It was a set up.
From start to finish.
A quite specific, quite detailed plot to get Rush
Limbaugh, ruin his career, and drive him off the air.
Next targets? Sean Hannity and former Alaska Governor
Sarah Palin.
Lots to cover here.
Let’s start with Mr. Angelo Carusone.
Who is Angelo Carusone? Today he is now the “Director of
Online Strategy for Media Matters for America.”
But a few years back? He was just your basic left-wing law
student with a standard left-wing passion. That passion?
Totalitarian-style censorship.
Let’s stop here for a moment for a brief bit of historical
background — not a detour but a very necessary context.
It is a big mistake — a really big mistake — to dismiss
what’s being done to Rush Limbaugh as just some crazy guys at Media
Matters.
When we work our way through what Angelo Carusone and his
Media Matters comrades and others are doing when they target Rush,
or went after Glenn Beck, or plan to do in targeting Sean Hannity
and Sarah Palin and who knows who after that (Levin?
Laura?) remember: this is the way the Left — the global left
throughout history, not simply the American Left today — has
always behaved. A fanatical intolerance is part of the
leftist DNA.
The late Austrian free-market economist Ludwig von Mises
described the leftist method of operation as “fanatical and
intolerant.” It works, he said, this way:
Socialism… works on the emotions…to stifle the voice of reason
by awakening primitive instincts.
Primitive instincts.
And that most primitive of human instincts? You got
it.

I think Limbaugh, Hannity, Sarah Palin and all the rest have been in the end not sucessful. They have pushed all the wars we are stuck in now. The only one who ever had anyone near the fighting was Sarh Palin with her son. I used to be a big fan of most of these people until I figured things out for myself. The movement would be in a lot better shape if it was not full of braindead robots waiting to hear what Rush tells them to think. Do your own thinking. Can it hurt? They have neutered Rush anyhow?
jothepro| 3.27.12 @ 10:00AM
Hey Jack, Maybe you should be moving away from all the leftest noise you hear from your fellow asses in the peoples republic of Wi. Government forced medically unnecessary vaginal probes, forced medically unnecessary ultrasounds, reporting of reproductive history to employers (VA, TN, UT, FL, KS, TX, PA) - none of which is for improving women's healthcare - Which of these is "limited government" please? Please advise ...

Limited government is a reference to the Federal Government, not the States.

Contrary to what you seem to think HIPAA is still the law of the land and women do not have to share any of the health information with any employer.
This is a federal law and the states cannot make a law that overrules it. Not at this point. This that you speak of must have something to do with abortion.

"ugly thing to say?" I'd say it's a pretty accurate description of those in the "feminist" movement who use NAZI type tactics.

Most people realize that a party that cozies up to the muslim brotherhood is not exactly their champion in a phony, election-year "war on women.:
Brad Fregger | 3.28.12 @ 11:38AM
Tell me Comrade Purp is this part of the war on women:
"While Democratic femme-a-gogues continue their plaintive wailing about a "war on women," Kleefisch has battled vile misogyny from liberal detractors. When lefty Wisconsin radio host John "Sly" Sylvester accused Kleefisch of performing "fellatio on all the talk-show hosts in Milwaukee" and sneered that she had "pulled a train" (a crude phrase for gang sex), feminists remained silent. A former television anchor, small businesswoman and mother of two, Kleefisch's quiet work on economic development has reaped untold dividends for the state."
Where is your sense of fairness? ... have you lost your way?
Purp| 3.28.12 @ 2:34PM
First of all - that is disgusting language coming from a right or a left radio host. I don't support, I condemn that kind of language. And, yes, that guy is definitely due a slap down, regardless of his political affiliation. I don't know the man nor the woman he spoke about, so I am neutral on what her work does or who he is.
But, just as Rush's language is reprehensible, so is his.
The left however, is not passing 1100 laws at last count to rescind a woman's healthcare rights. The right is, so no, this John Sylvester is not part of the war on women, but he is a jerk and should apologize or be removed - just as is the case for Rush. The damage is done, and the owners of the stations and the people in charge better act or they will continue to lose if they support either of these 2 awful radio hosts.
Anna Keppa| 3.28.12 @ 9:33PM
Rush apologized for far less incendiary and offensive remarks than Sylvester's. Did Sylvester?
As for radio stations continuing to lose support --- you don't keep up, do you....Limbaugh's stations are doing just fine, and new advertisers are joining Limbaugh every day.

I will say this about the people at Media Matters -- they are doing a find job of destroying the democrat party.

