Do the Muslims in Egypt (a country that imprisons people for sodomy), who listened with rapt and admiring attention as Barack Obama confidently discoursed on the meaning of their "tolerant" religion, know that immediately before he left D.C. for Cairo he had issued a proclamation declaring June "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month"?
Had Osama Bin Laden wanted to discredit Obama in the eyes of global Muslims, he should have junked his own insane gibberish and simply read from Obama's LGBT proclamation: "My Administration has partnered with the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community to advance a wide range of initiatives. At the international level, I have joined efforts at the United Nations to decriminalize homosexuality around the world."
So much for the sodomy laws of Islamic countries.
Naturally, Obama didn't say a word in his Cairo speech about this delicate matter. These are valued "allies," after all. He even pandered a bit to Islam's dim view of rotten Western mores, lamenting the Internet's child-corrupting "offensive sexuality."
Would that be the same offensive sexuality designed to corrupt kids on display in your omnivorously perverse proclamation? His proclamation speaks of LGBT "youth" and the "harassment" they face, as if America is teeming with 16-year-olds who have gotten sex-change operations in brave defiance of their peers, as if it is the president's duty to encourage teens in bisexual explorations.
At any rate, the media purred over the "credibility" that Obama enjoys in the Muslim world. If so, it is a credibility based on either cluelessness or cynicism: perhaps Muslims don't know about Obama's turbo-secularism, or, if they do, they just don't care, figuring that they at least share a common enemy --Christianity.
Obama announced once again, gratuitously and absurdly, that America is not "at war" with Islam. When was Bush at war with Islam? As I recall, Bush spent much of his time after 9/11 making unconvincing cooing noises about the "moderation" of Muslims and assigned Karen Hughes to push this PC propaganda in the Middle East.
Okay, Obama is not at war with Islam, but he is very much in a culture war with Christianity, denying rights to pro-life doctors and nurses at home even as he promises greater respect to Muslims abroad.
His Cairo speech contained a familiar assortment of jaw-dropping whoppers and jumbled half-truths. The White House proudly announced that this syncretistic stream of deceptions will be translated into a dozen languages.
Does Mark Penn feel vindicated this morning? Remember Hillary's sly formulation, no doubt picked up from Penn, that "as far as she knew" Obama wasn't a Muslim, not long after she dispatched Bill and Chelsea to ham it up as Christians with Joel Osteen in Texas? Obama, working hard to impress his audience yesterday, conformed perfectly to Penn's image of him, saying that he hails from "generations of Muslims," and that he "spent several years" immersed in Indonesian Muslim culture where "he heard the call of the azaan at the break of dawn and at the fall of dusk."
The more non-Western a religion is, the more Obama cottons to it. Ever the critic of the West, Obama declared casually that Islam made possible "Europe's renaissance and enlightenment."
America, he argued, has learned a lot from it too: "Islam has always been part of America's story. The first nation to recognize my country was Morocco." He didn't bother to mention that Muslim pirates were also some of the first ones to wage war against America, thus making the Treaty of Tripoli necessary.
Obama added that "when the first Muslim American was recently elected to Congress, he took the oath to defend our Constitution using the same holy Quran that one of our founding fathers, Thomas Jefferson, kept in his personal library." Too bad he didn't mention that Jefferson had purchased it in order to understand the tactics of the Muslim pirates.
Obama's glib solipsism is bottomless. Whether telling Catholics at Notre Dame what Christianity means or Muslims in Cairo what Islam means, he simply substitutes his narcissistic liberalism for the subject at hand; all religious roads lead back not to God but to him.

So this guy attacks anyone who brings up his Muslim faith back in the campaign.
Sets up stopthesmears.com website to combat any "rumors" about him being muslim. Said his father was an agnostic, his Kenyan grandmother was a christian.
Attacked anyone who used his middle name (Bill Cunningham).
NOW; he remembers hearing the call to prayer in Indonesia as a little boy, took the oaf of office as "Hussein", his father is now (was) Muslim, his grandmother is/was going to Mecca.
Sounds like Hope and Muslim to me.

So what exactly does "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month" mean anyway? We hear stuff like that so often it just rolls past us without a glancing thought. But stop and think about that for a minute. What are we all supposed to do during Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month? What are lesbians, gays, bisexuals and the transgendered supposed to do during the month of June? Really.
It quite simple isn't it? The answer is: promote the lifestyles of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and the transgendered. The majority of American's agree (and rightlyfully so) that what concenting adults do with one another is their own business. But this is not about privacyis it? In gact the opposite is true. This is about taking someone's personal lifestyle into the public square and promoting it. This is an invitation for schools to take someone's lifestyle and promote in the class room.
This is about the cultural hegemony of the Left.

President Obama will learn the usefullness of trying to talk to fanatics. Worth a try but not going to be useful. He got his gold chain and that will add to his wealth, but he accomplished not a whit for America by his pandering.
He might better have taken a page from President Reagan's book and said "trust but verify." President Obama might have concluded by saying; America desires to live side by side with Muslims in peace and harmony. But that is up to Muslims. For if you leave us in peace so will we leave you. But should America be attacked again the response will be breathtaking in its horror and strength. There will be no Muslims world. The sands of the middle east will be heated into glass and the name of Allah, like his followers, will disappear from this earth."

Jay - "President Obama will learn the usefullness of trying to talk to fanatics. "
No doubt. Obama puts far to much faith in the power of words...especially his own. It is a fantasy land. But I am not sure violence has been so effective either. Radical Islamists are prepared - enthusiastic, in fact - to die.
The only hope for Islam is reform from within.

It is the democrats, socialists, communists, and liberals worldwide which are the real culprits for making the world a miserable place to live. Repressive liberals which resort to lies and sell us empty hope over and over again are the real reason we have been snowed again. Change? How about more of the same and their resumption of the full court press to end freedom. Arrogant leftist elitists will make this planet unlivable if they have it their way.

