Trifling With Trump
by

In one of the great scenes of the greatest play of all time, Hamlet, the prince of Denmark is introduced to a troupe of traveling actors who are visiting Elsinore, his family castle. His minister tells Hamlet that he will treat them well. “My lord, I will use them according to their desert.”

“Gad’s, man,” Hamlet replies. “Much better! Use every man after his desert and who shall ’scape whipping?”

This comes to mind about former President Donald Trump. He has now been indicted for improper business records and for paying a woman to keep quiet about having sex with him. This is standard behavior for wealthy men. Paying women for sex. Giving them gifts to keep them quiet is also standard. Keeping exaggerated business records is also standard in this country. Yet who of the tens of millions who have done this gets indicted for it?

Only one, who has a message and a charisma that truly reflects this great nation. Donald Trump. Only one ex-president, who still leads a movement that is America, gets indicted while tens of thousands of people who rob, steal, rape, and kill get off scot-free.

It used to be taught to us when I was in law school 53 years ago, “De minimis lex non curat.” The law does not bother with trifles.

But a man who calls himself The Law does bother with trifles if the trifler is white, has a powerful message, and is still very much alive and above all — a real conservative.

A sad, terrifying day for America when the law has been so debased. Now our glorious Constitution, with its promise of equal protection, is in shreds as the Democrat-led race war heats up.

Long live Donald Trump. Long live our Constitution.
