Department of Homeland Security Advisory

George Washington and other persons of interest — Congressman McCotter’s Top 10 American extremists.

In its rush to slur conservatives prior to the Tax Day Tea Party rallies, the Obama administration’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued an “intelligence” assessment entitled Rightwing Extremism [RE]: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.

Here, despite DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano’s announcement to a German reporter that she would refrain from using the word “terrorism” and, instead, use the Orwellian (and sexist) term “man-caused disasters” to “demonstrate that we want to move away from the politics of fear toward a policy of being prepared for all risks that can occur,” the RE memo nevertheless tried to divine who was or could be “domestic right-wing terrorists.”

Despite the fact that the DHS has “no specific information that domestic rightwing terrorists are currently planning acts of violence,” the RE memo specifically smears returning veterans and a host of other sovereign citizens who may hold conservative views; and generally smears conservatism by equating it with “Right-wing extremism” thusly:

Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.

Applying this general and the specific “assessments” of who may constitute a “Right-wing Extremist” and terrorist threat to our nation, to truly and fully protect the American people from domestic terrorism, the DHS must immediately release its list of Top Ten Most Wanted Potential Right-Wing Extremist/Terrorist List:

1. George Washington, a.k.a. “The Father of Our Country” (Person of Interest): Avowed revolutionary; decommissioned veteran; commander of militia and other armed forces; Second Amendment zealot and gun owner; alleged murderer and war criminal in the British and French Imperial War of Empire (North American Theater); racist.

2. Thomas Jefferson, a.k.a. “Red” (Person of Interest): Avowed revolutionary; anti-federal government indoctrinator, propagandist, pamphleteer and agitator; state and local rights extremist; Second Amendment zealot and gun owner; racist.

3. Elizabeth A. Seton, a.k.a. “Mother Seton,” a.k.a. “St. Elizabeth Ann Bayley Seton” (Person of Interest): Religious zealot; anti-reproductive rights extremist; indoctrinator; alleged martyr complex; leadership role in a foreign controlled cult.

4. Andrew Jackson, a.k.a. “Old Hickory” (Person of Interest): Decommissioned veteran; leader of militia; second amendment zealot; serial duelist; suspected murderer and alleged bigamist; racist.

5. Joseph, a.k.a., “Chief Joseph,” a.k.a. “Thunder Coming Up Over the Land From the Water,” a.k.a. “In-mut-too-yah-lat-lat” (Person of Interest): Commander of insurrectionary militia; gun owner; anti-federal government extremist; private property and local rights zealot; inhabitant of a heavily armed compound; suspected persecution complex.

6. Theodore Roosevelt, a.k.a. “Teddy,” a.k.a. “Teddy Bear” (Person of Interest): Decommissioned veteran; alleged fascist; former inhabitant of a heavily armed right-wing compound in the Dakotas; suspected racist.

7. Sir Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill, KG, OM, CH, TD, FRS, PC, PC (Canada) a.k.a., “Winnie,” a.k.a. “The P.M.” (Person of Interest): Presumed Divided Loyalties claims honorary U.S. and to being 50% American and 100% British; decommissioned veteran (British Army); creator and director of right-wing militia (Ireland); gun owner; right-wing propagandist, pamphleteer and agitator; racist; suspected alcoholic.

8. Fulton John Sheen, a.k.a. “Bishop Sheen” (Person of Interest): Religious zealot; anti-reproductive rights zealot; radical indoctrinator, propagandist and agitator; mid-level leadership figure in a foreign controlled cult.

9. Ronald Wilson Reagan, a.k.a. “Dutch”, a.k.a. “The Gipper” (Person of Interest): Decommissioned veteran; former commander in chief of militia units and other armed forces; religious and Second Amendment zealot; gun owner; anti-government, “states rights,” and anti-reproductive rights extremist; alleged murderer; suspected international war criminal; suspected racist; rumored architect and leader of the “Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy” (VRWC).

10. George W. Bush, a.k.a. “W” (Person of Interest): See 9, above.

So, Congressman, what are you and your fellow Repubs going to do about it? Roll over and just let the messiah have his way?