American Citizens Chide Obama is the title of furious Americans who resent Obama's power grab and disregard for the Constitution of the USA.
"The American people wade into the heart of the Constitution and demand that Obama" be stopped by a Congress elected to do so if necessary- Obama is wiping his feet all over our freedoms and rights: 13 czars who have power over American life, but who only report to the Obamameister - Press Release for Barry - you aren't a king even though your TOTUS disagrees. The USA is a democratic-republic government, not a Soros Fascist one, and you have no Constitutional right to stomp on federalism, no right to force governors' to accept TARP and use it ONLY the way you "deem," regardless of judges "empathy" rulings. Private property is the essence of freedom and you have no right to seize and control it. Taxation without representation was the basis for the first revolution and is becoming the basis for the second - The American people do NOT want your social engineering Fascist policies that will doom us and our posterity to poverty to pay for your "royal Dreams of Progressive Dictatorship" through government control of our lives - what cars we will drive, how much energy we will use, what energy we will use, what kind of light bulbs we will purchase, how much health care we will have, how much Union power you will enforce, how much wages and compensations will be, how monstrously big you will make the government to pay back supporters with cushy taxpayer paid jobs, how much redistribution of wealth you will extort from tax payers, nationalization of the banking system, the denial of private capital because of your robbery of it for your grandiose voter Union payoffs and Statism support - and Now you have mandated a Special Master for Compensation! - The list of narcissistic self power you crave is endless. Obama is a walking/talking hypocrite, lecturing others on their faults while wearing his own styrofoam crown and trouncing freedoms in the USA while the Congress watches - Arabs might be happy with Obamablahma, Chavez may be his loving comrade, but Americans are fighting mad about Obama and his thug administration and a First Lady who is too crass elitist NOT to wear $400 shoes to a "feed the poor camera on me photo-op rally for Michelle" and who urges women NOT to earn money in the private sector while she wallows in it. What is absolutely infuriating is that Obama will represent the USA at Normandy when he has done nothing for the USA except take from her and lectured her and shaken his self-righteous finger in American faces while we watch his snobbish nose in the air delivery of his sentimental nonsense "Me, Myself, and I speeches." The Normandy visit will turn into an Obama the One image, making it a self-centered Follywood focus on himself - and our military who died there, who sacrificed everything so that we could be free will be nothing more than a backdrop to TOTUS' amoral emptiness. OBAMA IS WAY "ABOVE HIS PAY GRADE as president - I have to apologize to the world for Mr. Arrogance "moral highground infanticide" "the Constitution is just a list of negative rights - a constraint" Obama - He is an absolute embarrassment to the USA. The United States of America is the finest country in the world, the most generous, the most giving - the military of the USA are most brave, the most courageous, the most disciplined military in the world and through its dedication, the USA has done more to advance the freedom of people around the world than any other nation - we have worked with other Western nations so that Muslims can be free - The only right approach for Obama would be to stay in Egypt - maybe there his pretense to be pharaoh might be fodder for Arab cartoons since Egypt has a freer less fawning, slobbering, lemming press than the media under Obama. The American people have written a novel of their own Obama - "Dreams of Our Free Country Under Our Constitution and Our Bil of Rights and the American Revolution that Secured It." The Constitution of the United States establishes government of the people, for the people, and by the people - and we will not let it perish from the earth for an Obama government..

Hello everyone,
I've never posted here before, mostly because I was not about to get verbal feces flung at me by the jerk who's been so thoroughly nasty these past several months. I wrote an email to the powers that be at TAS, and they have assured me that if this guy or anyone else in the future is totally starting a flame war, then I can write to them ASAP and they will see to it that its dealt with. It looks as if they have been true to their word --notice the lack of puerile rantings, they've been deleted!-- and so I congratulate them on this. Now it looks as if we can actually start commenting on the articles again.
My suggestion is that if this jerk starts up again with the offensive ad hominem verbal assaults that have nothing to do commenting on an article, we all immediately write the powers that be here at TAS.

TASOnline can't really "Ban" anyone...
...Let me clarify.
It would certainly be within their rights to ban obnoxious post-ers...But the website, as currently designed, does not allow this function.
For example, ANYONE can log-on as "David Mathews", so we have no idea who is actually making these posts, and to what e-mail/IP address it's linked.
Additionally (and I did this as an experiment), the system does not even VALIDATE e-mail addresses as genuine. Again, for example, I entered a fictitious e-mail address (for me, at least) and used it with more than one username...And each time, it accepted the post.
So the system is ripe for abuse.
I'd personally be against banning people like "David Mathews", as he is an illustrative example of the limitations of left-liberal thinking. Additionally, as someone who has been repeatedly banned from "DailyKos.com" (Heh-Heh-Heh!!!_ mere;y for stating a contrarian opinion (In fact, one Kos-Kid even told me point-blank: "We're not about free speech!"), I would NOT want TASOnline to be identified with this type of behavior. As Conservatives, we KNOW we're right (no pun intended), so we're not afraid of opposing opinions.
In summation...If TASOnline wants to switch to a formal registration procedure to allow post-ing, I'm all for it. This would enable the monitoring and potential banning of offensive posts and post-ers. But as the website is currently designed, that won't happen.

