Deep Throat and Genocide

Mark Felt and his handlers destroyed a peace-maker and left Southeast Asia in totalitarian hands.

Re: The “news” that former FBI agent Mark Felt broke the law, broke his code of ethics, broke his oath and was the main source for Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward’s articles that helped depose Richard Nixon, a few thoughts.

Can anyone even remember now what Nixon did that was so terrible? He ended the war in Vietnam, brought home the POW’s, ended the war in the Mideast, opened relations with China, started the first nuclear weapons reduction treaty, saved Eretz Israel’s life, started the Environmental Protection Administration. Does anyone remember what he did that was bad?

Oh, now I remember. He lied. He was a politician who lied. How remarkable. He lied to protect his subordinates who were covering up a ridiculous burglary that no one to this date has any clue about its purpose. He lied so he could stay in office and keep his agenda of peace going. That was his crime. He was a peacemaker and he wanted to make a world where there was a generation of peace. And he succeeded.

That is his legacy. He was a peacemaker. He was a lying, conniving, covering up peacemaker. He was not a lying, conniving drug addict like JFK, a lying, conniving war starter like LBJ, a lying, conniving seducer like Clinton — a lying, conniving peacemaker. That is Nixon’s kharma.

When his enemies brought him down, and they had been laying for him since he proved that Alger Hiss was a traitor, since Alger Hiss was their fair-haired boy, this is what they bought for themselves in the Kharma Supermarket that is life:

1.) The defeat of the South Vietnamese government with decades of death and hardship for the people of Vietnam.

2.) The assumption of power in Cambodia by the bloodiest government of all time, the Khmer Rouge, who killed a third of their own people, often by making children beat their own parents to death. No one doubts RN would never have let this happen.

So, this is the great boast of the enemies of Richard Nixon, including Mark Felt: they made the conditions necessary for the Cambodian genocide. If there is such a thing as kharma, if there is such a thing as justice in this life of the next, Mark Felt has bought himself the worst future of any man on this earth. And Bob Woodward is right behind him, with Ben Bradlee bringing up the rear. Out of their smug arrogance and contempt, they hatched the worst nightmare imaginable: genocide. I hope they are happy now — because their future looks pretty bleak to me.

You need meds Ben.
I admired Nixon for China, and the Environmental Agency. He did a lot that was good.
Yet Ben, I understand you live in an area of nebulous concepts, shaped by forces unknown to us lesser mortals, but from our lowly view point;
Lying is lying. You dismiss the Watergate incident and the subsequent cover up attempt as a nothing, at all our perils.

The rules apply to all.
Deal with it.

The closest thing to a rebuttal was that lying is lying, yet you do not address anyone else who has also lied or done horrendous things in the White House.

Ben Stein is living proof that having a relatively high IQ doesn't mean one can't be stupid at the same time. What a pompous boor and bore.

blanco| 12.19.08 @ 8:51PM

Appologist is the term perfectly coined for this kind of mind. Mr Stein's facts are highly selective and biased, his assessment of his facts, not to mention all the other facts he does not even acknowledge, distorts the picture and interpretation on the Nixon years profoundly. Nixon was a crook and not a successful American president no matter how much he may have benefited Mr. Stein.

At least Stein will rightfully never be freed from "Love of God and compassion and empathy leads you to a very glorious place, and science leads you to killing people."

Richard Nixon| 5.12.09 @ 10:03PM

You all are quick to criticize Ben Stein for this article yet you do not rebut anything he says. The closest thing to a rebuttal was that lying is lying, yet you do not address anyone else who has also lied or done horrendous things in the White House curiously were not crucified for their actions. Crucify Nixon as much as you want Ness, Gwyllm, etc, but Nixon was caught for something far less punishable than other presidents who have been caught for wrongdoing whether it be FDR or Kennedy. Deal with that...

Sincerely Up

Yours

Vice pres. Nixon was the man that forced New York labor unions into accepting minorities into apprenticeship programs for the first time in history. .
The mainly democratic unions will never forgive him for it.
What fucking hypocrites they all are.

snikt| 5.24.09 @ 8:28PM

Nixon (the commenter) is right. You will go with what the consensus of people will say and agree to, but ignore the cold hard facts surrounding it. Nixon lied, but who hasn't? Democratic presidents have had their fair share. But everyone holds JFK to a different standard, along with our current President and Nancy Pelosi.

Importantly, the lesson learned by the once Silent American Majority is that US liberals' demagoguery will now be soundly and publically criticised, whether by Republicans or Independents or the non-affiliated Americans. Later American generations will sort out the truth from the chaff of the pervasive liberal propaganda and demagoguery of the 60's and 70's. Note that Jane Fonda and Walter Cronkite became multi-millionaires; no accident. For liberals, truth is merely a truism: who you know and who to blow; or Orwell 1984 meet Mark Felt.

Ben voiced what I've always felt. Nixon got a bad rap. He lost his debate with Kennedy because, (unlike his opponent, who arrived fresh from a sex romp), he refused to be made up for the cameras, because he felt it would be too dishonest. (How ironic) When he was President, he had just come back from a very successful trip to China and was confronted with the news of the "burglary". Human nature kicked in, and he did what he did out of fear of losing all he had gained. For that, he is looked on with more disdain than Clinton, who pointed his finger at us and said "I never had sexual relations with that woman".

JOE REED| 8.15.09 @ 9:21PM

Who paid most for the liberals' largess of 'truth' ? Nixon ? Cambodian genocide victims ? Republic of S. Vietnam ? Decades of liberals shaming US Vietnam Vets, including to the present ? (i.e.,read the comments below)

richard nixon was a failure at his presidency. we thank deep throat for his courage!

beholdaredhorse | 10.12.09 @ 10:43PM

Ben Stein's father worked for Richard Nixon. Stein was part of the deep throat conglomerate. It was not a single man, but many men, who brought down the President of the United States. Ben Stein and his father, were very instrumental in this process as they were closely tied to the Israeli Mossad intelligence agency. There is one common tie with this operation to destroy Nixon, and that tie is Jews. Stein and also, the ultimate Judas of the operation, Heinz a.k.a. Henry Kissinger. Kissinger has personally passed more classified documents to the Mossad than any other double agent in the history of the craft. BAR NONE. HE IS A TRAITOR.

I have read several of you articles and must say I have enjoyed them. You bring a refreshing realistic view of subject matters with a sense of humor. It’s always seems that the majority of people will believe what they want to believe and condemn a person because they have made one mistake. They seem to forget the positive contributions and how it has affected their daily lives. If only we were all perfect.