I would start with RICO against these folks, using the U.S. Mail and other interstate means of communication to commit extortion and business and terroristic threats.
Stop being a jackass and defend their free speech rights. Because if you don't, yours are next for the attack.
Vern Crisler| 3.27.12 @ 11:34AM
I think the article is somewhat paranoid. Lord is ascribing to leftists more power than they have.
Beck's problem was not leftists. He shot himself in the foot by indulging in conspiracy theories, not to mention his Mormonism. Even conservatives were growing tired of him.
Rush's problem was also self-inflicted. He should never have apologized to anyone. Leftists take apologies as a sign of weakness. The object is to smash leftists into the ground (politically), not feed their sense of self-importance. Leftists need to be fought tooth and nail all the way until they are silenced. That's the only thing they understand.
Rush will survive because he's entertaining, funny, and informative. This is a ratings game after all, and that's what people care about. Remember, some of those advertisers who made a show of leaving Rush begged to come back once the silliness of the whole episode was easy to see.
So, don't worry about Rush. He will be around long after the braying dogs and jackals of the left have gone to that great commune down below.
DG in GA| 3.27.12 @ 3:00PM
Vern you are absolutely correct that this is a ratings game. Rush understand that. He says repeatedly that he is an ENTERTAINER first and foremost, and nobody takes Rush less seriously that he does himself. The people who seem to take him the MOST seriously? Liberals who don't listen to his show.
Rush, Beck, et al, understand that advertising is driven by ratings. The left has been successful in driving SOME people (Dr. Laura, comes to mind) off the airwaves, but those people had waning viewers/listeners to begin with. I have a friend who is in charge of advertising for a radio station in a mid-sized market. She says the money they make in ad revenues for Rush's show covers their expenses for ALL of their broadcasting. So the money they make on all the other shows is profit. They would be cutting their throats if they pulled Rush's show from their lineup, and they know it. She said they have a WAITING LIST of advertisers who want time during Rush's show. So if one advertiser drops out due to liberal intimidation, there are lots of others waiting to take that slot. Rush knows that. If Hannity, et al are less secure, I guess they just have to produce a better show. I would be too worried though. Beck went out on his own and says he's doing better now than he ever was.
Vern Crisler| 3.27.12 @ 3:18PM
Agreed. If I were wanting to advertise something, Rush would be the advertising pot at the end of the rainbow.
KM| 3.27.12 @ 5:24PM

They Divide us at every turn, by Race, Creed, Colour, Age, Religion, Income, and soon, by our Health and Ability to SERVE the State. As does he.
See? We've got bigger fish to fry, and GOD will provide. Rush and Sean and Glenn and Mark, will still get their messages out. The Party of Tolerance, Inclusiveness, and Diversity will try their best to silence the Truth, but the Truth has a way of getting out there. And though they would rather shed a tear for The Religion of Peace, than one of our Brave Troops who snapped after 4 Tours at the Front? And though they seek to keep us Penned up, and Castrated, like the Sheep that they believe we are, like the Valley of Death, we should fear no Evil, for GOD is with us, and will lead us to HIS Green Pastures.

The one before RR where upward mobility lead the world?

canuckistani| 3.27.12 @ 11:44AM
Like Rush, Maher has to be seen in its entirety.
Rush does a good job of creating a narrative around a simple headline each day. He can link fears, prejudices and biases to the most mundane, and chew up about 45 minutes of airtime doing it.
Maher is slightly different, but has the courage to have opposing views on the set. His views are tilted, laden with salty language, but his most peculiar views are almost always challenged live on air.
He makes no apologies about his atheism and is quite comfortable having guests dissent from this opinion.
The show is topical, funny and at times outrageously so. It is an excellent respite from the sanitized, repressed debate often heard in the MSM.
He has already lost a network show for his views and has found a home - like stern and beck, in other media. He also has a thick skin, and can thrive on grenades from the right.
Doctor Right| 3.27.12 @ 12:48PM
"Simple headline"?

Thank you Jeff for an insightful article. Many of us have been aware of much of what you told us, perhaps not the activities specifically of one Mr. Angelo Carusone, in conjunction with Media Matters, the front for George Soros.
The left are all in. This is their last gasp at totalitarian utopia. It's now or never, with their last best hope Emperor Obozo.
Be it OWS, the Trayvon Martin incident, the New Black Panthers, or this coordinated effort to silence conservatives and conservative media, it's all an attempt to cow America into leftist submission.
This summer is going "hot", more so than '68, as the left and Obozo intimidate America into his re-election. It will not work.

I don't like using mental health comparisons, but seriously, Lord is getting increasingly deranged. Not only is it as though a massive part of our history never happened – the Repub's southern strategy after the civil right act – but complaining about perfectly legal campaigns and politics to speak out against the filth spouted by Beck, Limbaugh etc just makes him look like a child whose toys have fallen out of the stroller.
Crassus| 3.27.12 @ 11:25AM
Tell it to your buddy Jim Jeffries, Jack.
Jeffrey Lord| 3.27.12 @ 11:35AM
Jack....
Hmmm.
1. There would BE no civil rights act without Republicans. 82% of Republicans in the Congress in 1964 voted FOR the Civil Rights Act - as against
64% of Democrats. And why did we have to re-do Civil Rights legislation in the first place? Everything in civil rights in the 1960's had been
done in the 1860's and 1870's. The fact that it had to be done ALL OVER AGAIN....is because your side pushed segregation, the Klan, opposed anti-lynching laws etc.
Wake up, Jack. Exploiting race is THE heart of the Left. Which is why George Zimmerman is suddenly not a Latino but, according to the NYT, a "white Latino." Which makes President Obama, I guess, a white black man?
This is a disgraceful heritage...and you're still at it.
2. The 1964 "Southern Strategy" GOP Platform of which you speak supported:
"Full implementation and faithful execution of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and all other civil rights statutes, to assure equal rights and opportunities guaranteed by the Constitution to every citizen;"
3. The Dems are on record - ON RECORD - as supporting slavery, segregation, lynching, the Ku Klux Klan, racial quotas and every imaginable idea based on judging others by skin color. The GOP's very existence is premised on opposition to all of the above.
Jack, my friend, you are seriously propagandized.

