The Obama Watch

The Great Pretender

Obama isn’t intelligent enough to be in the same room with Romney.

For years now, the American people have been told by the liberal media and other establishment figures about President Obama’s superior intellect. We have been repeatedly told that Obama is “the smartest person in the room.”

Naturally, most conservatives never bought into this myth. What with, among other things, his declaration he had visited “57 states with one to go,” his reference to the “Austrian language” not to mention his inability to discern the Maldives from the Malvinas. As Bret Stephens wrote in the Wall Street Journal in August 2011, “I just think the president isn’t very bright.” Stephens concluded, “But it takes actual smarts to understand that glibness and self-belief are not sufficient proof of genuine intelligence. Stupid is as stupid does, said the great philosopher Forrest Gump. The presidency of Barack Obama is a case study in stupid does.”

Yet the liberal media would not be deterred: President Obama is the smartest man in the room, if not the entire world. And if that wasn’t enough, President Obama apparently believed his own publicity. As noted in Stephens’ article, Obama reportedly claimed he was a better speechwriter than his speechwriters, a better policy director than his policy director and a better political director than his political director.

Now consider this observation I made last August:

But the liberal media can’t protect President Obama forever. The liberal media can’t protect Obama from Mitt Romney. Obama has to stand on his own two feet when he faces Romney one on one in three presidential debates this fall. With no teleprompter to guide him, Obama simply isn’t intelligent enough to be in the same room with Romney let alone qualified to fill an entry level position in one of Romney’s companies.

So it was when President Obama and Mitt Romney finally came face to face last Wednesday. In less than ninety minutes, the myth of the President’s intellect had been shattered as the American people finally came to realize that Obama was, in fact, not the smartest person in the auditorium at the University of Denver. Simply put, Obama did not belong on the same stage with Romney. Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words, as is the case with the cover of the latest issue of the New Yorker featuring Romney debating an empty chair.

Obama’s lackluster performance raised doubts even amongst his staunchest supporters. “Comedian” Bill Maher, who with much fanfare had given the Obama Super PAC Priorities U.S.A. $1 million last February, tweeted during the debate, “I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Obama looks like he DOES need a teleprompter.” While most people who voted for Obama didn’t donate $1 million to his re-election campaign, no doubt many of them are feeling buyer’s remorse.

Chances are Obama will be more vigorous and may acquit himself better in the next two debates. But he can’t make his record any better and he won’t be as good as Romney. It would come as no surprise if those performances aren’t as strong as that of Vice President Biden in his debate with Paul Ryan later this week. Could it be that Obama is the weak link on the Democratic ticket?

Of course, the liberal media isn’t going to abandon him wholesale. They will continue to make excuses for him as former Vice-President and current President of Current TV Al Gore did when he attributed Obama’s poor debate performance to Colorado’s high altitude. Some like the Democratic Underground claim that Romney only won because he had a cheat sheet masquerading as a handkerchief while others like Michelle Goldberg of the Daily Beast simply argue that Romney plain lied during the debate and that Obama allowed him to get away with it.

Nonsense!!!

The liberal media simply can’t face the fact that Barack Obama isn’t the genius they glorified to their readers, listeners, and viewers. They cannot fathom the possibility that Obama is far less intelligent than Mitt Romney, that he has accomplished far less in life than Romney, nor can they fathom that he is unable to stand on his own two feet against him. But if the liberal media finally come to the realization they can’t protect Obama from Romney, then his fall will come fast and furious.

With that said, I don’t underestimate President Obama one bit. Aside from a sympathetic and sycophantic media in his pocket (at least for the moment), he still has over a billion dollars at his disposal and has a powerful organization that is skilled at getting out the vote. Given the lengths he has already gone to retain his office, President Obama is a man who plays for keeps and this can never be discounted.

Yet it is worth noting that both The New York Times and his biographer David Maraniss have made the case that Obama doesn’t like debates in the first place. Well, he certainly doesn’t like debating Romney. Why would he? Obama knows he is simply no match for Romney.