WRTolkas| 4.21.09 @ 7:32AM

On this list and the Book of Life I want my name.

jack| 4.21.09 @ 8:21AM

the gutless and soul less republicans continue to let the country slip down the slope. they were afraid of being called racists so they let barney and dems loot fannie and freddie. they were afraid of being called racists so they never tried to educate the public on the real cause of the financial disaster, Dems,Fannie, and the federal gov pushing loans on people who could never pay them back. can you blame them? who wants to lose a gig like they have? yes,the same republicans who renigged on their promise to institute term limits in the 90s. the same republicans who controlled congress and white house for four years early in the decade ended up being just as fiscally responsible and corrupt as the Dems had been in the prior fifty years.
then after their big government policies had pushed the dems into a state of complete insanity, because how would they ever outdo the spending of W? Well you nominate a radical like Obama and who do the Republicans offer up as a candidate to stop the greatest threat to the republic in history? John McCain, a guy who changes positions daily, and campaigns like gerry ford or bob dole.
remember Reagan took the republican party by storm,he was not the choice of the party powers, its just too bad reagan listened to those powers and put Bush on the ticket, a big government guy who had spend his entire life at the federal tat.
we are screwed and revolution is the only solution

Ryan| 4.21.09 @ 8:21AM

One could probably add just about every name that signed the Declaration of Independance. Their "progressive" ideals aren't much different than conservatism today.

Bram| 4.21.09 @ 8:25AM

Thank you Representative McCotter. Thomas Jefferson was full of dangerous ideas. Follow this link and his words are self-incriminating.

Yeah. thanks Rep McCotter for spending our money and having the courage to put the article on Am spectator. You should be on the roof tops screaming and here you are posting on to a freindly audience.
You are part of the most corrupt government in the world . Everyday brings news of more Dem corruption and not a single republican is on TV making hay. NOT ONE! Leads me to believe either republicans are also involved in the corruption or they just dont care.
Today we have news Feinstein is involved in a multi billion dollar scheme. Not a single member of the opposition is on TV.
I only wish the Republicans would treat politics like the Dems do and the Dems would treat terrorists the way they treat Republicans.
I find no humor in your article. The country is coming apart at the seams or havent you noticed?
We are where we are because Republicans chose not to rule but instead to pillage the system and pander to wingnuts the four years they controlled the entire government. Y0u are no different than the incompetent morons who ran Detroit into the ground.
The spending must stop!!!!!!!

Big J| 4.21.09 @ 8:43AM

Add my name to the list: John Morgan Hornsby A.K.A Big J. Pro life, member - NRA, listens to talk radio, went to Tea Party, against bloated government and proud of it!

jim rice| 4.21.09 @ 9:16AM

Admittedly, that memo was pretty stupid. These lists, however, are getting tiresome. Plus... do you really get to be a "veteran" if you ran away from the war and called in some favors to join the Texas Air National Guard? Yes, gw bush should be arrested and made to squeal like a pig... but not for the reasons outlined above.

All-in-all tho... I agree with jack: "we are screwed and revolution is the only solution"

but that's how I've felt since I was old enough to read.

Crusader| 4.21.09 @ 9:39AM

GWB is anti-big gubmint?????

Louis Jenkins| 4.21.09 @ 9:51AM

Apparently I am a person capable of being a “man made disaster” propagator. I never realized I was such a bad person until the Dept. of Homeland Security outlined me as such. And I bet a good many of you folks are in the same situation.

I believe that Congress should control its spending just like me and my family are required to do during difficult financial times. I believe in less taxation. Money in my pocket is money that is spent to boost our sick economy. I support the Constitution as it was written by our forefathers, not as a document to be changed and modeled after EU documents. I believe that the 2nd Amendment guarantees my right to own a gun for my self defense, and does not only apply to a state militia. I am anti-abortion, as it is plain murder of the unborn, and I am against illegal immigration. US Citizenship is a dear possession and should not be handed out like dirt to anyone who illegally crosses our borders. I support the rights of any legal US citizen to run for political office, even on a third party ticket. I believe in free speech as guaranteed by the Constitution. It is my right to grow a vegetable garden without Federal interference, as I am the one who eats the fruits of that labor. It is my right to worship my God as I believe, and that there should not be an official government approved church. And I am anti-United Nations. The US is a sovereign nation and has the God given right to national self-determination. It should never be subjugated to the will of any nation or nations.

So there you have it. When I was a younger man those terms above would have described a patriot, or at least a good US citizen. Now it means right wing “terrorist.” What have I and this nation come to?

Gill O'Teen| 4.21.09 @ 10:17AM

Add Pope Benedict to this list. After all he is the leader of a large pro-life organization.

