Jennifer Siebel Newsom was blunt.

And the New York Post had the headline: “Jennifer Siebel Newsom slams tradwives as ‘harmful’ and blames sexism for Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton’s presidential losses.” (RELATED: Why Newsom Is More Terrified of the DOJ Investigation Than He Wants to Admit)

The wife of California’s Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom could not be plainer. The Post story reported: “Jennifer Siebel Newsom slammed the ‘tradwife’ trend on social media and blamed sexism for Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris’ presidential election losses in a recent wide-ranging interview.” (RELATED: Gavin Newsom’s Extremely Odd Wife)

Ahhhh. The usual liberal ploy at work. The hard fact is that Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris lost not because they were not “trad” (traditional) wives. They lost because, in hard political fact, they were… gasp! … liberals. Disciples of the far-Left.

The story went on to report this of Jennifer Siebel Newsom

She also wasn’t shy in suggesting that she believes American voters chose President Donald Trump over Clinton and Harris because of their gender differences.
“I do believe gender played a huge role in both of their defeats,” Siebel Newsom said. “And Russian interference.”
“As we explore in the documentary, women are essential for a thriving democracy, and when our foreign adversaries see a powerful woman rise, it’s a threat because it’s also what they’re trying to dampen and hold back because it is part of their authoritarian agenda of preserving their power and the status quo.”

Hmmmm. Perhaps something is missing in Ms. Newsom’s assessment?

And what would that be?

That would be the all too frequently missed point that liberals have a very curious problem when dealing with female candidates — and also candidates who happen to be black, Hispanic or gay. Not to mention a problem with conservative women in general.

The problem?

Here are two cases in point.

Recall now-former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin? Governor Palin, a Republican and decidedly good governor who was selected by Arizona Senator John McCain, the 2008 GOP presidential nominee as his running mate?

In the day, the call went up when McCain won the GOP nomination that he needed to have a female running mate. Governor Palin was a perfect choice, with a background of working her way through the political system as, first, a City Council member and then mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, she had gone on to be the first female governor of Alaska.

So McCain selected her. And Democrats and the media went crazy. Why? Precisely because the governor was, yes, a woman. But she was a conservative. A Republican for God’s sake! So there was a huge, very big “no!” to Governor Palin from liberals and the media.

A version of this situation has been seen elsewhere in American politics.

This time in the African-American community. Back there in the 1960s, Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, a liberal Democrat appointed by President Lyndon Johnson to the Supreme Court, found it was time for him to retire. Justice Marshall was an African-American, the first black appointed to the Supreme Court. He had been appointed in the 1960s. It was now 1991 and time had moved on. The Justice felt the need to retire.

Immediately the cry went up from Democrats that Marshall held the so-called “black seat” on the Court. And Thomas’s successor must be black.

Sooooo.

President George H.W.Bush obliged, nominating federal judge Clarence Thomas, an African-American, for the seat. And all h…e…double LL broke loose. Why? Because Judge Thomas was… OMG!…. a conservative! And, don’t you know, if someone is black they must be a liberal!

There was a world class political war that erupted, over the Thomas nomination, with Judge Thomas finally being confirmed with a majority provided by Republican Senators. (RELATED: The Left’s Never-Ending War to Disqualify Justices)

Which brings us back to Jennifer Siebel Newsom’s criticism that Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris were defeated because they were not “tradwives” — culturally conservative or traditional women.

The hard fact here is that Newsom’s real but unspoken criticism is that when this story reports that…..

….Newsom is leaving a very big something out. As the nomination of Governor Palin illustrated, Democrats in 2008 did not really want a female vice president. They wanted a female VP who was… a liberal! And if she was not a liberal, as Governor Palin was not, they not only were opposed to her, they were vociferously opposed to her.

The same story was at work with the retirement of Justice Marshall. His was the so-called “black seat” on the Supreme Court. But while Judge Thomas was a black man, he was also a decided conservative. So he was, in the fashion of a vicious political show, opposed. Smeared. With the disgraceful anti-Thomas campaign finally failing outright.

Which brings us back to the recent remarks of Jennifer Siebel Newsom.

The hard fact is that neither Hillary Clinton nor Kamala Harris were defeated because they were women. Like various male Democrat nominees before them with names like President Jimmy Carter (in 1980), Senator George McGovern (1972), Vice President Hubert Humphrey (1968) or Governor Adlai Stevenson (1952 and 1956), Clinton and Harris were defeated because they were liberal Democrats.

That is more or less “it.”

And if nothing else, Jennifer Siebel Newsom has shown how the Left plays the game. They want more women in politics and government — but not if they are conservatives. Conservative women are portrayed by liberals, as Newsom has done exactly in this story, as being betrayers of the faith. The Faith that dictates that to be a woman (or a black, Hispanic or gay) is to be a liberal.

So.

As to the saga of Mr. Newsom — California Governor Gavin Newsom — and his obvious quest for the presidency in 2028 moves forward?

Make no mistake. Jennifer Siebel Newsom is watching. And “trad wives” are not to be allowed in a Newsom era.

You can take it to the bank.

Provided the bank is not run by a “trad wife.”