Overall, Mr. Neumayr's article is, as the Brits say, 100% "spot-on." The pandering towards the muslim world, the recitation of the lie that Islam is a "peaceful religion" (even Pres. Bush tried to get us to believe that), the subtle put downs, even though he be its President, of the United States, and the abandonment of Israel would by this time simple be tiring if it wasn't so appalling and dangerous. I fear what this country is becoming under Obama's regime, and I often wonder if there any place left in the word I could go where I can simply live my life in peace and liberty.
I do have one problem with Mr. Neumayr's generally excellent article. While he rightly brings up the contradiction of Pres. Obama declaring June GLBT month (sorry, I can't abide using the LGBT acronym) while addressing countries and a religion which openly persecutes homosexuals, again Mr. Neumayr regrettably coats his article with his usual disdain for gays. I am a gay man. However, I am not a liberal democrat gay man. Putting a political label on me is difficult: mostly libertarian, somewhat conservative, and a reluctant Republican--maybe best to call me a non-liberal democrat. I read the American Spectator, National Review, and the Weekly Standard, along with a series of blogs and the Reason magazine on-line website. I believe in freedom, liberty, limited government, secure borders, strong national defense as much if not more than the writers of the aforementioned journals of opinion. And there are a lot of gays like me. But to read these conservative journals of opinion, one finds an almost daily dose of gay-bashing, promoting (perhaps inadvertently) the idea that all gays (particularly gays who are themselves, and refuse to be heterosexuals when they are not) are and msut be liberals democrats, and conversly, all conservative and Republicans are and must be heterosexuals. I wish Mr. Neumayr no ill-will, and I generally like his articles, and agree with them most of the time, yet he gives out the distince impression that he believe gays are just awful people trying to impose "the gay agenda" (whatever that is) on unsuspecting straights. Yes, the extreme gay left is loud and politically powerful, and certainly wrong about 99% of the time) but they certainly don't speak for me and for many in our "community." I often wonder if The American Spectator, National Review, etc., would ever allow a right-leaning gay to join their team of writers and editors, that is, as someone who writes and submits articles and is allowed to discourse on their blogs. I'm sorry to say I doubt it. As a non-liberal democrat, albeit a gay one, I would like to feel I'm part of Mr. Neumayr's team; unfortunately, I'm fairly certain he doesn't want any part of me or gays who for the most part think like him and believe the things he does, only because we are, well gay. I won't accuse Mr. Neumayr of hating gays, but it's quite clear he finds us all very distateful, regardless of our individual political and religious beliefs.

hey there Bill,
I think certain people around the world have ALREADY seen Obama for what he is: someone more determined to smooch up to those who hate our guts than to protect the citizens of America. It is irrelevant whether he is doing it because he is blindly naive or blind with hatred against this country or simply thinks he's so clever that he really CAN fool all the people all the time. The fact is, what he is doing is emboldening the enemies of this country, and dis-spiriting our friends and allies
I believe that it most important that we begin to re-awaken, and to awaken others to the incredible dangers posed by this administration of traitors and tax cheats. In my own family and circle of friends I know many many people who took Obama at his word and are now going around with a "WTF??!!!??!" look on their faces. When I see this much buyers remorse this early into an administration, I know that our prospects two years hence are good, but we need to start building for that moment right now

Rick, that was an eloquent and thoughtful post and I have every sympathy with your point of view. You, and others who think much like you, have been victimized by a subset who decided to hijack a form of sexual attraction that people deal with in different ways and make it a political issue about which there is only one right way of thinking.
I am pretty sure that NR, WS et al have and have had gay writers; I hired a gay man for a professional position from a pool of highly qualified applicants because I thought he was likely the best fit. His sexuality didn't come into it. However, had he challenged me on, say, gay marriage, for instance, he might not have liked my answer and that would have created tension as unnecessary as it would have been disruptive.
I don't have any easy answers for anyone but one thing that would help a lot is if our whole society would shut up about sex and other personal matters and reclaim the notion of private and public sheres and the conduct appropriate to each.
Son Of Sam| 6.5.09 @ 1:43PM
hey there Rick,
You said you were looking for a gay writer at TAS? His name was David Brock, and you can look it up. The fact remains that most conservatives --including me-- believe the following:
A) our faith --irrespective of "brand name"-- tells us that homosexuality is a sin
B) its hardly the only sin, and there's not a damned one of us who isn't an active sinner in some category or another
C) therefore, we don't go around looking to beat up gays, anymore than we would want goon squads out hunting US down for whatever sin we're actively involved in. Ya know, "casting the first stone" and all that
D) we sincerely believe that not only is marriage one man and one woman, we also believe that THE PEOPLE should be the ultimate arbiter of how our society and its institutions should be organized.
E) therefore, lets hold a vote on what marriage is in the remaining twenty states that havent held one yet. Lets see how that vote stcaks up, shall we? Can anyone say "power to the people"?
F) while we're talking about law, "hate crimes" laws are irrelevant at best and harmful if applied zealously. If a gang of hoodlums beats the crap out of you and me both, I don't want my beating to be seen as somehow not so "hateful" simply because I have sex with women. I also don't want your tormentors to go unpunished because you don't. Twenty years breaking up rocks with sledgehammers for every damned one of them!
G) as for the "gay left" not speaking for you, well actually, they do. Or rather, they've spoken over you. When Christian friends of mine are called "haters" and their church services are invaded by "ACT UP" wanna-bes; when the companies we work for engage in indoctrination to tell us not only how we need to act but also what we must feel and think; when ALL our children are mocked for NOT participating in the "day of silence" -- by TEACHERS as well as other students-- then we cannot help but notice the tremendous silence seen from someone such as yourself.
I think that tolerance is not supposed to be a one way street

Because the Middle East is the place where British citizens are jailed for having sex on the beach in Saudi Arabia and where men & women are stone to death for having an affair or a Muslim killed for dating a Christian! Yep, the president has once again given us more flakey fish food, sprinkled into the bowl for the press to joyfully gobble up.

Oldefarte,
I asked Jeffrey Lord what to do about the media. Without the media complicit in this charade, BHO would be in Chicago ----perhaps alongside Blago or Rezko.
Mr. Lords reply was that they (the media) were taking care of themselves and sometimes we want things to happen faster, but it is going our way. Their audience is eroding and the jig is up.
I still believe we should accelerate their demise and at every opportunity point out their bias on-air!
The new task-force by the republicans, unless efficiently run say by MRC, will not be effective. It may just look like a bunch of whiners.
The way to get to the networks at least is locally.
Start with the local NBC affiliate and start a local boycott. The networks listen to their GM's at the affiliate level. Get a couple of dozen people, heck a couple of hundred---to call and protest NBC's coverage and they will take note.
My brother's schoolteacher wife with the NEA just said Obama lost her. Not the guy she voted for she said. Really? Welcome to the party pal!
AT EVERY TURN---BOYCOTT, CANCEL, BOYCOTT, CANCEL YOUR MAGAZINE AND PAPER!!
CANCEL YOUR PARENTS PAPER, YOUR NEIGHBORS, YOURs----TURN OFF THE TV. ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A METER---
If you know someone with a meter, it should never go to the liberal media channels.