Ironically, yesterday I picked up my concealed carry permit. In order to get this I.D., I had to pay the local sheriff $111 so he could prove that I was a law abiding citizen. Yet by the very act of proving I'm no threat to the gum'mint, he proved that I am a militant threat to national security. This same sheriff is a founding member of the berry obumah truth squad.

Sir: The word "Soviet" in the name of the defunct USSR means "community organization". It was Lenin who established the principle of those community organizations which were designed to protest, agitate, demonstrate, and fight the capitalist system by whatever means were most effective. Those soviets ranged from a block committee in a city and a circle of workers in a company or soldiers in the army, and in stages all the way up to the Central Committee of the Communist Party. It is of onterest to observe that Obama's only working experience was as a community organizer, them as a lawyer for community organizations, and finally as law instructor for future lawyers fror community organizations. The largest of these is ACORN - Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. ACORN has been engaged so far in two principal activities: 1) registering non-existent voters, dead people, multiple registrations of same individuals in several voting districts, and bussing of out-of-state voters; and 2) through their subsidiary ACORN Housing Corporation and the associated mortgage brokering sunsidiary (with cooperation of Bank of America, Citibank, and others which were forced to cooperate by threats of fines and prison issued by Barnet Frank and Chris Dodd) in providing mortgages to "underserved minorities" on the basis of "unconventional incomes" such as welfare, food stamps, unemployment checks, and theoretical absent fathers' payments for their children. ACORN has proudly placed some 800,000 such mortgages which were then bundled up by the banks with normal ones into "derivative securities" and dumped into the cooperating hands of Fannie May, now bankrupt and nationalized. This sabotage of the free market is the principal cause of the still developing financial crisis. The Obama campaign had given over $800,000 to ACORN during the last presidential run for the task of falsifying votes in tight races. The stimulus bill contains $9 billion (yes, that is $9,000,000,000) for ACORN activities; also, ACORN has been assigned primary responsibility in the coming 2010 census. With the organization of a special section of the Department of Homeland security charged with monitoring of and spying on "right-wing extremists", we have now the necessary elements of a domestic KGB and in ACORN the recruting grounds of future domestic Gulag guards.
well, here I go - it's a sure thing I will be put on that Napolitano list of potential domestic terrorists, never mind my age (76).

Thomas Paine also deserves to be on the list. He's basically the Revolutionary version of Hannity, Limbaugh, etc. And good for him!

"Some writers have so confounded society with government, as to leave little or no distinction between them; whereas they are not only different, but have different origins. Society is produced by our wants, and government by our wickedness; the former promotes our happiness positively by uniting our affections, the latter negatively by restraining our vices. The one encourages intercourse, the other creates distinctions. The first is a patron, the last a punisher."...Thomas Paine

this will not end till the Republicans purge the party of moderates and big spenders. The best candidate last year was Romney, especially given the financial disaster caused by the Dems. But what are our choices? A community organizer,a guy who has no idea what a profit is, a guy who could not get a real job out of harvard, and an old goat who really didnt know anything but anything. Why was Romney not chosen? because of his religion and now we have a president who spent 20 years in a church that resembles the nazi party and hate mogering racist rev who obama calls the greatest influence in his life. the world has gone mad. there is no way the country survives this lunatic socialist imbecile. thanks republicans

Dai Alanye | 4.21.09 @ 11:27AM

I wish that people—on our side, at least—would get over the idea that joining the National Guard is a cowardly method of avoiding war. This is naive and ignorant, as well as falling for the propaganda of the Dems. Dubya did nothing for which he ought to be ashamed, and flying hot jet fighters is hardly a task for the cowardly. I suggest "jim rice" and those of his persuasion think a bit more deeply before passing on another slander.

Worth noting are some of the war-hero politicians among the Dems.
John Murtha: Has changed his war stories on many occasions, and refuses to release his military records.
Tom Harkin: Claimed to be Vietnam combat veteran but actually ferried planes between Japan and the Philippines. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)
Max Cleland: Actually has a worthy record but became a paraplegic in a non-combat situation because he attempted to pick up a hand grenade he thought he'd dropped.
Al Gore: Two or three intense weeks as a reporter in a combat zone, while protected by his own personal bodyguard.
John Kerry: Joined the Navy Reserves to avoid the draft, requesting non-active duty. Squealed like a stuck pig when Swift Boats had their mission changed to brown-water service. Had four months of combat duty before acquiring three minor wounds (two of them self-inflicted) for which he demanded Purple Hearts. Starred in home movie during which he put his boat in a hazardous position so he could execute a wounded Vietnamese teenager in hiding. Received an honorable discharge and combat awards only after becoming a Senator. Refuses to release his military records.

