President Donald Trump exited the G7 summit in Canada to focus on the ongoing war between Israel and Iran. Arriving in Washington, D.C., early on Tuesday, Trump denied reports that he had returned to the U.S. to work on a ceasefire, and that his actual motive is “much bigger.”

This announcement may be connected to his warning on Monday evening that “Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!” In the same statement, Trump continued his criticism of Iran for not making a deal in the 60-day window that he offered. (RELATED: Basic Thoughts on Iran)

Trump spoke to reporters on Tuesday morning about his goals for the region. In response to a question about what he believes will be the best outcome, the president said, “A real end, not a ceasefire.” When reporters asked whether this meant a permanent solution, Trump responded, “Yeah, or giving up entirely. That’s okay too.” (RELATED: Iran Miscalculated. The Ayatollahs Must be Removed)

Following his departure from the summit, Trump ordered the National Security Council to convene upon his arrival.

G7 leaders voiced their support for Israel in a statement on Monday, prior to Trump leaving the summit. The statement reads, “We affirm that Israel has a right to defend itself. We reiterate our support for the security of Israel,” and that “Iran can never have a nuclear weapon.”

The summit includes French President Emmanuel Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer — leaders who have been critical of Israel’s war in Gaza.

In a Tuesday Truth Social post, the president reaffirmed that a ceasefire is not his current objective in the Middle East. “I have not reached out to Iran for ‘Peace Talks’ in any way, shape, or form,” he said.

Following the end of the 60-day window, Iran seems to have lost all of its bargaining power, as Trump has signaled that Iran may have missed its chance to negotiate. He stated, “They should have done the deal. I told them, Do the deal.” He added, “So I don’t know. I’m not too much in the mood to negotiate.”
