The battle over North Carolina’s bathroom law intensified with Governor Pat McCrory and Attorney General Loretta Lynch filing lawsuits against one another. Lynch actually likened the NC bathroom law as a form of Jim Crow:
This is not the first time that we have seen discriminatory responses to historic moments of progress for our nation. We saw it in the Jim Crow laws that followed the Emancipation Proclamation. We saw it in fierce and widespread resistance to Brown v. Board of Education.
Is Lynch telling us that the City of Charlotte’s ordinance allowing men who identify as women to use the women’s washroom and vice versa is the equivalent of the abolition of slavery? Is she telling us that Governor McCrory is the 21st century version of Orval Faubus and George Wallace?
Evidently so because the Obama Administration has gone all Alinsky on North Carolina. But Bravo to Governor McCrory for refusing to be intimidated. I mean it’s not like Donald Trump has his back. He’s on his own. Even if the Kennedys never recognize him for it, Governor McCrory is a profile in courage.