But sitting in the Oval Office isn’t an entitlement. It is a job that must be earned and then earned again and debates are part of the electoral process. Should Mitt Romney prevail next month, it will be largely on the strength of this first debate in which he established himself as a credible, viable alternative to Obama. Should this come to pass, it would mean this was the moment that Obama demonstrated to the American people that he was unable to handle the responsibility entailed with being the President of the United States. It would also be the moment Barack Obama demonstrated to the American people that he was simply not intelligent enough to be in the same room with Mitt Romney.

What happened in Denver last week was simple: the American people got a real look at both Romney and Obama-no scripts, no media packaging, and unfiltered...the Emperor truly has no clothes

TLP| 10.9.12 @ 8:45AM

They also got a first hand look at Affirmative Action on Parade, to the nth Power.

This Affirmative Action Hire President, is akin to Al Sharpton getting a Gig on National Television.

Having him in the Oval Office, is like being assigned an African Doctor, with a Bone through his nose, an Elongated Neck, a freshly killed Antelope Carsass on his Desk and a Medical Degree up on the Wall from The University of Phoenix, with Alan Rosenberg's name Crossed Out, and Dr. Mubumbo's name written above it in Magic Marker, and spelled wrong, for your Triple Bypass Surgery.

There's a REASON he keeps his Pertinent Papers locked in a Vault, on a Volcanic Island, in "ASIA". (and, it ain't just because of his Grades) Who spends Million$ keeping Prying Eyes away from their Passport, and their Report Cards?

Someone who's Hiding Something, that's who.

There's a REASON he thinks there's 61 States.

There's a REASON he doesn't know how to pronounce Corpsman.

There's a REASON he thinks that Austrians speak Austrian.

There's a REASON he takes a TelePrompTer to a room full of 5th Graders.

He's not Smart. He's Clever. He's a good Liar. And, he is being Protected by a Media 24/7/365 that is Tasked, by our Founding Fathers, with the Job of Protecting US from the likes of HIM. And, if they did their JOBS for just One Week, we wouldn't even be talking about this Election, because the Moving Vans would already be in the White House Driveway.

Miles Glorious| 10.9.12 @ 9:05AM

Excellent!

TLP| 10.9.12 @ 4:11PM

That's it?

Excellent?

Tough Crowd.

Occam's Tool| 10.10.12 @ 11:56PM

Magnifique, St. Timothy!

By the way, I have always said that Obama is an idiot. A JD is a master's level degree.

KennesawJack| 10.9.12 @ 10:23AM

Way to start the day, Timmy! By the way, The first three sentences of your last paragraph are a classic definition of the term "grifter". That, and only that, is what this pretender is.

TLP| 10.9.12 @ 4:10PM

Total Grifters.

He never does any work.

He just laps up all of the Perks, and everything he says, is a Lie.

Him, and Sasquatch.

R Martin| 10.9.12 @ 5:55PM

"...and everything he says, is a Lie."

Including "and" and "the".

Stkman| 10.9.12 @ 10:24AM

Exactly Tim, The press was and is to report the news as fact and use facts to report facts. They have not only failed us, they or at least most of them have betrayed us to the point of treasonous behavior.

Von Mises Jr| 10.9.12 @ 10:25AM

"He's not Smart. He's Clever. He is a good Liar." You got it Tim.

The problem is that socialism was indefensible by much smarter people such as Marx himself. Mises wrote in "socialism" that Marx could not defend his theories of "material productive forces" where capitalism morphed to socialism and finally to communism where everyone has a Rodney King epiphany and declares "can we all just get along?" Mises "Socialism" explodes Marxism "One World Government" since it could not calculate prices. So it is inexplicable.

Obama protected by the MSM uses many linguistic tricks and fallacies of irrelevance such as non sequitur, equivocal and ambiguous straw men arguments, fallacies of composition and division, etc....But Mitt is a Harvard MBA that ran Bain Capital that required him to dissect and analyze other executive's management decisions. Obama could not use these fallacies of logic without Mitt tearing him to pieces. So he was stumped and could not use his debate talking points without being made a fool of by a much more honest and trained intellect.

Otis, my man!| 10.9.12 @ 10:56AM

Mitt Romney could go to any Fortune 500 Company, and be the CEO.