canuckistani| 3.27.12 @ 11:56AM
The Southern Strategy was an attempt by Nixon to tap into real redneck anger about losing their providential dominion over lessers, and it continues to work today.
When a majority of rednecks have completely perverted, not just dissenting, views of the president and critical issues of the day, the solution is not at hand, Jeff.
Instead of blaming someone, try looking in the mirror and determine what you can do to reverse the dumbing down of rednecks everywhere. We need them to move forward. They are a good source of infantry, but giving them the vote and two surplus senators per state is a dangerous gamble if you continue the politics of "them".
Jack London| 3.27.12 @ 12:05PM
I see - it's clear now that this 'get Rush' thing is just a smokescreen for you to fulminate about race. Rush and co are under no great threat part from declining interest in what they peddle.
So Jeffrey - it's your position is is that progressives are racists and the historical position taken by southern Democrats is still alive? That Nixon/Goldwater didn't move to turn the southern states red by taking the conservative white vote? In fact your history is faulty – the southern strategy was in the late 1960s.
I guess it is kind of funny to think of Obama in league with the Aryan Nations but that really does exist only in your brain.
I thing that warped mind of yours is living in a time warp – it's 2012 now, Mr Lord.

Eugenics, the survival of the supremists at the expense of the lower human races. Yes, nirvana lefty style!!!
Jack London| 3.27.12 @ 2:45PM
I'm sorry Jeffrey but you really do need to use some logic and precision in your writing. Jimmy Carter and Al Sharpton are not racists – they do not believe in the superiority of one race over another, as many of the posters on AmSpec do.
What you are saying is something quite different - that progressives try to confront racism, or at least a racism you do not admit exists, therefore they are inventing issues and upsetting people like you, for example when they question what happened in Sanford (how dare they!).
And no, the southern Dems or the Dixiecrats of the past were not progressives, by any definition.
As for the southern strategy, it doesn't get more obvious from this quotes from Nixon's political advisor:
From now on, the Republicans are never going to get more than 10 to 20 percent of the Negro vote and they don't need any more than that... but Republicans would be shortsighted if they weakened enforcement of the Voting Rights Act. "The more Negroes who register as Democrats in the South, the sooner the Negrophobe whites will quit the Democrats and become Republicans. That's where the votes are. Without that prodding from the blacks, the whites will backslide into their old comfortable arrangement with the local Democrats."
DTOM| 3.27.12 @ 4:45PM
Jack London,
You have confused your computer monitor with the mirror. You are projecting. You know nothing about the motivations of most who post here, except as they reveal them.

They are IDIOTS and DUMBARSES, and the latter is a race-baiter and pimp; no progressives instead try to instigate racial riots and disharmony all for political purposes, as in NEVER LET A POLITICAL CRISIS GO TO POLITICAL WASTE; what happened in Sanford happen very day of the week and the legal court system and judges and juries should/will take care of same not STREET PIMPS AND RACIAL HUSTLERS LIKE SHARPTON AND JACKSON['....Jimmy Carter and Al Sharpton are not racists – they do not believe in the superiority of one race over another, as many of the posters on AmSpec do.What you are saying is something quite different - that progressives try to confront racism, or at least a racism you do not admit exists, therefore they are inventing issues and upsetting people like you, for example when they question what happened in Sanford (how dare they!).....' !!!!!!!!!!!

Bob K.| 3.27.12 @ 12:04PM
Hey Jack!
But seriously! How is Lord's use of historical comparisons a sign of mental derangement?
Lord compares Carusone's tactics with the French Reign of Terror; Stalin's Gulag, Hitler's Concentration Camps and Mao's Red Guards which began with similar fear tactics used by the Intellectual thugs who ran these Nations.
Carusone probably has a picture of that great political murderer and intellectual Che Guevara on his desk. He is a Left Wing Intellectual like Pol Pot and Professor Abimael Guzman of Peru's Shining Path were. He thinks, like all these other people did, that he is superior to the "common" people who are Rush Limbaugh's and the Tea Party's natural constituency. That is why Limbaugh and Palin and Beck and the Tea Party must be shut up.
Jack, we await your defense of Che, Pol Pot, Guzman, Lenin et al. Go to it!
Jack London| 3.27.12 @ 12:11PM

