The burning issue today is who raped Lena Dunham. And who raped the U.Va. co-ed. Personally, I blame Benghazi. It all comes down to scandal envy. We’ve had a good run, those of us on the Right: Benghazi, Obamacare, Fast-and-Furious, take your pick of scandals, and this was bound to annoy people on the Left. So they need their own scandals, their own narratives. Mind you, I’m talking about narratives, not facts. Nor guilt or innocence. As Alan Dershowitz once said, people on the Left think that rape is so awful a crime that facts shouldn’t get in the way, that innocence shouldn’t be a defense.
The kinds of people who think there’s a rape crisis in today’s America are the same kind of people who 350 years ago thought there were witches in Salem. Rape is indeed a terrible crime, but anyone who thinks that it’s more prevalent today than in the past is plainly delusional. College males today have been subjected to every form of feminist-inspired brainwashing that an angry Left can devise, short of incarceration. And that would be an obvious next step but for the lawyer’s requirement of proof. As for Lena Dunham’s claim that she was raped at Oberlin College, if you’ve ever met an Oberlin grad you’ll know just how incredible that sounds.