Romney is no Reagan though, he'll say whatever he has to say to become president and then move away from whatever he has previously said. First Romney says in the secret Jimmy-Carter-grandchild video how 47 percent of Americans are welfare cases- then he turns around to say he was "totally wrong" in saying so.

Controse| 10.10.12 @ 2:19AM

Well we know for sure Obama, or whoever he is, isn't fit to be President. Since Romney is the only other choice you're incessant misstatements about what he said or didn't say is just howling at the moon. If your audience voted for Obama, or whoever he is, once to prove they aren't racists you are encouraging them to vote for him again to prove they, and you, are idiots.

spike59| 10.11.12 @ 6:35AM

let's compare him to his opponent, shall we???? a mn who devoted 1000000000% more effort to 'defending Big Bird' than to protecting his own Libyan Ambassador, and when his Administration's incompetence got the Ambassador killed, promptly used his casketed remains as an election photo op, and proceeded to LIE repeatedly about what cause the ambassador's death-in fear that it might cost him some votes...that's utterly and totally profane

Controse| 10.10.12 @ 2:13AM

Here, Here! If I owned a house I would bet it that those sealed college records show he presented himself as a foreign student all those years. That helped him more easily get financing and admittance. Absent proof that he ever reclaimed American citizenship when he returned from Indonesia as a child the cataclysmic fraud would be revealed. And another thing. How on earth was he able to travel to Pakistan during the time American citizens were forbidden to travel to Pakistan on an American passport? Maybe he didn't travel on an American passport.

And the Dems are confused about the party line for Obama's disaster.

Was it the altitude? Was it the attitude? Was Romney lying but Obama to stupid too realize Romney was lying? Was Obama too stupid to answer the lies if there were lies? So many questions.

Jack in Wi| 10.9.12 @ 7:36AM

One debate does not make an election. The candidates are basically tied. Romney has been running a rotten campaign for at least 3 months. His foreign policy speech yesterday wasn one big nothing. I hope Mitt wins. But so far it is a toss up.

Joellen| 10.9.12 @ 8:02AM

Jack, please give it up already. Obama is very very very BAD for America. Can you just deal with that? As for Obama, he isnt the only one who has been highly overrated for his intelligence. I remember debating a friend years ago on how Hillary was not qualified to be the Senator for NY. She repeated the very same line they use for every democrat, dont you know: "Well she's the smartest woman in the world". I must say I was shocked that my friend, who is intelligent, could be that gullible to spin. As for Gore's recent spin on Obama's failure, seems to me Gores been lacking Oxgen for a long time now. Time to come down to Earth IGOR.

Obama is affirmative action taken to a ridiculous conclusion. He’s been pampered and pushed along all his life by a social guilt trip gone haywire that eventually led him to believe he really was good. Then conceit set in.

When I see Obama I think of Alan Bond. Bond used to be a regular on the TV show “Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser” in the 1990s. I never understood why and never heard him utter anything perceptive about the stock market. He was a fraud. Bond is now in federal prison, convicted of theft and financial mismanagement.

Who Knows?| 10.9.12 @ 9:44AM

Perfect!

CJW| 10.9.12 @ 8:21AM

The lefty Dem explanation of Obama's poor debate is that Romney was lying. If Romney did lie, and the lies so obvious, then why did not Obama respond to Romney to point out the false statements? If you believe the DesperateDems then you have to believe that Romney lied and Obama is too stupid to realize Romney lied and too stupid to respond.

It took Obama's handlers several days to concoct the "Romney lied" defense.
Even weird Algore tried to explain Obama by blaming the altitude. Bill Maher thinks it was weed.

The problem is not that Obama had a "bad performance." The fact is Obama cannot defend his record because his record is lousy.

He cannot look at Romney and accuse him of lying because he knows it is not true, and he knows he, Obama, has lied about reducing the deficit, covered up BenghaziGate, and Fast and Furious.

Hillary's charge that Obama cannot handle the 3AM call is evidently true .