Of course it is fool. It's called political intimidation, just as is described by this article. Why don't the despotic liberal bastards go after Limbaugh DIRECTLY instead of after his ad sponsors which have nothing to do with his political message and are only trying to sell their products/services upon his show? Why, because these sleazy bastards don't care who they hurt or impune in their quest for victory. They are ruthless animals intent upon THE MEANS JUSTIFIES THE END philosophy and they don't have the guts to ID themselves and to attack their target directly since they're typical spineless OWS/SDS type skumbags!!!!!
Bob K.| 3.27.12 @ 2:40PM
Jack,
Like you I don't like making mental health comparisons but I had to comment on the "mental health" problems and "derangement" that affect Intellectuals like Carusone.
In this case, it is their extreme, pathological egotism which drives them to try to stop the freedom of speech and expression of people they disagree with politically. This could lead to what happened to the people who lived where the ones mentioned by Mr. Lord ruled.
It is not as though this "massive part" of World History did not happen and was not caused by people like this.
Now, will you explain again why you want to shut up Limbaugh and company?
Jack London| 3.27.12 @ 3:36PM
Bob,
like Jeffery Lord, you are confusing censorship with politics. If you can show me any illegal violations of free speech here do tell and I'll support you. But what we have is politics - one side countering what I feel is the poisonous anti-American rhetoric of the right that is holding back economic progress in this country (such as via better health and social mobility).
In fact, you should welcome this kind of political debate, because what we can all agree on (possibly) is that we need more people to engage with politics and to vote.
Bob K.| 3.27.12 @ 7:54PM
The speech on this forum is free for us Jack. For talk show hosts like Limbaugh and Beck, et al and even talkers on the left like Chris Matthews it isn't. It has to be paid for. It's done, as you well know, by selling advertising.
What is poisonous rhetoric to a Socialist like yourself (Why else would you use the Pen Name of a famous writer who was an avowed socialist?)
is the very aroma of fresh air and freedom to America's working class, the Tea Party and to Reagan Democrats. You men and women of the left sold them out long ago.
Would you like the Tea Party to organize secondary boycotts against the sponsors of Chris Matthews? It would be legal just like the one Lawyer Carusone has organized against Limbaugh. It would also be an attempt to suppress free speech and against the spirit of the 1st Amendment which you are concerned about when I criticize your approval of this tactic.
Bob| 3.27.12 @ 8:43PM

Yes, let's all pretend that massive part of our history never happened.
Poli-Sci Profs are Socialists| 3.27.12 @ 10:28PM
College kids love to spout what their professors told 'em about this mysthical "southern strategy." If you're old enough to remember, you know that Nixon ran on a law-and-order platform -- his villians were student protestors, not blacks. Just remember it this way: Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act. Nixon came AFTER Johnson. The worst of the demonstrations for minority voting rights were all over by 1968, and the battle was carried on by the eighteen-year-olds who wanted to vote.
albert constantine jr.| 3.28.12 @ 11:45PM
Particularly since in 1968, George Wallace was the "Southern Strategy" candidate. Though Nixon is reported to have received 36% of the black vote, he didn't pull most of the southern electoral votes.
In 1972, Wallace was running in the Democrat primary again when he was shot by Arthur Bremer. Nixon won the South that time, but then, he won every state except Massachusetts and D.C.
In 1976, the South went for Jimmy Carter, who wore out his welcome there and just about everywhere else by 1980. In 1984, though RWR won the South handily, he won just about everywhere else, too.
Don L| 3.27.12 @ 10:49AM
So the atheist left (a redundancy) the mortal enemy of freedom sees as their best weapon for attacking and weakening us, is "social issues" (their printed goals - destroy the family, infiltrate the Church, pervert the culture-embrace death?) yet we are so blind and morally corrupted by their success in dividing us against ourselves and "Nature's God" (the only source of our inalienable rights), thus far, that all the right wing wishes to do is talk about the economy and hurl spittle at the people who believe that at the core of all evil, is moral wrong -while they demand the government leave alone their 30 pieces of silver.

Hi Dave. I would never as a Christian or a conservative try to "mess with your life". God won't either, but He will love you just the same. You may not believe in Him, but He does believe in you. Also God won't condemn you when your life here ends. You do that yourself in your unbelief. He won't try to stop you either. Please remember though, there is a consequence to everything in this life. Also, please give the existance of God some more thought too. It won't hurt you & one of my closest friends was a self proclaimed atheist just like you. He now is a minister & one of the most faithful people I know. As for ALL "true conservatives" should be atheists", sorry, but a "true conservative" whatever that is will not try to rationalize how we came to be here without acknowledging a far more intelligent being who is bigger than us & much more important than us calling the shots. Not to mention acknowledge the life of Jesus Christ who defintely was not like you & me. He did things & lived a life NONE of us could. Please do some good hard thinking on the existance of God. He does not wish to see any perish, you included & He will do things to change your life for the better beyond your dreams. Take care Dave & use the brain God gave you to seek Him out. You won't be disappointed. I promise.

Best post of the day. Every conservative needs to heed these kind of words. For without God we are not going to prevail in saving our communities, our states, our neighborhoods, and our families, grandchildren.
But with God -- all things are possible. And I'm talking about the God of the Bible.

Dave- you're mistaking "conservative" with "libertarian". Conservatism assumes God exists. Libertarianism- not so much. BTW, your opinions about the existence of God have nothing to do with fact. You'll find out- eventually. Try Pascal's wager, for a start.