Fascist Marxist Dictatorship | 6.5.09 @ 3:45PM
The Black Guy is not your problem, look into your political past, and find your direction.
Keep drinking the water and taking the Dope, one day you will wake up in FEMA Concentration Camp.
Preparations for Elimination of The U.S. Constitution and the Imposition of a Fascist Marxist Dictatorship In the United States of America
The following pages provide explicit evidence showing the concerted effort and pre-planning by elements in the U.S. government for the implementation of a Fascist Marxist Dictatorship in the United States of America.
Control of the U.S. Currency
The Federal Reserve Bank Act of 1913 handed the U.S. dollar into the hands of a few unscrupulous men. "Let me issue and control a nation's money, and I care not who writes its laws" Meyer Amchel Rothschild.
Initiation of Wars & Depressions
World War 1 would never have occurred without the establishment of the Federal Reserve Bank, the owners of that bank were the primary beneficiaries of the war both funding the war and manufacturing the armaments for the war on both sides. They did the same thing for World War 2, the Korean War, Vietnam War, Gulf War etc.
The current Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank at least admits the bank was responsible for causing the Great Depression. The Federal Reserve Bank has been responsible for initiating and driving most depressions since.
Control of Airwaves, Notes, Tax & the implementation of Socialism
The Banksters man they brought in after initiating the Great Depression, Franklyn Delaware Roosevelt, instituted the FCC to control airwaves and media, the SEC to control any competing Notes to their bank, the IRS to tax the people so as to pay the bankers interest on the money they make out of nothing and Social Security for placing the State at the head of family.
The Institution of a Police State:
The massive buildup of police and jails and a judiciary that throws people in jail for non-crimes. By 2004 the U.S. already had more people in jail, prison and on probation than all other nations in the world combined.
The Patriot Act
Employing the planned fear uncertainty and doubt caused by their 9/11 "New Pearl Harbor", the administration passed the "non-law" of the Patriot Act which according to these criminals allows them to arrest and detain anyone they want without that person having any right to defend themselves - "Guilty without any right to prove innocence".
The Elimination of The Posse Comitatus Act
Since 1878 the government has been prohibited from using our own Military against our own people. In 2006 the administration passed 'non-laws' to eliminate the Posse Comitatus Act.
The Creation of Concentration Camps in the U.S. & Abroad
Army Regulation 210–35 Civilian Inmate Labor Program: Confirming the government and the Army's plans for U.S. based Concentration Camps;
Military Commissions Act
The enactment of concentration camps in the U.S. and the ability of the President to throw whoever he wants in the camps without question.
The Next 9/11 False Flag
Still to occur: An extreme 'terrorist attack' again initiated secretly by the government is planned to shock the U.S. public into accepting an attempt to steal nuclear weapons by the White House was thwarted by by brave soldiers. The scramble to develops biological weapons by the Bush administration indicates they may be seeking a biological holocaust as for the staging of their next false flag.
"Why of course the people don't want war ... But after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship ... Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger." — Hermann Goering, Nazi leader, at the Nuremberg Trials after World War II
“The individual is handicapped by coming face to face with a conspiracy so monstrous he cannot believe it exists.” – President J. Edgar Hoover
"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the State." Dr. Joseph M. Goebbels, Propaganda Minister of Nazi Germany.
The underlying glue tying this communist fascist New World Order together are the owners of the Federal Reserve Bank who funded and implemented the Communist Bolshevik revolution. By placing the State as head of family and making everyone hand everything they own to the State, these banksters own the world. In the U.S. they have used the treasonous and fraudulent Federal Reserve Bank Act to literally make money out of nothing. When you borrow money to buy a home the Rothschild's, Rockefellers', Warburgs, Lazards and other owners of the Federal Reserve Bank make the money you borrow out of nothing and they take a majority ownership of your home.

Mattled: Excellent advice---I agree. I just wrote an email to MSNBC [the Maddow Show] concerning her vulgar interview of Ana Marie Cox [whoever she is] concerning their back-and-forth injection of the word TEABAGGING [as a slang for the tea party-protests]. I would suggest that most of the bloggers here [conservative] could do likewise and send emails to all of the TV networks and CONTACT US/LETTER-TO-EDITORS at any/all major newspapers online over their liberal and biased reporting. Also, I'd suggest that any conservatives w/children prevent same from attending the typical Hollywood movies now playing, as most contain subliminal messages of liberalism throughout. The main point are upcoming ELECTIONS; and it's super important for everyone to vote, to make sure that their families, church members and friends all vote for conservative leaning candidates ONLY. Voting is the only way I see to reverse what is now happening in DC, and anyone failing to do so should not whine, complain, etc thereafter--------it's then too late as it is now [until the next election]!!!!!!!!!!