It is a privilege to be counted among such great conservatives, veterans, Christians and gun owners (that includes President George W. Bush). Like millions of Americans (unlike the Obama Democrats) our loyalty is to the Constitution and not a psuedo-man or foreign ideology that seeks to subvert that glorious document of reason and human freedom.

As to the complaint that Republicans allowed BO and Democrats to loot Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that is nonsense. Democrats did loot them and other major lending institutions, but in 2001 and on at least 2 other occassions President Bush called for reform of the institutions.

Unfortunately, without larger majorities in Congress Republicans were unable to overcome Democrat roadblocks (we now know why they were so bent on stopping oversight).

To beat Democrats we need more elected Republicans not unproductive and gratuitous attacks against them that only benefit Democrats.

Of course, if you want to further empower the domestic enemies of our Constitution keep up the attacks on Republicans, but realize you're as much a contributor to our nation's problems as BO and company.

Gill O'Teen| 4.21.09 @ 1:19PM

Much ballyhoo and blather is being said today about obumah’s request that his cabinet yahoos, which can’t even file an accurate tax return, reduce their budgets by an aggregate $100,000,000. Now I certainly think that is a substantial amount of money. But I lack obumah’s grand vision and have a comparatively small mind. However, it seems to me that if instead he simply cut acorn’s share of the loot by $900,000,000, they would still have a generous $8,100,000,000 with which to organize communities, and the lemming-in-chief could bray that he saved taxpayers 9 times more than he sought. Even I have to concede that 900 of anything is greater than 100 of the very same thing, unless of course that anything is nothing.

Biliwick| 4.21.09 @ 2:04PM

Don't forget Thomas Paine and Samuel Adams, well-known purveyors of anti-government hate speech.

Anthony| 4.21.09 @ 2:56PM

DHS Secretary, Janet Napolitano, great-grand daughter to Il Duce, who sports a size 8 jackboot, is herself a "man -caused disaster". In fact, so is most of the Obama cabinet.
Mr. McCotter, it is your duty as a Congressman to demand the removal of this disgrace. Obama is playing hard ball and this is just one of the set ups when things get dicy and civil liberties need to be curtailed" for the sake of the country."
By the way Congressman, what is your reaction to Obama's demand that his Civilian Corps be funded on a par with the military? Paranoid right wing extremists just want to know.

MF| 4.21.09 @ 3:40PM

Mr. Congressman, please let them know over at DHS that there are a significant amount of anti-govt agitators in the anti-war movt and green movt that are missing from this list. Why are RW agitators a potential threat but LW agitators not? Blowing up Humvees, vandalism. Why is this not a threat to our safety? I can't think of a single Minuteman episode where a US citizen had their property destroyed yet DHS finds it no problem to destroy vehicles on the lots of citizen owned dealers. Remind them to remember there are two sides of the aisle and of every issue.

Fable 7 (from Fables for the obuma Age
Nappy Soils Herself:
Once upon a time, Barry actually understood that even though he possessed the one ring, running his business was not as easy as he had pretended when embarrassing Johnny for the CEO position of Georgie’s old company. Many of his employees were actually unhappy with his methods. So he hired a gorgon named Nappy to manage all the security issues for his enterprise because his CFO, Timmy, thought highly of her. Not really understanding her job, Nappy confused persons who were actually trying to break into the building with those who were simply displeased with how Barry was running things. She felt that people wielding words and carrying signs were far more dangerous than enemies wielding swords, carrying bombs and actually killing people. So she wrote a report relaying her concerns to Barry, who used that report as justification for apologizing to every other CEO in the world for everything that had gone wrong over the past 6,000 years, that is since The Creation. It seems that all the wickedness ever found on this planet was caused by a malevolent creature named The Evil Bush who first appeared to mankind in the guise of the subtle serpent which had tempted Adam and Eve so many years ago. Said so in Nappy’s report. Well the very next afternoon, Nappy was taking her daily stroll along the Washington Mall. For the first time, she noticed a curious monument which was a wall with lots of names engraved into its stone. She asked one of the visitors whose names these were and who he was. He replied that these were the names of his comrades who had fallen in ancient battle. Nappy got tingly feelings all up and down her leg when she heard the old man use the word “comrades”, but then the man mentioned that he was a soldier who had proudly served his country during that war, and his name was Johnny. Nappy was so frightened by coming face-to-face with such a vile creature that her bowels loosened and she soiled herself right in front of everybody visiting The Wall. They laughed.