Family farms were destroyed by the increased productivity of farming operations created by John Deere and the rest of the technological improvements in farming efficiency.
In 1900 about 85 of every 100 workers was producing food - today, it's less than 1 in every 100. That's what did in the family farm - progress! Not the evil free market. So find yourself a new big monster under your bed to believe in! It ain't the free market.

Bob| 3.27.12 @ 8:39PM
BS Screwtape, BS. Let me familiarize you with Wickard v Fillburn. Ever heard of it? Probably not, since leftists like yourself deal in fear, not facts.
The Agriculture Adjustment Act of 1938 was devised by the Roosevelt government to create an artificial scarcity of wheat to increase prices. As with so many leftist programs, this was an assault on individual liberties passed during a time of crisis, and the Roosevelt government used the Commerce Clause to justify the act. Fillburn produced wheat in excess of what the economic planners in the Roosevelt government mandated, and was taken to court for it. Fillburn maintained that he only used the excess wheat for personal consumption, and since that wheat didn't enter the wheat market, it didn't affect wheat prices and wasn't traded between states, so Fillburn argued it can't be regulated since it wasn't interstate commerce. The court, stacked with Roosevelt appointments (only one Justice was nominated by Herbert Hoover, the rest by Roosevelt), ruled against Fillburn, arguing that since Fillburn was growing his own wheat, he wouldn't have otherwise bought that same wheat, so he was affecting interstate commerce by not participating in the interstate market.
This throws out your whole argument. It was not "big ag", it was Roosevelt's economic planners who sought to play with prices who screwed over family farms. Government price control is what screwed over family farms. Roosevelt, one of the most leftist, progressive presidents in history (although Obama is giving him a run for his money), is the one who screwed over family farms.

You Screwtape seem to hold a utopian view that big government is upright and moral and that government regulatory control (that is unconstitutional to begin with) will always do the moral, right thing.
You Screwtape claim to be suspicious of anything big, yet fail to comprehend free market capitalism is literally hundreds of millions of small individual consumers making decisions in their own interests, which also serves to keep CEOs honest - if CEOs decisions aren't in comsumers interests then consumers will not purchase those CEOs products thereby rendering those CEOs impotent.
You Screwtape must be an Obama supporter by your examples of posts revealing that you lack intelligence and honesty, and lack integrity and character, which is entirely predictably consistent of a typical pathetic and despicable liberal tyrant wannabe.

Now, if I want a family farm on my back yard, I have to get approval from so many government agencies that I'll probably go broke before I'm able to even start plowing. You can even say that "big agrobusiness" has been granted a virtual monopoly by the government, by Roosevelt's government, and no subsequent President or Congress has limited that power of the federal government.

"Only if we fight back"
The fundamental challenge is how to effectively fight back. For the left “By any means…” is their operating principle. How does one effectively fight back against this unrelenting assault? The ministry of propaganda (media matters, drive by +white house) colors and shapes the news to suit their agenda. They are actively reducing our liberty and undermining our republic. How does one effectively fight back against this treachery in service of tyranny? What is the appropriate response to individuals and groups actively taking our children’s and grand children’s birth rights? A strongly worded letter to the editor; a promise not to do business in the future; maybe a stinging critical letter to the chairman of a media company announcing outrage over their hypocrisy; will any of these or similar efforts have any impact on people how operate “by any means..”? Will these exposes shedding light on them force them modify their conduct or will they in unison assail and diminish their attackers and continue their efforts unfazed?
How should one deal with people who are so imbued with their own sense of superiority and self importance that that they feel it is their right to tell others not only what they can hear but what they can think and believe?
I know how to respond if a thug breaks into my home to threaten my family or steal my possessions. How should one respond to thugs seeking to steal our more precious but less immediately tangible fundamental liberties?
“Only if we fight back”
I am reminded of the line in the ‘Untouchables’ by the character played by Sean Connery, “What are you prepared to do now?”

Great article, very informative. That is a very good way to fight Media Matters, knowledge. The more advertisers and people know about these bottom feeders, the less power and effect they will have. Support sponsors that advertise on the targeted broadcasters and let them know you support them. This maggot Carusone, will get his one day, and so will Media Matters. Fight back.

So what they go after Rush. He's a big boy. The KEY is to have MANY MORE voices in the Conservative movement, so there are LOTS of targets. The problem with Liberals is they only want a few "leaders," controllable ones at that. Conservatives could easily tip the scales by creating more warriors. A hint that Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck is a fan of somebody creates an instant star. Where are the Oprah Winfrey's on the Right? The Left can't destroy what they can't hit. Next, we can appeal to the "core" of people. Remind black people that Liberals treat them like punk-a** b*tches, and you will get their attention. How could a group of people who survived slavery by Democrats, lack of civil rights by Democrats, to ultimately get Obama elected be WEAK? How easily can black people be bought off in the Democrats' modern-day slave trade? Conservatives and Republicans need new messengers, warriors. We have had the same voices for decades to get an American we don't even recognize. TheBlackSphere DOT net!