Louis Jenkins| 10.9.12 @ 8:44AM

The Potus is surrounded in lies and falsehoods. His policies, well, they just plainly stink. He had no way to defend what he has done and what he is doing to America. To expect him to defend his case is expectations beyond ledger domain. The Dems have taken Hillary policy of suspension of all disbelief to new heights, Essentially, they have made their bed, now they must sleep in it.

Sorry to disagree here, but for a substantial number of Americans, sitting in the Oval Office IS an entitlement based nothing more than a promise to "spread the wealth around," and dispense "social justice."

Anthony| 10.9.12 @ 9:10AM

The Left has spent all of their of their phony intellectually bankrupt capital on Obozo, and he has failed brillantly right in front of their eyes.
All of affirmative action's false promises and political correct bootstrapping has only demonstrated that it was all to passify and placate leftist guilt.
At some point in time, one has to show that all of these good intentions have led to solid results, and Obozo can't do it, never could, never will.
Obozo is a 3 D living nightmare of the bankruptcy of the American Left.
It's no wonder they are more off the wall than usual.

MarkJeff| 10.9.12 @ 9:12AM

"...But if the liberal media finally come to the realization they can't protect Obama from Romney, then his fall will come fast and furious." Yes, and if I may add, liberalism can never at fault. So they will throw Obama under the bus - where he belongs (and please run him over about five or six times, so he won't come back) - and blame everyone and everything for Romney's victory.

PolishKnight| 10.9.12 @ 9:49AM

The official spin that seems to have been passed down from the media mill is that Ryan "lied". Of course, that's a joke since they lie all the time. That's how the left operates: their opponents are ALWAYS liars, jerks, bigots, thieves, selfish, racist, etc. while they only want to take what's theirs, do whatever they please (since they are caring, by definition it's not selfish), etc. That's how they fool rubes. I'm reminded of the last few episodes of The Sopranos where Tony is telling his therapist that he's not such a bad guy, that he likes babies, that everyone is corrupt so he's not that bad, etc. She decides to drop him as a client because she concludes she's an enabler. And she's probably right.

What happens when there's no "sane" therapist around to put a sociopath in check? To help them balance their altered conscience (and consciousness) so they can feel good about themselves, con the rubes, maintain their appearance and simultaneously know when they can discard such pretenses when they need to? The answer: they lose control. They have "panic attacks" and this is one of them.

The domestic debate is over. The next is foreign policy and if Obama is going to collapse against a "lying" political opponent, what about when he deals with someone such as Putin who is under no obligation to play nice with him? Or China? Or the middle east? The problem with a president claiming to be a victim is that presidents are not supposed to be victims!

guru4u | 10.9.12 @ 9:55AM

America has been outed in this election season. About half of the country has fallen under the charms of this dimwitted Obama. I hate it that he has not been up to the job. I want every president to do well. I want an election to be about chosing between two good choices. The idea that any President can fail this badly is repulsive. The fact people are questioning his intelligence is because of his failure not his skin pigmentation.

Frank Drackman| 10.9.12 @ 9:58AM

I've got a theory why EICOTUS(Evolver in Chief of the United States)performed so badly in the first D-bate.
He's stupid.
And it wasn't the Altitude, wasn't an Ali-esque Rope-a-Dope, something much more sinister.
"Afro-Sheen-Syndrome"(ASS)
If you study the debate photos, EICOTUS's hair is much Sheen-ier than it's typical Nappiness.
And if it wasn't for loopholes in the Environmental Laws, Hair "Relaxers" would be in the same category as Agent Orange, those Chemicals are NASTY.
So next week, if EICOTUS is back to his usual Nappy self, I hope Romney's on his game...

PolishKnight| 10.9.12 @ 10:20AM

There's a Polish joke (not an American joke that derides Poles, but rather a joke common in Poland) during communist times that goes like this: A man thinks about investing his money in the local bank and is worried about losing his savings. The manager replies that if the bank, the country, and ultimately the whole USSR collapses he might lose his money but adds:

"It would be worth it, wouldn't it?"

We're in a similar situation. For decades, Republicans including both the electorate and the elite have been "enablers" for leftists allowing them have it both ways (live in the suburbs while preaching diversity), enjoy market based economies to fund their Soviet state, and play ball in government and not rocking the boat. In Europe, they have strikes and riots every other week. This is not new for them. This has been going on for decades and they live with it because the media there is totally controlled.

