Orrin Hatch is spitting mad about conservatives working against his renomination to the U.S. Senate. The six-term Republican incumbent from Utah denounced them in an interview with NPR. (Hat tip: Daily Caller.)
“These people are not conservatives. They’re not Republicans,” Hatch said. “They’re radical libertarians and I’m doggone offended by it.” So doggone offended, in fact, he’s almost ready to come to blows: “I despise these people, and I’m not the guy you come in and dump on without getting punched in the mouth.”
At the moment, the odds favor Hatch avoiding Robert Bennett’s fate of being tossed out at the state convention, but he may not be able to avoid a primary. The convention will vote on April 21.