Good read. Funny though how the attack on Rush has been an epic fail for Mr. Carusone. My guess is Rush has more listeners now and the loyalty of his listeners has only strengthened him in the eyes of advertisers. We don't advertise on his national show, but we do pay a premium to be heard during his broadcast locally because it is such a huge, educated, and affluent audience. Rates have not gone down either.
Now Rush is doing his own tweets and companies are aware of what is going on in regards to the lefts dirty tricks. Sleep Number has to be kicking itself for making such a huge marketing blunder and they obviously know it because they were so desperate to get back on the show. Adios Mr. Carusone, and thanks for showing once again how the left is unable to win on the merits of debate.
Bob| 3.27.12 @ 8:06PM
It was an epic fail. That's why Obama phoned his buddies in the New Black Panther Party via Al Sharpton and asked them to think of something. When the Trayvon Martin shooting happened, Sharpton and NBPP had the perfect incident to inflate into a national crisis and instill fear in the black community.

..OY..VEY IST MIR..!!
THIS MIGHT be the single craziest statement I have read--TODAY-- on this site... But I am sure it will be re-placed by an even more stupid--and stupifying one, pretty soon, here..
BTW.MR Lord.. are you even vaguelly aware that Dachau and other concentration camps in Germany were originally set up to imprison and torture the democratic Socialist and Communist opponents to the Nazis..?-- and that the "Socialist" part of that hoodlum organization was NOT ever meant...even remotely, in the weird crazy unhistorical way you spew it...?
Jeffrey Lord| 3.27.12 @ 7:52PM

You have never heard of the "KlanBake"...the 1924 Democratic Convention in New York's Madison Square Garden...run by the Klan? That produced the progressive platform of 1924? Oy indeed.
Your side is well on record...platforms, candidates etc...supporting slavery, segregation, lynching and the Klan. Indeed, the late Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia had his career enabled by being a Kleagle or some such in the Klan...
Truly...are you REALLY not aware that the slogan that the Nazi's used to showcase their economic philosophy was "Gemeinnutz geht vor Eigennutz"...ie: "The Commonwealth ranks above private profit."??????The Nazi philosophy...which by the way pre-dated Hitler, is, in the words of the Austrian economist Von Mises :"the purest and most consistent manifestation of the anticapitalistic socialistic spirit of our age."

The "Commonweath" the Nazis were refering to, btw.. had absolutely NOTHING whatever to do with the good of the PEOPLE.. it was a code word for an "Aryan" racialist State...and the Nazis NEVER had any intention of nationalising private property-- other then stealing those owned by Jewish concerns-- or , working with military contractors..
Your rant is COMICAL..IF NOT MORE THEN SLIGHTLY OBSCENE...no wonder Hush Bimbo raved about it, today......
RCV| 3.28.12 @ 9:37PM
"The 'Klanbake' at the 1924 Democratic National Convention"!! Mr. Lord, that was 88 years ago ... and the very last time the Klan wanted anything to do with the national Democratic party. In 1928, it nominated Al Smith, a Roman Catholic, whom the Klan hated almost as much as it hated African-Americans. After him, the national Democrats ran FDR and his "colored-loving" wife, Eleanor, and then a series of progressive pro-civil rights Democrats from Adlai Stevenson through Barack Obama. The Klan wanted nothing to do with the "communist" national Democrats.
Were there Republicans who worked with the northern Democrats to end legal segregation and give American blacks their full civil rights? You bet -- they were known as "liberal Republicans" (can you even imagine that term today?) Good decent people like Jacob Javits and Kenneth Keating and Tom Kuchel and Bill Scranton, Ed Brooke, Margaret Chase Smith, George Romney, Mark Hatfield, Clifford Case and Ev Dirksen. People who wouldn't even be welcome in your Republican party today. Conservative Republicans like Bill Buckley and James Burnham and Barry Goldwater, along with the National Review and Human Events and other "conservative" publications, fought tooth and nail against the Civil Rights Act and efforts to end legal segregation. Remember? That's why Trent Lott lamented the defeat of Strom Thurmond in the 1948 election.
You and other conservative Republicans have nothing in common with those Republicans, Jeffrey, other than the name "Republican". Any more than you have in common with another Republican, Abraham Lincoln, who saw the need for a strong central national government and who knew what people really meant when they championed "states' rights".
RCV| 3.27.12 @ 6:47PM
Rush is an entertainer, pure and simple. As long as he continues to entertain, he will have sponsors. If and when his act gets tired, they'll flee. Until then he's just fine. RCV| 3.28.12 @ 6:25PM
Jeff - I do laugh at the notion that the KKK has anything to do with political liberalism or progressivism. The prevailing ideology of Southern racism was racism, and it transcended any considerations of ideological views. That's why Strom Thurmond could transition so easily from being a southern Democrat to a Republican. Yes Woodrow Wilson was a progressive ideologically, but he was a racist because he was a southern racist, and bred as one. Hubert Humphrey was a progressive too, and led the fight for civil rights and helped end the unholy alliance between northern Democratic progressives and southern Democratic racists (some of whom were populists, and many of whom were just reacionaries as well as racists, which is why they fit so easily into the Republican party after the old Democratic colation collapsed.)

