The Spirit of America rallies planned for Saturday were originally intended to be smaller and more locally driven. However, they appear to be growing, says Debbie Dooley, one of the main rally organizers with the Main Street Patriots.
Although several rallies took place earlier this week, there are nearly 60 events planned for Saturday (see locations here). Due to demand, though, local groups are organizing more to take place on Saturday.

In Atlanta, for example, where a rally was held on Monday, organizers were asked to schedule another event for Saturday. This one, according to the group’s event page, will be a “gathering” in front of CNN Center.
The idea behind the multiple rallies, according to Dooley, is to give a voice to those who may not be able to afford to travel to bigger rallies.
“We want to give a voice to everyday people,” Dooley said. “Instead of them having to travel to a big rally, we wanted to bring the rally to them.”
Dooley stated that the majority of the events’ organizers are women and one third of the attendees have never attended a political rally.
Not all of the events have gone off without a hitch, though. In Olympia, WA, when local officials could not ensure that anti-Trump protesters would not try to disrupt the event, the local organizers had planned to postpone Saturday’s rally.
However, attendees were having none of it and the rally is scheduled to go on as planned.
