Daniel Foster has a good response to ThinkProgress’ little bit asking Liberty University students whether Christians should let the uninsured die. The only thing I’d add to his distinction between “society” and “government” or “we” and “government” is that the logic of big government has convinced us that “we” — using the term properly — never have to do anything. Big government will take care of it, even when it involves members of our own families. When it comes to our responsibilities to our fellow man, we can say we gave at the office — meaning on our pay stubs, to the IRS.