"Rush is an entertainer" is the classic line used by leftists to try and diminish the impact he's had on American culture and the American right. My friend, he is much more than "an entertainer". His "act" will never get tired because it's not an act, it's him exposing leftists day after day.
And the KKK were leftists. The same Democrat party that suppressed blacks for a hundred years after they were emancipated was the party that at least looked the other way when the KKK ran rampant, and at worse actively encouraged their activities. And today's Democrat party hasn't changed. Maybe their tactics have changed (although the recent announcement of the bounty on Zimmerman's head seems to indicate the tactics haven't changed), but they continue to intimidate blacks economically and by instilling fear of white people and exploiting that fear.
RCV| 3.28.12 @ 7:47PM
Here's a statement from a Klan website:
"Enemies from within are destroying the United States of America. An unholy coalition of anti-White, anti-Christian liberals, socialists, feminists,
homosexuals, and militant minorities have managed to seize control of our government and mass media . . . We shall liberate our nation from these savage criminals and restore law and order to America."
Let's ask ourselves: Who's ideology does this most resemble? Progressive Democrats? In fact, we hear much of the same ranting from the regular TAS posters every day on this site.

It's shabby to tear down Hannity ,Ingraham and other talkers on the right defend Limbaugh.
Hannity et al. would not have lied for three days like Limbaugh did about Fluke's words.
Hannity et al. would never have sunk to the depraved depths that Limbaugh did.
I cannot imagine Sean Hannity as the father of a young daughter, suddenly fantasizing about 6th grade girls and 13 yr old girls having sex,
like Limbaugh did .
I cannot imagine Sean Hannity asking to see videos of college girls having sex, like Limbaugh did.
I cannot imagine Sean Hannity going into great detail discussing lubricants and condoms, like Limbaugh did.
Or swollen female parts like Limbaugh did.
Or various sexual activities , like Limbaugh did.
For 3 days.
None of which were related to Fluke's remarks.
Limbaugh and only Limbaugh is responsible for his lying and X rated on air behavior.
Upon reading the transcripts of Limbaugh's three days , it's completely understandable that advertisers would bail.
Plus, once it was revealed that Limbaugh completely lied about Fluke,
he no longer had any credibility to vouch for a product.
If Limbaugh will so brazenly lie about Fluke's testimony , he'll brazenly lie about the comfort of a mattress.
It's insulting to the other hosts to tarnish them with the same brush in order to defend Limbaugh.
And pathetic to blame Media Matters for Limbaugh's behavior.

If you can't compete in the open arena of ideas, then you have to shut up the opposition. Leftists have tried and failed miserably at talk radio, and it chaps them and drives them bat-sh*t crazy that Rush is so successful. Jealousy. They can't field a show to compete so they try to silence him and others.
They might as well shout from the rooftops, "We have nothing to say and we can't compete, and we are tired of being embarrassed and exposed by the likes of Rush. We are empty suits that only have intimidation and threats to hold up our empty ideology. So shut up."
There are a LOT more people, both left and right who support free speech. Media Matters is going against the American Majority and they will lose.
They are driving people to Rush to hear what all the fuss is about. Amazing how it has backfired on them. Watching liberals foam at the mouth is fast becoming a spectator sport.

In addition, I have started or ended my use of products based upon their decisions to advertise or not with Rush. There is only one way to defeat a leftist Democrat party, which is in lockstep with a corrupt leftist media - Use the same tactics as they do. We somehow think we can out-debate them in the arena of ideas, and it doesn't work, because they lie. They also steal elections with voter fraud, and use taxpayer money to fund their agenda with "stimulus" money and campaign contributions (kickbacks) from unions. These people are evil and we can't beat them playing fair, just remember that. That's why we need to reject moderate Republicans and elect hard line tea partiers. Moderates don't have the courage to slash government drastically, and cut off the head of the beast. The time for moderation is over. If you want to save the Republic, desperate times call for desperate measures. This isn't just politics, it's war for the survival of our land.

I think that Limbaugh, Beck, Levin, Hannity, Coulter, Malkin, Schlafly, Boortz, Liddy have been moderately enthused amateurs up against polished, well-paid, well tutored, flaming radical leftists.
Each one has different strengths and weaknesses, and they have to engage in self-examination (with right-wing coaches including each other) to learn what those strengths and weaknesses are, so that they can learn to more consistently play from their strengths. Some are better with data and facts, while others -- though nowhere near as adept at it as the leftists -- do better with emotions and generalities.
Most of them still fail most of the time to get at the sharp edge of the disputes of the day, the clean clear precise lines. I'd have been happy with Levin guest-hosting all of the others' shows these last couple days. He's really been in his element while the others more or less fumbled around, and, well, some of them can't be all over it because of the timing.
Limbaugh needs to stay away from discussing evolution until he's gotten some serious remedial coaching on it, but he's been a decent proxy for everyman when it comes to economic statistics in recent months.