It may take another term to "wake up" from Obama. Not just the "independents" but the Republican voters and elites as well. It's time to get tough and hone the agenda. To discard what is not bringing out the base or generating future electorate, political, or economic power. To get nasty. Until you do, you're not curing the cold but just living with the symptoms and we've lived with them for 50 years!

Hello mudda

Hello fadda.

This is me

At Camp Obama.

Not only is Obama not that bright, but the people who voted for him are the dimmest bulbs ever.

We humans are constantly in “motion”, and it ain’t Brownian motion, folks. Normal people always spend their waking hours---choosing.

Pay attention to TV, especially news and sports. What are the key words?

NEXT and RIGHT NOW.

You can choose to read this, or not. If you read it, to believe it, or not. If you believe it, to use it, or not.

Life can seem to resemble a bubbling over pot, on the stove, or maybe a gushing geyser, or maybe, these days, given how culture---the sum of people’s choices and the actions that stem therefrom---has been going, it’s like a backed up toilet bowl, totally full of waste products, rolling over the American field---a dirty tide.

See Drudge---2 girls fight over a fart, one dies.

Truth IS stranger than fiction.

Obama, bright?

Try a Dark Light.

When you read all the Obozo excuses from the so-called leftist intelligencia about the empty suit and his debate performance, one immediately realizes what truly scary alternative universe denizens they are.
A family member of mine had a meltdown this weekend defending Obozo, it was ugly and full of all the Michael Moore type distorted leftist lies which spewed fast and furious from his foam producing mouth.
It was a rant of the first order rooted in both a deep seated denial of reality and abject belief in all of leftism's empty platitudes.
What I witnessed was a breakdown rooted in total irrationality. Reason was never an option.
This is indeed the moron vote Obozo hopes to garner in order to pull off this last scam.
America is living a version of the movie "Night of the Living Dead Democrats".

The media's quest to provide any and all answers for BO's 'coming-out party' is totally self-serving. The unprecedented jump in the polls for Mitt is directly proportional to those voters who 'needed' a reason to jump ship and now they have found it- Those voters can blame the media for propping up the emperor, thus not directly blaming themselves. The voters who switch from BO to Mitt don't want to blame their own shortcomings, lack of intellectual integrity or laziness for their previous BO vote. And, now they don't have to- they can blame the media for its deception and feel good about voting for Mitt....Turns out the media is its own worst enemy and all those eggs they laid are coming home to roost. Game-Set-Match, and thanks for playing.

PolishKnight| 10.9.12 @ 11:16AM

Bravo Swimdog! That hasn't occurred to me: That a lot of people wanted a reason to support Romney either consciously or sub-consciously but didn't want to have to defend their decision to their co-workers, friends, or even family members who would accuse them of being "racists" or "for the rich" or "not cool". They realize the country is sinking under Obama, but if he looks cool and hip and they vote against him, they would lose their "cool club" membership. It's also about sitting at the popular table in High School.

Now they have an excuse. If Romney doesn't blow it, they get to be "cool" or at least on a team that's "cool" when it comes to having cheap gas to put in your car and a job.

Oldefarte| 10.9.12 @ 1:08PM

AMEN to that! My guess is that brilliance has been displayed by the above written article by Aaron Goldstein for expressing this TRUTH. The same truth that I have uttered many many times concerning this person. He simply is not, nor has he ever been qualified for this job as POTUS. Teaching can be a demanding profession [like many others are] but the requirements of same do not translate or are not extrapalatable to other professions. Teacher [egghead types] live tinside their own cacoon of a little world, otherwise businesses would constantly raid the academic world when in need of expert professionals to employ. When seeking thus, they search for proven professionals who have openly demonstrated their abilities in the fields desired, not for those of academia. This POTUS again was unqualified and this nation has been in peril ever since 11/4/08. The job of president demands a proven administrator within the political ranks that knows how to manage, to delegate authority, to demand results from subordinates, and how to manipylate the system legally in order to achieve the desired results. This POTUS has never so much as operated a popcorn stand in downtwon Chicago successfully, and to install him into the most powerful job in the entire world is ludicrous and insane!!!!!

