The Stop Online Piracy Act, currently stalled (for now) in the House, and its Senate companion, the Protect IP Act, attempt to address the legitimate problem of intellectual property infringement with the terrible solution of breaking the Internet. As such, numerous websites have gone dark today in protest. If you’re unfamiliar with the issue, this explanation from the Heritage Foundation of why the bills are problematic is a good place to start.

Just this morning, Senator Marco Rubio announced on Facebook that he’s withdrawing his support for PIPA; Erick Erickson is thrilled. Rep. Lee Terry withdrew his support for SOPA yesterday.