ROUNDS COOKING OFF
The Democrats have this "enemies list" --- denominated in epithets aimed at the people whose wallets they wish to hijack and take up residence inside. You can be a “Racist!” and you can be a “Terrorist!” and you can be a “Dictator” and you can be a “Hostage-taker!” and you can “Wear a tinfoil hat!” and you can be a “Homophobe!” and you can be a “Teabagger!” --- a homosexual man taking his partner’s scrotum into his mouth. You can be “Selfish!” and you can be a “Wacko!” and you can be a “Hick!” and you can be a “Rube!” and you can be “Uneducated” and you can be an “Extremist!” You can be a “Right-wing-nut!” and you can be “Mentally Ill” and you can be “Deranged!” and you can be a “Flake!” and you can be a “Warmonger!” and you can be "Unenlightened!" and you can be a “FatCat!” and you can be a “Greedy!” member of the productive class, and you can be a “Nazi!” and you can be a “Fascist!” --- although no one more closely approaches the precise description of “Nazi!” or “Fascist!” than the usual Democrat propagandist --- either official, or self-appointed.
Lies, after all, are the heart and soul and the sword and shield of the Democrat party.
So all you have to do to occupy multiple epithets on the Democrats’ enemies list is to insist that they take their hands off yourself, off your wallet, off your property, off your kids, off your diet, off your healthcare, off your household appliances, off your car, off your bank account, off your weapons of self-defense, off your liberty, and off your freedom of speech. Insist on all these good things - and that qualifies you to be spat upon by nasty, mean-spirited scum --- by The Friends of All Mankind --- by a gang of lying, thieving, dope-smoking, pill-popping, coke-snorting, sticky-fingered, bloodsxcking, tax-eating, gun-stealing, predatory humanitarian hoodlums, thugs and gangsters --- by the Democrat party, in other words. THE AGE OF OHBUMMER, KING OF THE REPUBLIC OF LIES
OhBummer is a b00b and a fool for attacking the American Tea Partiers. Heck, he thought that he had all of us hoodwinked, hornswoggled, and bamboozled. He’s annoyed that the Tea Partiers are not grateful to him for hijacking the American healthcare system --- the greatest act of vandalism perpetrated upon the American people since a gang of jihadi frootloops and loonytoons hijacked some planes and crashed them into the World Trade Center towers --- and the Pentagon, and made a failed attempt to crash into the White House --- and instead drilled a hole in a Pennsylvania farm thanks to some very courageous American passengers.
And --- now widely seen for what he is --- the president presents a problem for the Democrat-captured media. They pump out his propaganda for him --- and, like the opinion monitors in Ayn Rand’s novel, “Atlas Shrugged” --- they are dodging brickbats and rotten vegetables.
He’s pompous, pampered, and pretentious --- a pseudo-intellectual fop. He’s a glorified, smooth-lyin’ dandy, and slicker than Sick Willie Clinton. He’s a dictator-on-the-make, a bloodsxcking, predatory humanitarian thug, and a low-down skunk.
He’s a fraud and a swindler. He lies when he inhales and he lies when he exhales; his oxygen is the falsification of reality. He lies, placidly and laconically, as if deception were a soporific drug.
He’s a friend of the poor and the downtrodden --- indeed, you can hear the milk of human kindness sloshing around inside of him when he walks.
He declares himself the post-racial leader --- “Let me be clear!” he intones --- and he hides behind his race, daring his critics to put their reputation for fairness at risk.
He pauses to ponder the portent of his propaganda --- and it is fakery; he smiles and his mendacity comes shining through. Shake hands with Barak Hushpuppy OhBummer --- “The Mistake of ‘08” --- the illegal alien squatter in the White House until his “papers” have been lab-tested for age and chemicals, etc --- the community organizer of the OhBummer Wrecking Crew, the Fleabagger-in-Chief, the King of The Republic of Lies --- and America’s first and last Arab president. SAM ADAMS IS MORE THAN JUST A GREAT YANKEE BEER!
TAX HATER SAMUEL ADAMS, ON A ROLL AND ARMED TO THE TEETH, AUGUST, 1776……
"You darkeners of counsel, who would make the property, lives and religion of millions depend on the evasive interpretations of musty parchments; who would send us to antiquated charters of uncertain and contradictory meaning, to prove that the present generation are not bound to be victims to cruel and unforgiving despotism, tell us whether our pious and generous ancestors bequeathed to us the miserable privilege of having the rewards of our honesty, industry, the fruits of those fields which they purchased and bled for, wrested from us at the will of men over whom we have no check.
"Contemplate the mangled bodies of your countrymen, and then say, What should be the reward of such sacrifices? Bid us and our posterity bow the knee, and supplicate the friendship, and plough, and sow, and reap, to glut the avarice of the men who have let loose on us the dogs of war to riot in our blood and hunt us from the face of the earth? If you love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom – go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.
“Courage, then, my countrymen, our contest is not only whether we ourselves shall be free, but whether there shall be left to mankind an asylum on earth for civil and religious liberty. Dismissing, therefore, the justice of our cause, as incontestable, the only question is, What is best for us to pursue in our present circumstances?”
“It does not take a majority to prevail….but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.”
