I don’t mind Emily’s skepticism where it concerns my brash prediction that Scott Walker will be elected this country’s 45th President.
But whatever skepticism Emily might have concerning Walker’s positions on abortion, corn subsidies and immigration, I believe they are effectively neutralized by the words that were uttered by AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka:
Scott Walker is a national disgrace.
I can assure you that Richard Trumka doesn’t think Scott Walker is a national disgrace because he is insufficiently conservative.
One means by which we can evaluate a prospective Republican candidate is the quality of his or her enemies. Those enemies don’t get any bigger than Richard Trumka who bragged that he visits the Obama White House two or three times a week and is on the phone with them every day.
Trumka had 15 other Republicans whom he could have directed his ire. But he picked Scott Walker.
If Trumka and the AFL-CIO choose Walker as their enemy then why shouldn’t we pick him as our candidate?
