvious circumstance, Flight 1549 was probably one of the most perfect water landings in the history of aviation.
As I witness it from my apt windows, my first thought was 9/11.
Before, I gathered my thoughts and collected myself, a flotilla of FERRIES, BOATS, NYPD, NYFD, were all surrounding the plane. Was amazing to watch the speedily manner the rescue hit the scenes.
The media also responded immediately, it was allover the net moments after and they kept updating the facts as it was developing. My coddle goes to the veteran pilot for his ultimate performance.

So many things stand out here. The fact that we got a happy ending being one. There is so much negativity out there, so many systems breaking down. That something worked out well feels like a miracle in itself. And let's hear it for experience and maturity, which is what the pilot brought to the event. This is what matters in tough situations. Kinda makes Obama look rather puny IMO, with all his puffed up self-agrandizement and "cool." He's not cool - Sully is cool!

Alan Brooks, want to cite that Dawkins comment? And if god was behind the rescue, why did he let the engines fail in the first place? Or allow so many other plane crashes and take innocent lives? Kind of curious about that.