This article was pretty funny... if it wasn't so sad. Every now and then, an author on this site actually writes decent well... just not this time. Apparently the author is very upset that you can't have anal sex in Muslim countries... and mad that Obama didn't talk about Muslim pirates. It's drivel like this that seems to be written with emotion and only a little rational thought that keeps people divided.
And so many of the attacks in the comments leveled squarely at "liberals" are completely inane. How many reports came out during bush's time lying to the country proving the same points about those who voted for him? (i.e. they didn't know anything about anything)
As soon as everyone wakes up and starts to realize that the problems you see with "the other side" are almost always "American" problems with little to do with Conservatism or Liberalism, maybe we can make some progress in this country and the world.
This was just useless.
In a dramatic scene| 6.5.09 @ 4:56PM
In a dramatic scene, more than 100 Israeli Arabs stood silently alongside Israeli Jews as the Kaddish - the Jewish prayer for the dead - was recited last week during an unprecedented visit to the Auschwitz death camp in Poland.
"It's such a powerful experience to be here that I cannot speak," Nujeidat Shafi, a 46-year-old Arab from Israel's Galilee region, told the Associated Press.
From 1940-45, more than 1 million people, mostly Jews, were killed in gas chambers or died of disease, starvation and torture at Auschwitz. Four members of the delegation laid a wreath at the Death Wall, where thousands of prisoners were shot to death.
Seated by the ruins of the main Auschwitz crematorium, the group of 120 Arabs and 130 Jews from Israel listened to the testimony of survivor Shlomo Venezia, 79, now living in Rome, Italy, whose mother, sister, uncles and aunts perished at the Nazis' largest death camp.
Aimed at deepening Arab understanding for Jewish suffering during the Holocaust, the visit was the idea of Rev. Emil Shoufani, 47, an Arab-born Catholic priest from Nazareth, in northern Israel. The group brought together intellectuals, professionals and businessmen, most in their 40s - including leading Arabs such as Ahmed Masalha, a well known lawyer from Nazareth and Abdel Aziz Darawshe, head of the emergency ward at Afula hospital.
"We came here in order to know what happened exactly in order to express our sympathy and solidarity with the Jewish people," Awwad Nawaf, 57, a teacher who lives in Nazareth, told AP. "We hope this will help us and the Jews to live as good neighbors, and to understand each other. We hope it can help stop the bloodshed and the cruelty."
Several Israeli Roman Catholics, plus about 200 young Jews and Arabs from France, accompanied the group on the visit to the camp.
At the end of the ceremony at the camp, the group tearfully joined in singing the Hebrew Song of Peace.
"For me to sing the Song of Peace with Arab friends here in Auschwitz is the most important sign of hope that we can live together," said Yoram Halevy, 53, a researcher from Yavne. "We cried in front of suffering and agony."
Organizer Shoufani hoped the trip could help lessen the deep-rooted bitterness between Arabs and Jews, which has worsened after more than 30 months of Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Shoufani's initiative to study the Holocaust followed the October 2000 events, when 13 Arab demonstrators were killed by Israeli police during rioting in identification with the Palestinian uprising.
In July 2002 Shoufani published a book in France in which he noted that one "should learn the pain of the other side to stop the death circles."
Seven months later, Shoufani's group called a press conference in Jerusalem announcing its plan to visit the death camps in order to better understand the Jews' pain.
A group of some 150 Jewish public figures was organized to endorse the project, including Dan Patir of the Abraham Fund, Eliezer Ya'ari of the New Israel Fund and Yeshayahu Tadmor of Jezreel Valley College. A similar group was organized in France.
Prior to the trip, the Arab participants held study meetings in Yad Vashem in Jerusalem and in the Ghetto Fighters' Museum in the north as well as two weekends of lectures and talks with their Jewish colleagues.
Last week, Shoufani stood on the podium at the Temple synagogue in Krakow, an hour's drive from Auschwitz, and pledged: "We are here to be with the Jewish people and its suffering, and tell them, we are with you."
It was the largest organized visit yet by Arabs to the camp, which annually sees about 500,000 visitors, according to the Auschwitz museum spokesman Jaroslaw Mensfelt.
The previous day, the group toured the historic Jewish district of the southern Polish city of Krakow.
"We are here to be with the Jewish people, in all its history and all its suffering," said Shoufani. "From the suffering of our people today, we unite with your suffering," he said.
The 1.2 million Israeli Arabs make up more than one-sixth of Israel's population. While they acknowledged that it is important for them to understand the roots of Jews' suffering, some of those who visited Auschwitz also stressed that Israel must now work to improve living conditions for the Palestinians.
Khatib Uthmans, 35, a teacher from Qalansuwa, said he wants to write a book for Arabs on the Holocaust based on the trip.
"Not enough Arab people know about the Holocaust," he said. "Talking and writing about our joint visit, we can prove to politicians that people on both sides can get together and talk and live in peace," Uthmans added. "We want to tell (Palestinian leader Yasser) Arafat and (Israeli Prime Minister Ariel) Sharon that we can live together without a problem."

It is fact. While we have kept an eye on the Mid-East evening news broadcasts our very exisitence has been sealed by presidential decrees (former and current) and congressional backing. Support for the Jews will be a crime, a redneck with a Smith and Wesson bumper sticker will be a crimminal, to believe in the Constitution will be treasonous, etc., if they aren't already. Anything beyond being an automaton that claps with glee at every wit and wisdom uttered by our beloved Leader, and his minions, will begat a 4 am visit by the black shirts. Does anyone really think the Arab world took Obama's gibberish seriously? World leaders know they have four years to acquire what ever they can from this dying nation.