Ian Cognito | 10.9.12 @ 1:36PM

Obama is a polished Reader. He can speak the lines provided him on the teleprompter with ease - convincingly. His lying - is it the product of others? Who writes the words appearing on the teleprompter - a staffer or Obama? Now there is a curiosity. Let's take this a step further - if what Obama reads is the product of others - he is surrounded by people who are no smarter than he. This melds well with gigantic egos who cannot tolerate (let alone admit) better minds around them. Obama's ego is preventing a better mind from saving him. The reason why Obama will not win a single debate with Romney is pointed out in this article and Obama's damaged psychy. Romeny represents everything Obama hates and blames. Obama cannot stand being on the same stage as Mitt and that cannot be controlled. Mitt is white, rich, successful, and in the Obama mind responsible for the racism that made his father abandon him. Blaming someone like Romney for the ache in Obama's life is the most direct path and a path that squares with Obama's world view. Obama's petulance will not be contained. The few watching the next debate will see the rage. That brief moment when Lerher was the focus of Obama's anger will be ubiquitous.

cicero| 10.9.12 @ 2:17PM

The Chicago gang and Obama did what they intended to do by winning the White House in '08. That gave them the keys to the U.S treasury, which they have pillaged for the past 4 years. The billion dollars in the current campaign funds will not be spent on adds or campaigning. It will be spent on salaries and other pass throughs to enrich themselves. He doesn't particularly care whether he wins. In fact, he would be better off losing. That way, he will still be in demand, and the hapless Republicans will let sleeping dogs lie, and not pursue criminal investigations, or forensic accountings.

For a guy who never held a real job, and never made more than a pittance prior to the past 8 years (as a Senator and as Pres), how did he ever accumulate enough to be buying a $37 million dollar estate in Oahu? Even given the fact that a "supporter" is gifting him the $17 million down payment, and his book royalties, the numbers don't add up. Unless, of course, the boys in Brazil, and the green energy guys were very thankful for all of his help, and he has paid a lot of people a lot of money to run his campaigns, who were also very thankful.

I saw in your comment last week that your ancestors came from Abruzzi. Ditto. What town and province? We are from provincia Aquila.

Bill8472| 10.9.12 @ 3:53PM

President Obama is only the most recent and most glaring example of why preferring people solely on the basis of race is a crappy idea.

RCV| 10.9.12 @ 4:32PM

Today's Jerusalem Post reports on rumors of secret US-Israeli talks on a joint surgical strike on Iran's nuclear facilities.

Hang on to your polling data.

CJW| 10.9.12 @ 7:11PM

So you favor a war three weeks before election to help Obama win?

RCV| 10.9.12 @ 7:36PM

I favor taking out Iran's nuclear facilities whenever the US and Israel think is the right time.

CJW| 10.9.12 @ 9:36PM

We all favor taking out Iran's nuclear facilitities and it should have been done, but you said "hang on to your polling data." You linked the attack to Obama's falling polls. The time is right when it helps Obama. Dems are desperate.

RCV| 10.10.12 @ 12:01AM

If the attack comes this month, Romney's debating skills will matter little. That's just reality. Having Iran emasculated and Obama reelected would just be a double win from my perspective.

And not all people favor taking out Iran's nukes. Jack from WI and the other idolizes of the nut who was given that special tribute at the RNC think Iran is no threat at all.

CJW| 10.10.12 @ 7:59AM

Jack WI is hardly a representative of convervatives or Republicans.

If there is an attack, conservatives and Republicans will support the attack more than lefty Democrats, especially Obama's counsellor and minister, Rev Wright.

If there is any substance to the rumors of an impending attack, then why did Obama not meet with Bibi two weeks ago? You would think that if there was talk of an attack our president would want a meeting with Bibi, instead of partying with Letterman, Beyonce, and JayZ.

Whether Obama likes Bibi, he should have met if there is any substance to the rumors. Don't tell me this was a clever ploy by Obama to ignore Bibi so Iran does not suspect an attack.