The GOP's are (mostly) craven cowards. The DIM's are out of control fascist power seekers. The President is an empty suit being controlled by Soros and company. The lot of them need to be recalled and impeached.

We have now arrived in an upside down world. It is where our Leaders bow, hug, and shake hands with hommies that were former mad men, terrorists, tyrants, killers, and American haters. Its where patriots are now terrorists, where veterans are now extremists, where free speech and dissent are now examples of extremist potential terrorists. It where its our fault as Americans for all the worlds problems and we should all say were sorry to our new buddies like Castro, Chavez, Mexico, France, ETC. What will stop this insanity?

OK, fun article, but you left out two very important and highly inflammatory philosophers. Natural rights advocate John Locke provided the moral grounds for the overthrow of state power, and rabble-rouser Samuel Adams stirred the stew with eloquent rhetoric and a bloody shovel.

Locke and Adanms drive OhBummer and Biden berserk, as those modern pragmatist boys actually believe that The Rights of Man originate with government ---- not that they are inherently the nature of Man ---- and therefore impossible to "grant or repeal."

The only "Man Caused Disasters" readily identifiable are the election of Obama and his resulting cabinet and policies. That being said, I wonder if people like Bill Ayers, Bernadette Dorn, ELF, ALF, and others have been removed from the list, or at least pushed so far down the list they are rendered insignificant and unworthy or any resources and attention?

Ah, Tory commenter Lord Percy State-Fellator (aka "Tom Panie") , refreshed after a sound sleep and pleasant dreams of being spanked by Michelle Obama wearing a leather Ilse She-Wolf of the IRS outfit, has chosen to grace us with his presence once more.

Yes, T.P., I think we remember the Oklahoma City bombings. I remember the Clintonistas using it to squelch the pro-freedom movement and making veiled threats of unleashing Jackboots Janet on us. So if anyong opposes the New Fascism, they could be silenced with, "Oh, you're just like that Timothy McVeigh guy?" So are you reminding us, Percy, to warn us that Obama and his own Jackboots Janet have similar nefarious intentions? Isn't that a tad paranoid? After all, we know president and cabinet in history is as devoted to liberty as Obama and his gang.

Only reminding you to explain why the government has a reasonable interest in keeping tabs on extremist righties who threaten to attack the government.

Right wing ideology has supported a number of violent menaces over the decades. The government has the duty to prevent that violence from returning.

The whole Militia movement was what informed the terrorists who bombed the federal building in Oklahoma City. It was the worst terrorist attack before 9.11. Presumably you are interested in protecting the country against terrorism ...?

Hey, TP, here's an idea: Maybe the militia movement (which seems to be defensive in nature, McVeigh reportedly having been kicked out of the one actual militia he joined for being too much of a kook) would go away if the State didn't keep getting bigger and more threatening to their liberty. There probably wouldn't have been a Minuteman movement in the American Colonies if your hero King George III had said, "Hey, you know, I've been reading John Locke and the Cato Letters and this Jefferson guy, and I realize what a jackass I've been. Mercantilism out--free enterprise in--liberty for everyone!" Just a thought.

Flu Break Out Designed To Distract You!
Paul Revere wrote:

Don’t get distracted by the swine flu outbreak as, if you dare look away concentrating on health issues only - the elitists are instantly in the process of looting you! Lets face it, if they should win we won’t have anything to lose anyway as life won’t be worth dog droppings under their hammer and sickle policies, we are nothing but cattle in the minds of these elites anyway - we may as well give iit all from all of our hearts together and we’ll atleast have that dignity! Who wants to be a slave under facists? Here’s some intriguing questions that are on my mind from the flu outbreak!

Looks like an inside job to me! Just like 911! Since the Doctors, have stated they found the following genetics: Swine, Avian, Human in the virus! So how would these people explain strains of the Avian flu coming out of Mexico when it has always derived out of Asia?? I bet it was genetically engineered in a lab? They’ll probably come up with a last minute vaccination make lots of money$$ on vaccine and kill a whole bunch more people to boot with defective serum?

Eugenicists love these kind of results to lessen the world population as the elite are bored and feel there is not enough room for them to play!

As an Army Infantry veteran, I must be a terror to the Communists in Washington. As a Virginian, I'll stand alongside Washington, Mason, and Jefferson any day as a Danger to tyranny. Remember, the Founding Fathers were Revolutionaries and their descendants still live.