In response to Maggie, first, thanks for the kind words. As to gay marriage (I didn't disclose my opinion about it--personally, I accept the pro-arguments, but do not like courts deciding matter, but rather the people. Actually, I think the State should get out of the marriage business altogether (a libertarian argument), but that's a discussion for another day). Does a gay libertarian/conservative writer have to be anti-gay marriage to write in a journal of opinion like NR, TAS, or TWS? Do all conservatives agree on every point? Of course not (look at the issue of immigration). My beef, assuming it's a valid beef, and I actually hope it's not, is that there seems to be among conservatives the belief that to be conservative you have to be a heterosexual, and that's simply not true. I'm a shining example that that's not true. While I'm more libertarian than conservative, I'm anything but a liberal democrat (and I was raised a democrat, albeit in a "Scoop Jackson democrat" type of home).
As to Son of Sam's comments, I'm not quite sure what you're getting at. Again, I said nothing about gay marriage (you assumed I was for it--in theory I guess I am, but again I see it as a states' rights issue, and I was appalled at the gay left's response to the passing of Prop 8 in California), and I said nothing about hate crimes legislation (I'm against such legislation). Actually, I was married (to a women) for over 20 years, and have a daughter and a granddaughter. I was involved in my church for many, many years (I still consider myself Eastern Orthodox, though I don't attend anymore because I don't feel at home there because of the anti-gay positions that are held by the Church). All I was getting at was Mr. Neumayr's (and I deeply respect Mr. Neumayr's and again, generally agree with most of his writings) and other conservatives' constant and harsh anti-gay rhetoric. Even though most gays did indeed vote for Obama, a lot of us didn't. A lot of us gays don't want the U.S. turned into some kind of leftist "utopia." Even most of my gay friends, although horribly liberal and democrats (most of them fathers like me), want simply to be left alone (remember Grover Norquists "Leave Me Alone" coalition) to live their own lives, not as gay men, but men who just happen to be gay. I put my love for this Nation up against any heterosexual conservative/Republican any day of the eyar (and while I'm not thrilled with the Republicans, I've voted Republican 99% of the time since 1980, when I first vote Ronald Reagan). I guess all I'm asking of Mr. Neumayr and other conservative writers and pundits like him is to stop assuming all gays are looney lefty liberal democrats who want to cram their particular views and "lifestyles" down everyone else's throats. There's a lot like that me that don't, and we're tired of being demonized by certain conservatives as being part of that leftist gay ilk.
Rick| 6.5.09 @ 5:25PM
Oh, and by the way, yes, I know of David Brock. And I will concede that TAS knew he was gay (at least as some point, but unsure as to when that point was), and was more than welcome to have him write for them. Actually, though, didn't Brock turn into a lefty? As I remember it, though Brock turned against the right, wasn't it the left who outed him? Again, I'm gay, but I think I've made my point that I'm not particularly crazy, but rather actually disgusted with leftist gay politics, leftist being the operative word.

I am willing to believe that most of you didn't watch the full speech & are willing to be told what to think about the speech by others; please thing for yourselves.
The Presidents speech was one of the weirdest speeches I have ever seen, because of the way the media responded to what was said. It seems like most people want to focus on the Arab Israeli conflict as if we are not fighting terrorist that are hiding out in many of the Muslim countries.
It is as if all the professionals missed the fact that America is still looking for the Muslims to help us moderate their country so we can exist peacefully among each other.
Around the 16 minute part of this YouTube video was the point & no one cared because everyone is focusing on Israel's issues not America's.
Osama Ben Laden & his crew have killed a lot of innocent Muslims. He is violating most, if not all of thee teachings of the Koran & it seems like noone cared as if we were not fighting to save our own lives.

Rick,
I applaud your eloquence and candor. I have a friend from college who is both gay and conservative, so I know you guys are out there. I think the point that Son of Sam was trying to make is that you may be out there, but no one sees you. We never see any gay men like you taking up these positions publicly or in the media, so people make assumptions based on what we see. And for the most part, all we ever see is the radical gay left. Personally, I think it would be fantastic if someone like you would stand up and get in the news and speak out for democracy and states' rights and so forth. I wholeheartedly agree with you that your sexual preference should be a private matter. I think that's why so many conservatives get irritated by stuff like LGBT Pride Month. In my opinion, if you're gay, then be gay, but don't run around shouting it from the rooftops. I don't need to know about it. I can be your friend either way. From what you wrote, we seem to be in agreement on this.

Satan's Children
Sunday Oct. 12th 2003
Satans Children already knows they are condemed, they have brought and sold fellow men, killed their fellow men stolen from their fellow men they have used monopoly money to rob the world. They hate Arabs because they say Gods law comes first no Adultry. not fornication no theft or have your hand chopped off. No alcohol, no violence, no prostution. So Satans Children can't make any money. So they call Abrahams Children are Terrorist. Arabs have lived in peace for centuries till, Satans Children, sons and daughters of SATAN moved to the Middle East in 1947.
I spent have years knee deep in research concerning the subject of the Serpent Seed and find that both sides, pro and con, are not very well educated on the subject which leads to much knit picking on both sides. This doctrine has become a red hot potato that the churches won't touch with a ten foot pole. It is not a politically correct doctrine and it will create a massive shortfall of revenue if ever preached. But I do admit that there are some pretty wild and weird serpent seed theories that stray from the foundation of solid scripture. A lot of cults may choose one group of people and say that they are the fallen seedline. Jews and Blacks are often targeted for this racism. The fact is that the serpent seed is seen in ALL races of men and women, of ALL countries, and from ALL walks of life. It's a cancer of society that began with the fall of man.
For me it is simple. The goats are the seed of Satan, and the Sheep are God's elect. The churches say that there is no such thing as hybrids even though Gen. 6 clearly states that there were hybrid Nephilim giants in the world. Quickly around the 5th century the religious power elite began to cover this truth of scripture with what is known as the Sethite Theory. Like the doctrines of the Jehovah's Witnesses, it crumbles under any close scrutiny along with the doctrine of celibacy and a number of other false doctrines taken from the air and not scriptures.
Many churches spiritualize the meaning of Gen 3:15 where it says, "I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel." They teach that the seed of the woman would be the physical seed from the bloodline of David to the incarnation of God in the flesh of Jesus Christ. Now when it comes to the seed of the serpent that churches say, "No, no, no. The seed of the serpent is only spiritual, only the seed of the woman is physical in Jesus Christ." Really? Where do they get this from the scripture I just quoted? Where???
What we see in the scripture is that this war between the two seedlines (offspring) would be on going long after the death of Adam and Eve. The churches also say there is no physical serpent seed, never was and never will be since and is spiritual and not physical. Excuse me? The Nephilim were hybrids and guess who their fathers were? Satan's fallen angels! Talk about a real physical seed!
Now if if the angels were capable of fathering hybrid children, is it not logical that Satan could father his own children. The fact is that the Serpent has his own seedline of offspring that will soon produce the Beast known as the antichrist. His title the Beast clearly indicates that he will be a human hybrid child of Satan himself. The Beast (animal) will come from the seedline of the Merovingian Illuminati bloodline. This human beast will be of the purest Serpent Seed bloodline going back for centuries. This seed bloodline has produced some of the most vial and intensely evil men the the world has ever known or seen. Human life means nothing to these non-human world leaders! So is it true that there are human hybrids among us from the seed of the Serpent? Let's take a look at Ezra 9:
10 Camandments| 6.5.09 @ 8:57PM
The Ten Commandments
You shall have no other Gods but me.
You shall not make for yourself any idol, nor bow down to it or worship it.
You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.
You shall remember and keep the Sabbath day holy.
Respect your father and mother.
You must not kill.
You must not commit adultery.
You must not steal.
You must not give false evidence against your neighbour.
You must not be envious of your neighbour's goods. You shall not be envious of his house nor his wife, nor anything that belongs to your neighbour.
Arabs trust in the Comandments but, Gentiles do not trust Gods comandments, and make up their own laws, Jews use Americans to kill their brothers the Arabs because it is a SIN to kill ones brother. Cain Killed Able and was cursed, the Americans are Cursed.