Regardless, if Obama needs a war to save his election, then he is in trouble. If GWB was president with these rumors, the Dems would be screaming about "wag the dog."

RCV| 10.10.12 @ 11:03AM

They had an hour long phone conference that week. Publicized visits aren't the way to discuss such issues.

Speaking of desperate, if you're still on Rev Wright, you've got nothing to talk about.

And if the Paulbots are such an insignificant force in the GOP, your RNC tribute to that jihad lover was even more disgraceful.

CJW| 10.10.12 @ 1:23PM

Rev Wright will always be irrelevant because it shows Obama's character, and how he lied about not knowing about the racist, anti semite, anti Ameraican sermons for 20 years.

You cannot defend his association with Wright, and you cannot dismiss it by using the Clinton defense that it is old news. It is relevant, and you know it.

You dismiss Wright, a close counsellor of Obama, and yet you try to link Ron Paul with Romney? Now that is desperate.

As for Bibi, only the meeting is publicized not the content of the meeting, and isn't the phone call now publicized?

CJW| 10.10.12 @ 1:49PM

correction! wright will always be relevant!

RCV| 10.10.12 @ 4:07PM

You had it right the first time, CJW.

I never for one moment tried to link Romney with Paul. I'm very sure he's embarrassed to be in the same party with him. As I've said many times on this forum, I'm not particularly worried if Romney were to win, though he's clearly not my choice. But he is a moderate by instinct, a non-ideological technocrat. His record in Massachusetts gives me some comfort that he won't go wholly off the deep end like a Santorum or Bachmann wing nut.

CJW| 10.10.12 @ 4:39PM

I knew you would say that, need that edit button.

Romney will be a good president. We need someone who understands the budget and the economy given the mess we are in. If Obama wins, the deficit will increase, inflation will increase, and we will be in serious trouble.

You are doing a valiant job trying to defend a bad client, Obama.

RCV| 10.10.12 @ 7:27PM

I've wished for an edit button many, many times!

CJW - My folks were also from Provincia D'Aquila, from a small hill town of Bari. It is now in the middle of a national park, but the clan still lives there. My grandparents came over in 1899 and 2000, and stopped in Pittsburfgh before landing in a small Ohio River town just downriver from Wheeling, W.Va., called Benwood. One of the cousins did a search and was able to put the entire odyssey together. Those folks were brave. I still am able to whip up some of the recipes, such as cheese ravioli, homemade pasta, and my tomatoe sauce will stand up to anyones. Ciao.

I am in Pgh and been to Wheeling and Benwood for work. Both are poor, especially Wheeling. Many from Abruzzi settled in Western Pa, Yongstown Ohio, and Detroit. If you want to talk about Abruzzi give me your email or I will give you mine if you do not want yours published here.

One of the silliest 'explanations' of Obama's poor performance during the Colorado debate I read in The Economist: the date coincided with his 20th wedding anniversary, and Michelle wasn't happy he hasn't devoted his whole attention to her... so she gave him shit behind the scenes. He was so depressed, that... and so on. How do you like it?

40 REASONS NOT TO RE-ELECT BARACK OBAMA. 1) Obama took 700 billion dollars out of the Medicare program and put it into his wildly unpopular health care program. This is despite the fact that even Obama has admitted, Medicare in particular will run out of money, and we will not be able to sustain that program no matter how much taxes go up. Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will put that money back into the Medicare program where it belongs, … READ MORE: http://bwcentral.org/2012/08/4.....ack-obama/

I'm reminded of that bit from "The Simpsons" where an angry mob arrives at Mayor Quimby's office to make demands of some sort:

Quimby: "Demand? You're in no position to make demands! You're just a bunch of low-income nobodies!"

Aide, whispering in Quimby's ear: "Um...election in November! Election in November!"

Quimby: "What? Again? This stupid country!"

Never before has "O" reminded me of that quote so directly...

One thing we can thank Ovomit for: it will be a LONG time before America again falls for such bullshit and superimposed misplaced guilt, and elects another unqualified black or mulatto.

I would never vote for Ovomit, but were the choice between Ovomit and Powell, or West, or even Sowell, or at worst, Keys... no question. NoBama.