He is doing his best to destroy america, tearing up the constitution, nationalizing companies, appointing czars with no congressional oversight. His new internet czar will take care of right wing webites like TAS ,with talk radio soon to follow. He`s getting Billion$ in Acorn slush funds to accelerate the pace of voter fraud and turning the next census counting over to the same groups, with the black panthers doing security at the polls.

Pardon me for digressing
I buried my father, who was disabled in the Battle of the Bulge in January. His passing was timely in the fact that he was spared not having to watch the ceremonies occurring in Normandy as I pen this. The French who he passionately hated for their "allegiance of convenience" during the liberation of Europe are among those being honored, their leader solemnly pacing one step behind POTUS. Absent, but no doubt watching, is the Queen of England who is the only leader of that era still living. She should be the one giving the speech and I will bet she could do more than mouth platitudes. Allowing this affront to happen has resulted in the real horror that for the first time in my life I actually am ashamed of our leadership.

For those who liked his speech and believe that he is attempting to "heal wounds." You like the POTUS do not understand the enemy. The enemy will perceive all these overtures as weakness. Much of the world feared Reagan and Bush and believe it or not, that kept us safer than flowery speeches and olive branches. To listen to his speeches, one would almost believe the Germans should continue to carry guilt for mistakes of the past, the United States is a demonizing force in the world and all the while the muslims should be understood and reasoned with for their atrocities of the present day.

Jesus was not a religion (he did not like what it had become : ie: He threw them out of the temple, the pharisees that is.)
So what good is religion when all I can see it become, is an excuse for yet another war.
Americas conflict is with itself. We have a bible and are trying so desparately to follow its mandate of being 'good'. The problem is how do we then express the 'bad' we feel. Well you can interpret the bible to suit your needs and justify yourself that way, you can take up the bullet, or you can say to yourself.
WHY DO WE HATE EACH OTHERS CULTURE, HOPE, LOVE, NAME, POSITIONS, etc., so much
Get a life people. War is for those who can't communicate how they feel and resort to the bomb, in a ditch attempt to 'express themselves' in their fury of being 'speechless'
So freedom of speech then is a major problem.

In addition, there are nonstops daily to Honolulu from countries with lackadaisacal security, like New Zealand.
I just wish B.O.'s policies didn't stink so badly.

We don't want war, moron--you're describing Islam to a T. Muslim countries hate us because we are successful and they aren't. They're dying--just look at the disgusting way they treat their women.

I find myself in prayer a lot these days:
"Father, Can any American be as foolish as O bama fail to understand the threats we Americans face all around the world from people who hate us and envy our liberties to our death?
Father, Why is this man doing all the things he is doing?
Surely his actions cannot be from simple silliness, or shalowness, or even hubris and arrogance...can they?
...So why is he so busy gutting our internal economic and emotional strengths, while at the very same time, he bares our throats to our avowed enemies?
Oh my, Father! Have you placed this man in power to chasten our nation, or to even destroy it so we faithful have to rebuild it from scratch, and from the rubble?
...I am reminded of the conversation you had with Abraham concerning Sodom and Gomorrah. You said if a hundred righteous men could be found there you would not destroy the cities. Surely, Father, there are many good people remaining in this nation...so will you let this man destroy it?
Surely not!
Please guide us, to make your chastening such that America can still be your shining city on the hill, and a beacon of hope for all the world, but finally, Father, Your Will Be Done."

Old Texican, we left Him, He didn't leave us. So sad to say.
I pray all of the time, too. I know we're in trouble.

As I remember it, though Brock turned against the right, wasn't it the left who outed him? Again, I'm gay, but I think I've made my point that I'm not particularly crazy, but rather actually disgusted with leftist gay politics, leftist being the operative word.

History is too sensitive to be treated arbitrarily when one is addressing a schism that dates back 1400 years and is at the heart of the modern day clash of ideologies. To my taste Obama should have done some more homework. He has left of lot of ammunition in the hands of those who thrive on logic of moral equivalence and demand political causes of what makes an individual a suicide bomber.
The American President may not know it, but his 'Muslim world' is split by a war of ideas, says Amir Taheri. According to him, Barack Obama has extended his hand to Islam's despots. Obama generalizations were 'music' to create mass euphoria and may help build bridges with the Islamic disgruntled street, but scratch the surface a little and one finds that he could have addressed the real cause of the decline of Islamic nations in the past mainly due to victory of dogma over logic and rationalism, and overreliance on predestination and will of Allah.
Obama on Algebra: It was innovation in Muslim communities that developed the order of algebra; our magnetic compass and tools of navigation; our mastery of pens and printing; our understanding of how disease spreads and how it can be healed.
The challenges that Islam faces today are exactly the same as it faced in the times when Algebra and Astrolabe was being developed in the Islamic communities. It was the integration of the world and interaction of ideas and open cross fertilization that led to discoveries that Obama referred to in his speech. The real demand should have been to change a syllabus that is medieval, and not condoning the 'culture' that actively supports moral equivalence of everything under the sun. His audience across the globe hardly believes that some one else did the dirty job on 911. They should change their syllabus if you want to change their minds. And this applies from 'Madrassas' of Pakistan to ****** seats of knowledge at Qum and Najaf. Any mind that wants to set free from the chains of decadence has to free itself from demands of religious thought.
Obama's overgeneralizations are a dangerous precedent: Algebras and magnetic compass plus paper came from cross fertilization of Islamic societies with the sub-continent and China. An American president has to be careful with reference to history. Giving credits of accomplishments without highlighting the cause will further add to moans and groans of a society that fails to understand the reason of its continual decline in the field of intellect for last 1000 years.
Decline of the Islamic golden age was due to supremacy and ascendancy of dogma over rationalism – for example, the lack of separation between faith and reason – that is why the Muslim Arab world fell into scientific slumber just as the Christian world woke up. Internecine wars, infighting and murder of rationalism were the main causes for the decline of Islam. It is often disputed why Muslims being 19.6% of the world's population, i.e. 2 billion, only have three Nobel laureates in Science and literature, whereas Jews being only 0.2% of the world's population, i.e. 14.1 million, have received 122 Nobel prizes in science, economics, medicine and literature. This is the exact challenge the Islamic world faces today, this was the point that needed to be made.
One Ummah that 'Obama' refers too only exists in minds of Hizb ul Thareer or the ultimate faithful; otherwise there are 1000 divides within the Islamic world. The mother of them all is ******-Sunni divide that extends onto date in shape of two camps the Iranian and Saudi, ( a 700 million 300 million divide on global Islamic populations basis) next the Sunni internal divide between Wahabbi hardliners and Wahabbi soft liners, this sits above the divide between Hanifites and Malikis that extends between sub-continent Muslims, the terror prone Asir region is cast solidly in first divide whereas Taliban are the product of desert Islam with connections to hardest of the ideological schools under Salifis.
Now to portray Darfur and Bosnia in one line is great argument yet a poor one. In Darfur Arab descended Sudan Al-Bashir is behind ruthless murder of his own black indigenous Muslims, in Bosnia it was strife between Serbs and Muslims, both Slavs but ideology divided them. The revenge of Ottoman rule was taken from the rich farmers and land owners who historically benefited from the Ottoman rule.
These colours that are important to learn, yet for Obama to try to sew a rainbow all under one tabernacle is far bigger and much more complex a challenge. The political demands at the seams of Islamic majorities are clear, in Palestine the Hamas wants no Israel, in Saudi Osama wants no Sauds, in Hijaz they want no Sauds, in Iran they want the promised one to conquer regions for which they have been promised by Allah and restore the Ahl-e- Bait that is house of Banu Hashim to its equitable place. The nuke option for Iran is no way acceptable to Saudis as well as Osama. Khomeini Islam is far away call from Islam that Abdul Wahab practiced. Iraq has its own sectarian problems alongside Kurdish issue.
Pakistan suffers with its own identity, five nations made into 'one' under name of Islam, but others 53 exist because Islam alone is not the healer. One speech that covers it all and depicts Muslims as victims of great conspiracies camouflaged the fact that Muslims as the rulers of this region of sub-continent and Mesopotamia are having difficult time adjusting as minority. Palestine issue, the Kashmir issue, Taliban rule of Afghanistan, Somalian warlords and combined dictatorships of Assad's, Kaddafi's and Mubarak's all add up to a problems that speech never addressed. Yes a great work out to shove it all under a carpet.
Islam today needs integration with the world, Islam needs to realise that days where 'Moguls and Ottomans' could rule the world in the name of Allah are gone. Islamic majorities are simmering with ravaging conflicts trapped between wars to impose dogmatic 'back-to-basics Allah-ordained constitution' or western-based secularism, the hearts of the fruitful are with Allah, but their economies are tied with the world. This dichotomy makes them quite unsure as the road they need to take.
Obama has nailed the thesis on Alazhar door; it is now up to the Muslim world to take it up. Aryan says and I concur that 'I am surprised by his exuberance in dealing with international relations, he is boldly defining new frontiers of global diplomacy, one day he is admonishing Israelis for their expansionist policies and the next day he is with survivor Elie Wiesel visiting the sites of the holocaust. He keeps the Muslims happy and keeps the Jews happy too, a nice diversity of an Obama technique of creating new global rainbow coalition. By admitting intervention in Iran in early 50's and denouncing US excesses once again, one thing is certain: the noisy public opinion, that of hatred of America, is softening on the Arab street. Yet, it is hard to claim what tangible gains we shall attain on dismantling Global Terror Inc?
Will Obama's obvious gentleness be repaid by the likes of Iranian clergy on nuclear issues is one big challenge, if overtures are retuned and Iran joins the global community as a full active member, I would think that Obama did the job. If Iran goes on NK's nuke path and detonates a nuke device in next four years, I would presume that will stamp a failure on his soft global approach. The jury is out.

Can anybody explain to me how Obama's crediting Islam with the invention of Compass and Navigation tools, Printing and Pen, "elegant calligraphy and places for peaceful contemplation" went unchallenged? Any middle schooler knows that all those things were invented, if you can apply this word to "elegant aligraphy and places for peaceful contemplation - LOL!" by the Ancient Chinese a couple of thousand years before Muhammad?!

Obama is the most intelligent President in the HISTORY of America.
He is accepted by 75% of the American population. And hated by the WARMONGERS who think crime and violence is the solution to all things in life, as long as these 25% cowards don't have to risk theirs.
